We are moving from the City to Hanover County. Typically have been very attentive to city council meetings in Richmond. Would like to do the same here. Any general thoughts on the Board or members? Any one else who regularly tunes in or pays attention? Trying to get a sense of the who and the what of county government.
I am bringing my Grandmother out here in November for a few days to visit. I would love to take her around but she is limited in how long or much she can walk. Is there any resource where I could rent a wheelchair, preferably one that could handle the parks and gravel areas such as Azalea flea market? Is there such a beast that can handle those terrains? I am not trying to take her off roading but someplace like deep run park where the paths are fairly maintained.
Is anyone else experiencing these large grubs emerging? I found quite a few on my driveway this morning, my son found some the other day.
Howdy folks!

Free pizza, drinks and snacks provided (though donations are welcome).
For our TTRPG, I'll be running a Kids on Bikes one shot called "Suburbs vs. Zombies." KoB is a light and fast system that encourages players to think creatively and solve problems through imagination and roleplaying.

Does anyone know of a landscaper or tree company around Hanover that gives wood chips away? I'd love some for my garden. Thanks đ
There are obviously pros and cons about new businesses and builds, however, I'm excited for more options along the 301 corridor! Chipotle just recently put their sign up and I'm so excited that it's no longer a sad shell of a once was Burger King.
Now if only we could get some more sidewalks, bike path, and crosswalk!
Howdy folks!

I am planning on putting a couple vegetables in the ground next spring. Where can I get Hanover tomato seeds? Kinda dumb but are there knock offs to look out for?
Please take this and pass it along to interested people. Ashland's AHA (Ashland Helping Ashland) program is set up to help you and others in Ashland get work done without costly investment in tools and resources. Here is the link https://www.ashlandva.gov/699/Ashland-Helping-Ashland-AHA
I think Cville has a similar program, would love to see more localities in our area take this on and run with it.

I have a quick question for the Hanover/Ashland area. I need to make a decision quickly if I am going remain where I rent or if I need to move. I keep hearing that rents are starting to decrease but my landlord is raising rent for "market reasons", which I think is due to the incoming RMC class and need for student housing. I'd prefer to remain in the town of Ashland proper and under $1300/mo. A small, well trained elderly 15 lb doggo is also part of the family here. Other than normal rental agencies or land barons in the area is there anything out here?
Edit- corrected typo
My neighbor's son moved 20 beagles into kennels 100 ft. from my property last summer. They're not well cared for and their incessant barking has really ruined my quality of life here. Calling the county doesn't seem to help. Any advice is appreciated.
I am battling a petty neighbor and my HOA about adding a driveway to accommodate my grandmother who is living in an en-suite with us. The HOA said Hanover requires driveways to be 20â in length. I have searched everything I can to find this and can only find regulations for driveway width. Any advice before I call the county? Thanks!

CSX will be closing several railroad crossings for maintenance this week
Work is scheduled to begin in Richmond on May 21, 2024, and progress north to Doswell.
The work could take 2-4 days per road/crossing.
The following crossings will be impacted.
There will NOT be any maintenance conducted on the Francis Street, Myrtle Street or England Street Crossings. These crossings will remain open.
CSX has not provided specific details on the exact time each crossing will be affected.
Please help, I just got a boat and need ethanol free gas! Where do I go?

Our next round of game nights and TTRPG days is coming up!
On Saturday May 4th from 10 AM - 2 PM we'll be having TTRPG Day at the Mechanicsville Library. This month we'll be playing Apocalypse World: Burned Over, a rules light game of post-apocalyptic survival. It's quick and easy to learn and we'll make characters and teach the game on the spot. If you want to bring your own dice just grab a couple of d6's.
Perfect for fans of Fallout or Mad Max!
