Phase 3 Comic placement in progress!!!!
Just finished Tears of the Nameless, and I’m really tired of the Jedi being stupid. Yes, the Nameless are scary. They make the Jedi feel bad. We get it. This plot point has been annoyingly driven home already, and this book just keeps it up. I really do not need yet another description of how scared somebody is. It was time to move beyond that well before this book started. The deaths in this book feel so unnecessary, given what we already know from other books. The answers are obvious to protect the Jedi, and they continue to ignore or just fail to implement them. Never go anywhere without a non-Force-user, or maybe even a combat droid. Carry a blaster, or bring along someone who does carry a blaster. Nope, they just keep stupidly and arrogantly trying to go it alone, with the same predictable results. At this point, it’s just tedious.
It just seems very out of place in the current circumstances. In the phase 3 HRA comic chapter 11 (I think it was 11) there are several tanks aiming at the eriadu city and the whole galaxy is in shambles. Look I know Lula, zeen and the adventures crew are enormous idiots but this feels really out of place to do, even for them.
Even today, in the times of Internet and Gaming, there is still a Star Wars Pen and Paper RPG. And the products made by Fantasy Flight Games are even quite good. Is anything known about Sourcebooks or Adventures about the High Republic Era?
It would be the best playground for Jedi Characters and new kind of adventure arcs.
Since these might be the only HR figures we ever get. Have Yord and Indara on Pre-Order. Hopefully we get a Vintage Collection Stranger figure too. But we never got the rest of the Bad Batch in it, so I'm not holding my breath on that.
Let me just say off the bat I'm not at all complaining about non-binary characters existing in media. It's something I may not fully understand but more power to anyone to live their best lives. And I'm not saying such characters should not be in books either.
That said... I can't be the only person that keeps having to re-read lines and do "word math" to figure out what is happening sometimes with characters like Kantam Sy.
And it isn't the fault of Kantam. They aren't my favorite character but I like them. I think the issue is the writing. Even knowing Kantam is written using they/them for pronouns, it gets a little weird when the writing keeps swapping between singular and plural, and occasionally it does it in the same sentence.
Occasionally I have to stop and re-read lines or paragraphs because in my mind's eye as I picture the scene wrong when the text throws me off. Like a sentence might be like (and I'm making this up) "Kantam looks to Cohmac as they raise their lightsabers, and they cover their eyes as Cohmac launches forward."
This sentence isn't in the book, and I don't have it near me, but I have read sentences in it similar to this. It isn't difficult to figure it out, of course. Kantam looked at Cohmac as the two Jedi raised sabers, and then Cohmac's leap caused Kantam to close their eyes. But reading it normally it is very easy to get mixed up and make your brain go "wait, what?" for a moment. You might imagine that only Kantam raised their saber, or that both Kantam and Cohmac closed their eyes and it can take you out of the story.
Again, I'm not really complaining and I'm not saying non-binary characters are bad, but in written text I think it cannot be denied that there can be confusion, at least depending on the writer. I hope eventually writers figure out how to include such characters without causing "word math" in the writing.
I just wanted to get this off my chest.
Hello There!
You may recognise me from my previous posts about our political sim based on the New Republic - well we've hit a good point in our canon so we've recently decided to do a refresh and reboot and our Moderators have sent us back to the Early Republic ~circa 17000BBY, right before the First Alsakan War!
Our sim may be perfect for you if you want to explore and roleplay the storytelling, law making, and the politics of this timeline as we each play Senators of worlds of our choosing and try navigate the Senate of the Republic for our world and our political factions.
We are very beginner friendly and always have a few people around to help feel out the ropes (a missed comma or capital definitely won't start a galactic war ) We are resetting as well so there's no better time if you even think you might be interested!
Every few weeks the events team puts forward in-universe events which we as Senators must be deal with together (or not...) and this drives our new in game canon. Long time experienced players will also facilitate the fiction so there's always some crisis to bite your teeth into.
The main action of the Simulation takes place on our discord, where we coordinate, chat and have a community outside the more stuffy confines of the subreddit, but you can find a lot of our work on https://np.reddit.com/r/model_holonet/ !!
If you have any questions at all just pop in and ask, or ask me here :)
I think its save to say that "The Acolyte" was quite a flop in terms of Story and Characters. But one thing that catched me by surprise was the character development of Vernestra Rwoh. She went from "energetic Prodigy" in the High Republic books to "worn out politician" in the Acolyte. Yes, 100 years of time does change a man... but are there any plans to explane why Disney turned his Flagship character in the Young Jedi books into an old cynical Jedi-granny?
I know that a few more books are planed, but I doubt that they will turn too much efford into it after The Acolyte bombed.
I asked this in the EU subreddit before I knew about this subreddit, think i may get a better answer here.
I recently finished the Hyperspace Disaster and Starlight Beacon books as well as the a few of books from The Path of the Open Hand/Closed Fist story.
So I'm curious if there's an in-between story covering the 128 year gap between the end of the Cataclysm book and Starlight Beacons story. The Eiram/E'ronoh war seems pretty well settled and brought to peace yet the dedication ceremony for Starlight Beacon says the war has only been over for 25 years. So is there a go between story that explains this or is this a byproduct of having large overlapping stories released out of order and by different authors?

