I’m the renter of a house and some of the windows aren’t installed correctly or are just wrong measurements as the top part of the window won’t stay shut and the bottom part won’t stay open (it’s a downwards sliding window.) is there something I can get to nodge the window closed and or opened? The part I want open is obviously the part with the screen on it and the part I want closed is the part without the screen.
Does this lever need to be opened before using the gas fireplace??
I want to remodel my kitchen exactly like this picture, with the cooktop on the peninsula. I however don’t want to have a hood pending from the ceiling. What are my other options? There are no windows.
can you use a stacked washer/dryer even if the outlets/hookups are side by side? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Hey all,
We put in porcelain textured tile that’s brown with a nice vibrant color pattern. Unfortunately, all the work from the cement siding (durock) we used instead of drywall and whatever else (paint? Mouldings? It should just be the cement siding right?) has laid on this thin white layer across the nice tiles we have put down. It also plays with my kids’ allergies.
We’ve tried to wipe it down with water and a sponge but the improvement is so marginal it will takes dozens of times over at this rate, if that. Should I be vacuuming this thing first with some super vac ? I think the darn texture has trapped so much of the fine dust that it’s going to be a hell of a time to get out.
Any suggestions from you knowledgeable folks out there would be much appreciate!
And thanks for reading this probably too lost post !
(Excuse the messy closet). We moved into this apartment over the summer and i HATE the master closet. Its a weird triangle shape and small. Our old closet was large and open, in our master bath. We never close the closet door anyways and half our clothes are in the second bedroom which is a pain.
Do you think we could remove the door and add in similar wire shelves where the door is? To match the left hand side, to try to maximize the space? (And also get better use out of the second bedrooms closet)
Water pools around the base of my exterior garage and seeps into the garage. How should I prevent this issue?
I need help figuring out who to turn to in order to resolve this smell. Friday night we noticed a sudden and strong Chlorine/chemical like smell coming from our basement. Our gas/electric company came out to check for any gas, our HVAC company ruled out any furnace issues, and after closing some doors we have found it is not coming from any room with a drain.
We do not have any chemicals stored downstairs, our containers of Bleach are intact, there are no obvious leaks, and the smell is persistent even after leaving windows open for long periods. I have no idea what could be causing this smell and who we would contact to investigate.
Thoughts/advice, anyone?
Our bathtub very much needs a recaulking around the perimeter of the tub. Should I also caulk the grout of the tile? Also, any advice would be appreciated!
Every year I get heating blankets due to circulatory issues. This year I've returned at least 3, they simply don't even heat up. What the hell happened to make every manufacturer decide they needed “improved” coils that don't even heat up? I'm not joking you can even tell it is on with all I've tried, they also are so damn things it's not even funny. What the hell happened? Now I'm searching for ones that were made last year and hope to find at least one.
I’m assuming it’s NOT safe. Probably gonna go shower at a friend’s. Can’t turn light on either as other bulb will probably pop.
Next weekend I’m having 6x2 walls built. I’m adding 1.5 inch foam boards so there’s no airspace behind the walls. Trying to get this done before my carpenter buddy comes. It seems these braces won’t be necessary after walls are framed between the posts. Any problem with taking them down to put foam boards up?
I'm buying a new home built in 2004 and I noticed as I was rewatching the video there's this big spot in the basement. It kind of looks like it was a repair job of some sort. this a call concern? My inspection is on Wednesday.
As the title states, in my basement the foundation has about a half inch gap to the cinder block wall. Is this something to be concerned with? It appears the gap between the foundation and cinder block had a grey sealant concealing the gap but it has begun to fall down into the gap.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Google has been less than helpful.
Am I supposed to remove this film from my stainless steel refrigerator?
Looking for information on refinishing concrete pool deck coating and ease of DIY Old cool deck finish is old and worn.cool deck verses epoxy? What brands?
There is a house that checks all of the boxes, with both the house and property being exactly what I am looking for at a reasonable price. The home was built in 1930. The only issue I noticed when seeing the house is the basement. Once I went downstairs, you can tell a musty type smell like higher humidity. They do have a dehumidifier going as well. There were two main floor joists on the ceiling, and they where being held up/given extra support by floor jacks, going directly from the cement floor to the joists above. There were about 6 floor jacks for each joists. I did see a sump pit with a pump on the floor. Otherwise not too much else, did notice any standing water or anything while I was in there. I asked my agent about the disclosure form and the sellers did put that "the basement has water seapage on the floor during heavy rainfall". Is this house worth continuing with an offer etc? I know an older home like this won't be perfect, and it's a larger property that's hard to find for it's price. But I don't want to get myself into a mess.
I had typed this out on another page and unfortunately it got auto removed and I forgot to copy it just in case. I really need help with furniture arrangement ideas for this living room. I will take some photos of my room tomorrow as well but I thought a drawing would give a better idea of the shape of the room
I've been trying for ages to figure out what is going on with our bathroom and kitchen sink faucets. They both spray water like a spray nozzle but it's just a regular faucet. No matter what way I try to ask Google I never get the answer I'm looking for so I've come here.
Can anyone tell me why the faucet is spraying and how to get it become a stream instead. I'm beyond tired of getting soaked while doing dishes.
