I recently moved to Hatfield from London. I'm new in the town and finding my feet here.Until today..
I was coming from work this evening. There's a short bridge right beside Hatfield station that goes over the railway tracks. There were 3 -4 boys (age 15-ish) coming from the other side on the short bridge. They came close to me, gathered around and said," Do you want problem? Have you got money?" One of them took my wallet out from the pocket and took out cash while other two grabbed me. somehow I pushed 2 guys, snatched my wallet and ran away.
To my surprise, there were other 3 people on that bridge behind me. They chose to ignore me and went away.
To reddit community,
Do not go near train station when it's dark. It's NOT SAFE. Please advice your near-dear.
Is this like normal here in Hatfield? What would you do in such case? Is calling the cops a good option? Or the police doesn't do anything if there's no proof. (No camera on that bridge)
So it's pretty much the title, both myself and my partner (M30) and (F27) have recently fell on bad times, the tldr of it is we were made homeless, lost all our friends due to just being depressed or they moved away and now with the new year coming we've decided to make massive changes in our lives.
So were a relatively chill couple, we don't smoke, we drink occasionally and we play video games, I PC and she plays xbox, I'm a flight sim, racing sim player and she just plays whatever is good (Fallout76 at the moment)
Were both Alternative people but with a wide range of music tastes, we both like horror movies. Were avid D&D players so that would be beneficial if you enjoy that.
She's a theme park buff and I tolerate them so do with that as you will
We live in WGC and both have jobs and we're just looking to start our lives over and make new friends with similar interests.
any messages will be responded to when we're both finished with work, thanks!
Hi all,
Myself and my boyfriend are planning on beginning to run a small bake stall of homemade goods. Could anyone recommend me any christmas/non christmas markets in which we would be able to set up in?
Hey! I'm Jayson, I'm currently 17 but I turn 18 soon. I'm looking to move out ASAP. I'm looking to find a flatmate or housemate that can help me find a place to stay when I turn 18 in April. I'm studying in the Welwyn Town Center so it'd help if it's near the town, please reply if you know anyone or are looking for a flat/housemate
Hi,
I travel 2 times a week to Heathrow from hatfield.
I use contactless for the entire journey, but lately the services have been awful with cancellations, delays and at times we’ve just been dumped at a station due to ‘staff shortage’ and various other reasons. With freezing cold temps and a 2 hour journey that often turns into 3+ hours each side + tfl site being down for the past 2 months , I need to claim compensation for whatever I can get.
I came to know of DelayRepay/keyGo, that allows one to register for automatic delay compensation (?) . Can someone let me know if it’s worth it, or should I just manually submit claims online (train websites).
Additionally, how does it work? I get to Finsbury Park (or farringdon where I take Elizabeth line) using the train, touch out and take the tube. With the same credit card tfl can track the journey (touch in / touch for change / touch out) . How do I use keyGo (train) and Contacless (tube) at the same time?
Healthwatch Hertfordshire is working with the NHS to hear from the Armed Forces community about their experiences of local healthcare.
We want to find out what veterans, non-mobilised reservists, serving personnel and their families think about accessing healthcare locally. Does it meet their needs and are they receiving the specialised support they are entitled to?
This is a valuable opportunity to shape how care can be improved for the Armed Forces community and builds on our previous work from 2021 which looked at Improving Healthcare Access for Veterans and our efforts to encourage GPs and hospitals to become veteran accredited.

And while we have you…

Anyone know if Hoddesdon loves Christmas is still on today? Hertford one is closed due to the wind.
Planning a girly night out in Hertford soon, I’ve heard deco lounge is meant to be quite good. Esp for R&B music to dance too, anyone have any thoughts?
Is it still open? Been a long time since I’ve been (maybe even a few years!) as I moved to Kent, but most my mates are still In Hertfordshire and near Hertford. We don’t go out very often. They’ve come round my way a few times. But I need to come to them now..
Cba to go into London.
Thoughts pls + thanks 🙏
I'm looking to move to St albans and was wondering how reliable and frequent the buses there are. The rent near the station is pricey so we wanted to consider living 1-2 miles away from the centre - I do drive but if family/friends were to come visit they'd need to be able to get to mine via foot/public transport.
I’ve seen the ‘filmed in Hertfordshire’ at the end of the credits and I was wondering if anyone on here recognises the house?
Hi, Looking for someone close to Stevenage to run ongoing dnd campaigns for my friends and I, possibly weekly games at mine, if your interested please let me know
Hi everyone!
I’ve just been offered a job with GSK and I am unsure of whether to choose Stevenage or Ware. I would love any info about any areas that are nice and safe, especially for a woman living on her own. I might be bringing my car, is car theft a problem?
I am leaning towards Stevenage but any advice or tips would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hi all,
Does anyone know of any places where I could host an 18th Party for say 20-30 people?
There will be some 17 year olds and I’m bringing my own drinks so a pub probably wouldn’t work 👌
Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for a dog boarder who also does mid-day home visits? We’re looking to get our dog used to the same person who can pop in if we’re both out all day, but can also board her if we’re going on holiday.
Ideally in or around Hertford!
Thanks!
I can find millions of visit/sit on Santa's knee.
I'm looking for somewhere that also has professional photos with it. Preferably near St.Albans/Hemel.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Hi, we live in London Colney and were wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a cleaner. Thanks!
Growing up, I watched my dad—an experienced builder—always have a network of trusted tradespeople he could rely on. Whether it was a plumber, or electrician, if someone let him down, he had a backup ready in his book.
The idea for Find in Herts started as a way to create an online version of my dad’s network—a reliable space for local trades to connect, share work, and support each other.
When starting my own business in Knebworth and trying to build my own network, I realized something frustrating. When I needed fitters for my business and turned to platforms like MyBuilder, tradespeople had to pay just to talk to me. That’s when I knew this idea could grow into something more than a network. Find in Herts is now designed to be a cost-effective solution for tradespeople and a useful directory for homeowners to connect with the best local trades without extortionate fees.
I wanted to reach out to the local community to share what we’re building and gather feedback. If you’re a homeowner or a tradesperson, I’d love to know what you think could make Find in Herts even better or more useful. The platform is live at Find in Herts, and any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading and for any feedback you might have. I hope this can grow into a valuable resource for our community.
Hey! Does anyone know where I can find a list or website that lists some groups in Hertford? Me and my partner are keen to join something, be it a sports or exercise group or something else. Anyone got any ideas?