A three episode story arc in the Tales format as we saw in Jedi and Empire. Which Jedi do you pick?
I personally would pick a young Jedi Knight Porter Engle, while on a mission to stop a notorious Pirate who runs a large fleet. Each episode we dive more into Porter’s beliefs on the force and the Order, while sprinkling in some flashy Jedi vs Pirate action.
I like to read everything in the high republic. I read the complete run of high republic adventures and it was dreadful. The writing was childish, there were no fun characters and the art was mehh. Everything that included those characters was the low point of phase 1 for me. I enjoyed every book apart from midnight horizon and race to crashpoint tower, partially because in my opinion Ram Jomaram is a more annoying character than Jar Jar Binks. My question: does high republic adventures get better in phase 3? And do the characters cross over to the books as much as in phase 1? I am currently finishing up phase 2 and am already dreaded to read about Ram again.
It feels dumb with all the threats during the high republic that no one takes Toons suggestions seriously. "But the jedi will save them" not anymore with the nameless cunts. Also the Nihil have blocked an extremely large part of the galaxy with their stormwall, imprisoning hundreds of republic and jedi members (not to forget the trillions of civilians). We also cannot forget the other threats like the drengir or the possible armies from the upcoming eclipse game. Even if you do not agree with me that the republic needed to have an army, they at least need more RDC or more guards because starlight beacons defenses were laughably abysmall. In young jedi knights Tabor (a literal child) could just steal the unity plaque (that was in the middle of a storage room) and there was no one guarding it, no alarms etc. It also took like about 20 minutes for jedi vectors to scare away taborrs crew who were just vibing next to starlight. Even in "The fallen star" starlight is poorly defended. The droids barely check anything and it took like 3 nihil to completely destroy the base. Despite the fact that a mole helped them get in, it feels just too easy and convenient to me. Starlight beacon is easily one of the dumbest things from project luminous. I know the republic cannot have an army because of the prequels establishing that the republic had no army for like 1000 years (Ruusan reformation, Legends). But the fact that the republic will overcome the enormous nihil threat makes me question why the Clones were even needed because the republic can easily handle big threats with the help of outlaws, other factions etc or why the republic didn't immediatly start a military force after the nihil war. This was my rant about why Tia Toon is right. I hope you find my rant an interesting read.
After a year or more wondering if this would actually be released, it’s finally here!
Ever since their arrival in one of my personal favourite books 'into the dark' I've grown to sort of love these dark side of the force meat eating vines. You could say I'm always "rooting" for them. My hope was they'd turn out to be the anti-heroes of the entire series but alas it looks unlikely thus far that they will fulfill my dream for them. I was so excited by their return in phase 3 although that went south rather quickly. There was no redemption for them. Given it was the Sith who imprisoned them i suppose my belief that they could change is improbable. I still have hope of a Jedi Drengir one day though!
Anyone else out there rooting for our Drengir friends? Anyone in need of more cries of "Meat!"?
PS - yes, i am stoked to see them in the new audible exclusive book.
I recently finished re-reading Path of Vengeance by Cavan Scott and was so intrigued by the names/details of the Path special operations team assembled to retrieve monster eggs from Planet X that I patched together a rough image of the squad.
Note that The Nameless Terror comic book which features Shea, Geth, Wole, and Shalish also includes a Weequay named Kane, who is not mentioned in Path of Vengeance.
As we consider the legacy of this team, not only did they bring back several more Nameless eggs, but Geth and Shea are the parents of Mari San Tekka, Tragor is the father of Baron Boolan, and Marda Ro, of course, is an ancestor of Marchion Ro.
So I just finished The Rising Storm. It was a great read but one thing is still very confusing to me.
So basically in the final act Marchion tries to kill Pan and injects a deadly poison into his veins. Pan is left to die, but Lourna saves him using an antidote. Afterwards she tricks him into atttacking Cyclor/Hetzal, but it turns out to be a trap and he is left to die by her.
So if Lourna planned to let Pan die from the very begging then why did she save him from Marchion earlier?
I hope I am asking for help in the right subreddit, if not, apologies I'll delete this.
I've just finished https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Republic-Adventures-Complete/dp/1506737803 and I'd like to read what happened next to Lula and Zeen but I am a bit, well not a bit actually very, confused.
The only thing I can find on Amazon/Goodreads is this: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Republic-Adventures-Phase/dp/1506745741 which skips the whole of phase 2 and goes straight to phase 3 (with them being adults)? What happened between that and the end of Phase 1? The naming and ordering of these comics is really not helping a casual reader like me... I'm completely lost.
According to Wookiepedia's article Lulu's supposed to join >!the Nihil!< in between these phases? But Wookipedia's appearances section is kinda humongous and I'm not able to navigate through the naming/ordering of it.
So if anyone can, would you please help me?
Did the comics stop and there was a time skip? Did they transfer their characters to a different form of media? Where/how can I continue their story before I read the Phase III Volume 1?
