Hey all,
Just two hours ago, a 15 year old came by asking for money because his mom couldn’t afford her medication, something about Medicare. My husband answered the door so I only got so much info. Does this happen often in Herndon? We’ve been here for a year and we’ve had someone knock on our door asking if we wanted to buy their parsley they had with them….
Our time here has been so random 😂🤣
29F. I don't party and I'm not much of a drinker, which I know will probably lesson my chances since many people go to bars and lounges. Where can I meet people to possibly make friends? I'm more into fitness, reading, drawing, painting, outdoorsy person. I know some of my hobbies are more of an at home thing, but am hoping to meet people to hang out with on occasion.
If one more effing pedestrian wanders into the street without looking, I'm gonna lose my mind. I feel like driving down Elden street is like playing an unfun high stakes video game. Anyone else?
Just moved to the area this week and the cross country drive did a number on my truck. It was already up there in miles and overdue on some maintenance, but I couldn't really afford it before selling my house. Any reputable dealers nearby?
Hey all,
I am new to the area (female, in my 30s, just relocated from the West Coast) for a new job with a company in the area and am considering renting a place near Elden / Alabama (the place is off Alabama - going a little further west on Alabama St) because I found a great price.
I keep hearing / reading mixed things about this specific area of Herndon and wanted to get your thoughts? How safe do you feel in this area if you have ever lived there or currently live there? At night do you feel safe? Is there any crime or gang activity in the area or is that a thing of the past? If there is some, what kind is it usually?
I am looking at other places on surrounding towns, so I don't need information about other areas nearby - just info about this area :)
Thanks!
Does anyone notice how strange certain housing developments are in this area? Almost like a cult.

Considering taking a position and relocating. I have a wife with no kids, yet. Is that compensation enough for a single income & a house within 15 miles of Herndon? The compensation will increase quite a bit with experience, but I don’t want to be renting for a significant amount of time.
Thanks In advance.
Hello,
I am considering taking a position in the US that will require me to move. I will be on a work visa, so I'm not looking for anything permanent.
I've been browsing the rental market in Herndon and nearby areas, so I'm aware of how expensive it is. My main concern is actually being qualified or allowed to rent over there. I've seen that some places ask for a certain credit score, renting history, and other requirements.
Is it feasible for someone who has just moved to the US to be able to rent a house in Northern Virginia? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

We are currently with Cardinal and have had abysmal service. Looking to find something/someone who is actually responsive, cares to come on site to look at things and can truly guide the board.
Hey there, everyone.
Van Metre plans on developing new construction townhomes and townhome-style condos in the Herndon (McNair area) starting Summer 2024. I have been in talks with the builder about getting any status updates on floor plans, timelines and pricing but all they have given me is that it will be a new townhome and condo community - which I expected since it's too early out. Based on the location though, can anyone give me an educated estimate on what the starting home prices could potentially be? Also, how is the McNair area in general? And if there is anyone that has any experience with Van Metre new construction townhomes, I would love to hear your review/feedback.
Thanks everyone!
Hi guys, have anyone here lived in Elme Herndon? I just wanted to get your opinions on the noise level in these buildings. I'm originally from europe and before moving to Herndon, I lived in Arlington for couple of years in a brick building apartment. But now in this particular apartment, probably made out of cardboard, every step my upstairs neighbor take, it sounds like someone is thumping right beside my head. Even worse, I can feel the bass level of their TV. Is that normal? I really don't know and I'm frustrated, I can't sleep cause they're, what I perceive as jumping around the whole night and I don't know what to do :(
Hello, does anyone who lives near the clock tower on Centerville keep hearing flyovers ?
Anyone hear the gunshots last night around 11pm? There was also police activity and choppers, just wondering what happened.
Any recommendations for sushi restaurants in Nova that can accommodate gluten free sushi and staff is knowledgeable?
Are there any stargazing spots close to Herndon (or the DC area) or any events for tomorrow's (or tonight's) Perseid meteor shower? I am new to this area and badly want to watch this meteor shower. I guess it should be okay even if it's a park a little away from the city lights (but safe, obviously, since it's going to be night and away from the city lol).
Hello, I live on the corner of centerville and sunrise valley and at around 10 PM it sounded like a plane was flying insanely close to the ground . Did anyone else hear that ?
