Hi, Heavy Rain
I messaged the moderator to make sure I can put it up and they said yes :)
I'm an undergraduate university student at Hull University and for my dissertation I'm looking into 'If video games affect the public perception of detectives.' I've put together an anonymous survey which takes like 5 mins to complete maximum for anyone who wants to help out with my research. While Obra Dinn isnt the best community to go to for an answer to this question specifically its still a detective game and its likely you've played other similar games mentioned in the survey and in general.
Information sheet bit for more specific details
This research project aims to understand if video games affect the public perception of detectives. Anyone over the age of 18 can participate in the questionnaire. The procedures involved include a questionnaire. Completing the questionnaire will take around 5 minutes maximum. There is very little risk in participating as you are kept anonymous throughout and it is a multiple-choice questionnaire. The data collected will be used in my dissertation and answers will be analysed to find common trends. Only I (the researcher) will be able to use the data. The questionnaire is anonymous keeping everyone who uses the questionnaire hidden to everyone. The data collected will be stored on onedrive once completed and will be disposed of upon graduation.
Participants can remove themselves from the questionnaire only before pressing submit as since it is anonymous. Anyone who removes themselves from the questionnaire will not have their answers be used and will be destroyed as it was never submitted to begin with. Participants will not be informed of the results of the research. The questionnaire will be available until 30/01/2025. Since this is an anonymous questionnaire do not write any comments which will make you identifiable. By completing the questionnaire, you are consenting to take part in this research.
If you have any questions you can DM me on reddit or ask in the comments and I should respond eventually.

Thanks to anyone who took time to complete this survey.
I did it all in one sitting btw. What an amazing game, had me glued to the screen since the start, didn’t fucking expect Shelby to be the killer (even though always felt he was kinda random in the whole plot) thought itwas Ethan most of the time lol, this game had everything, especially the ship between Ethan and Maddison I loved, only thing bothering me is Norman giving up and going kinda crazy but oh well he was epic and Ari was really cool too. 10/10 FOR ME.
I'm going for the Perfect Crime achievement on PC, about a chapter away from The Lizard, and I'm just curious as to what people think is the best way to go about the trophy from a narrative perspective, and I guess what the "definitive" Perfect Crime run is. This is currently my thought process for each possible scenario:
1. Norman dies in "Fish Tank", Ethan makes it to the warehouse, Ethan dies while Shaun survives
2. Norman dies in "Fish Tank", Ethan is arrested, Shaun dies
3. Ethan and Norman make it to the warehouse, Norman dies, Ethan and Shaun survive
4. Ethan is arrested, Norman makes it to the warehouse, Norman dies while Ethan and Shaun survive
So yeah, this is basically my two cents on each possible scenario for Perfect Crime. I do intend on checking out every route anyway but for the sake of an initial run and getting the actual achievement, I kinda want to ensure that I'm doing a run that feels a bit more "definitive", a run that feels like the true "Perfect Crime" from a narrative standpoint. Interested to hear what everyone thinks!
How many attempts did you people need to get that one? I played the game upon release back then, but I had almost no recollection whatsoever when I started a second playthrough last week. I know for sure I did okay without tilting my controller.😵💫
Either way, I only have a handful of trophies missing and keep running into walls. One site says I have to finish Face to Face without getting hit for that trophy too, most sites say otherwise. Exact requirements seem to vary in people’s eyes.
As the title indicates,I am playing heavy rain (for the first time in fact). It's the PS5 version but I'm displaying it on PC (with elgato 4k60Pro capture card), through OBS. The visual result kind of looks like two butt cheeks, glued together with a third butt cheek taped on using old Scotch tape, for a total of six cheeks, all crapping in my eyes. My display is a Samsung 4k UHD but the pixel quality I'm seeing is..dodgy...murky-ish. Was the game never intended to be in 4k, am I asking too much? Or does my setup have too many points of failure? It's worth noting that there's an HDMI splitter in the mix too. But for the record, everything else I play/watch with this setup looks and sounds immaculate💁
Hi I’ve searched Reddit and seen posts from all the way back 2 years ago, but none of them solve the issue.
I’ve tried all the community layouts within Steam, again, none of them solve the issue.
I can’t stand the shaking of the steam deck when you need to do gyro movement in this game, nor can you disable gyro controls.
Has anyone found a way to get gyro controls onto the right trackpad instead for this game?
I am finally able to replay HR on my SteamDeck (all hail the steam sales, I got Detroit, HR, Beyond 2 and Fahrenheit for £17! 🥳). Anyhoo I am just wondering if anyone knows why a French developer chose a mostly English cast and then set the game in the US? The cast do a .... decent-ish job of the accents but it seems strange to me, especially considering the UK's fame for constant rain. Any thoughts?
Newbie here, I was searching for a spoiler free guide to nudge me towards the best possible ending of the game, but I can't find anything useful.
Do you guys have any links? Or do I truly need to go in blind and see what I get? 😅😅 I'm just a little overwhelmed because I read that the game has a lot of endings lol
Maybe that's stupid question but I have no idea where Madison got Norman's contact from. I'm just curious. Did I miss something along the way? She can call him to give him Shaun's location, she knows that Jayden is an FBI agent and everything, but I don't know where she got that knowledge from...
The game is Heavy Rain, I found the soundtrack on the radio in the first chapter All I have is a record of it for 14s I searched for it so many times and I tried using Shazam but didn't work Maybe someone can help?
Ask me anything
Hey, I got this game recommend by a friend but I was wondering if somebody knew what the better version visually and gameplay wise is?
Did Scott really love Lauren? He seemed to care a lot about her in trapped and face to face if she was dead . I don't know, Maybe he even started to feel a little remorse for killing her son. He was stupid or maybe just delusional enough to walk right into her in the mother's revenge trophy. They did a lot of things that really made me feel like Scott couldn't be the Origami Killer. He seems like a completely different person before and after we find out he's the killer. It doesn't make sense. Maybe he's the one who really has schizophrenia? Maybe he has two personalities, one of them couldn't forget how his father left his brother to die, and the second personality completely forgot everything to the point that he didn't recognize his brother's grave or their story when she told him and Lauren. He didn't look even a little sad in front of his brother's grave, which is illogical. He seemed to know nothing about the killer in Face to Face and started interrogating Kramer about questions he already knew the answers to. Maybe we would have known more through the cancelled DLCs instead of thinking it was just a glitch in the story or personal theories to understand the matter.
think about the QTE's O:
Do you think >!Scott!< really truly cared for Lauren, or was he just bringing her along to keep her from finding out he's the killer? Personally I like to think he genuinely cares for her, especially as you get the option you save her in the level where they're trapped in the car underwater. But at the same time, he's leading her on a wild goose chase to "find the guy who killed her son".
I don't quite know what Scott's emotions are supposed to be in the >!A Mother's Revenge !<ending though, like when Lauren says he found out everything about Scott and Scott doesn't say anything and allows her to shoot him. Some people to say this means he respects her as he doesn't try to stop her or try to kill her. Does he feel at all angry or even repentant at all now that she's found out the truth about him?
What I mean is, a letter to David Cage. To mention the various plot holes, get the DLCs (ep2 especially). I know this is completely silly, given that Quantic Dreams * who won't stop their Star Ward and Marvel (don't get me wrong, I like Marvel), instead of releasing original stuff* won't give a shit about a letter regarding the remaking. It takes MONEY. But we can give it a shot (only suggesting, im open to criticism otherwise)
