The Boys and their fans both have really good taste in humor. Unfortunately that doesn’t automatically translate to any given fan themselves being funny. There are members of this community who have embraced Sean’s bullying qualities that only he is able to precariously actually pull off, and it can come across as off-putting.
Look at Kevin. He definitely can recognize quality humor very well, and though he’s good for a quip I wouldn’t say he’s hilarious. I think this gives us as the fans a good model to aspire to. This image made by ChatGPT tries to use the triangle meme of presenting three desirable options, with the condition that we can only choose two.
In the absence of strong evidence to the contrary I think most of us should choose “Being Able to Recognize the Good Funnies” and “Being a Sweetie”. I love you and I’m in love with you.
I remember an ep where Sean says he wishes there were more characters in movies like him, who are “sick” and “not doing well.”
Trying to get back to reading more and feel like he has good taste. Open to any recommendations.
Trying to get my friend into the show. I think he would really like the episode where I think it was Sean & Hayes alone. They were critiquing the book/movie/dream of one of their sons as being unrealistic and not good. I have no idea when it came out because Im listening to the back catalogue in between new episodes. Any help would be appreciated!
Usually a day of listener but just caught up on this ep. Did he talk about it on his pod or was it mentioned anywhere else?
I know I know, if you have to ask...
This what the show is. Listening back to old episodes is unlike any other media I've ever consumed. Episodes are drastically different because while they explore segments and bits (e.g. Teaser Freezer, Santaman) they never rely on them. This means you can always expect something original while still having the same Boys to guide you through it. Whenever someone doesn't like this show, I always have to say: Okaaaaayyyy...?
The ads on this show alone are better than anything else.
He popped up in the Audible best of lists, and I grabbed a few of his books.
Since I will be listening to them instead of reading them, can someone who read them tell me what it was like?
They did one where they talk snl and they do a whole “snl goodbyes” bit where they play the end credit music hah god I can’t remember the episode
Hey y'all, I have a serious question. What's the probability the boys get Stephen Malkmus from Pavement back? I'm not a basketball fan but I'd even take him on the flagrant ones.
Also what other bands do you hope the guys get? I'm hoping for a ty segall/mikal Cronin ep personally
What happened to it? Did it die? Kevin dropped it and it shattered? Too many unsubs from lack of cold-opening story finishings? Did I get kicked for my hilarious handle DeftLimpShrimp? What gives?
That feeling of joy when your favorite podcast co-host mentions liking one of your favorite book series and then that feeling of disappointment when you realize no one cares and it doesn’t matter.
Kevin, love the pods and the work that you do, thank you. Can you please tell Hayes that his recommendations about getting involved with local politics is spot on and fantastic advice. I live in a deep red county in Florida and am joining the local democratic executive committee to get engaged and start mobilizing the community around homelessness and school board issues.
