2023 Hangout Fest: May 19, 20, 21
2023 Pre-Party: Thursday May 18 (unconfirmed, did not occur in 2022)
The Hangout Music Festival is an annual 3-day festival held on the public beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The was started in 2010 by A.J. Niland and Shaul Zislin. Zislin is the proprietor of The Hangout, the restaurant that sits in the heart of the festival grounds and for which the festival gets it's name. Originally produced by Huka Entertainment, the festival is now under C3 Entertainment. The main attractions of the festival are the five stages that host a variety of artists throughout the weekend ranging from reggae to soul, hip-hop to rock, plenty of EDM, and everything in between.

Hi! I'm looking for new friends that would love to hang out with me for a harvest party on November 10th in Queens New York! We're going to have free food, free games, free sports, and of course it wouldn't be a harvest party without a party! If you're interested then let me know!
Anyone need a place to stay for hangout? We are booking a house and have extra room Just have to spilt the cost which would be like $200-$250 a person in total
Hey everyone, like most of you, our group will not be going to Sand in My Boots. Does anyone know of any festivals that are similar to hangout? Almost every beach fest is country and we’re looking for the same type of mixed genre.
Does anyone know if you can switch/trade wrist bands though-out the festival. For example if my friend is in GA and I want her to experience super vip for a bit. Any input from past hang out fest peeps is appreciated. Thanks!
I joined the waitlist yesterday morning but now just worried about what my card will be charged if they get to me on the list. Will it be another random amount or the amount they said they'd charge?
I’m thinking about buying a stub hub ticket so my friend can join us. How do I know for sure the person on stub hub actually has a ticket because there are no physical tickets distributed until April. I’m so worried I’m going to get scammed.
What is up with the pricing? I was in the queue the moment everything opened. Yet rather than $399, I was charged $549.
Just went to buy two Party Pit tickets and the website wouldn’t let me. I then tried to buy two GA tickets and the website said there were none left. Did it sell out already?
I was considering going since I have family going. I joined the waitlist right at 10:00 CT, and waited over 25 minutes to get in. The GA prices jumped from “$399” to “$549” plus all of the fees.
Definitely not going now!!
I’ve never been to hangout but my parents own a condo about a mile down the beach from it, and we know everyone else in the building.
THE ENTIRE BUILDING IS BOOKED OUT ALREADY.
Usually that week doesn’t start to fill up until January ish, but ITS ALL GONE ALREADY.
just a friendly psa for anyone planning to go in 2025
Good luck people!
Edit: I’m told the lineup was announced earlier than normal so while it’s definitely more popular than normal it’s not as shocking as I took it as. Sorry everyone!
If we buy VIP passes, are we allowed to be in the lower pass levels (ga and party pit) or do we have to stay in vip? Asking bc my child's friends may not all get the same pass levels but they want to see some acts together.
I was considering going to sand in my boots because I do genuinely LOVE the line up and I'm bummed I missed post Malone at the wharf. But because I've never been to hangout nor have I ever looked into pricing or packages for it, idk what the hang up for everyone is? (Other than people not liking that it's country which is understandable-but other than that?) was hangouts pricing cheaper/were the packages better? Did GA include more? I need to know before I bite the bullet and spend over a grand for 2 GA tickets for my first festival ever.
I saw a post in here saying GA doesn't include re entry but this chart is from the website itself for anyone confused on it!
Looks like they changed and are now allowing re entry for all passes. With this now an option, would yall still suggest VIP at the price? I'm planning to go with a 15yr old daughter.
Do we think there will be more acts than currently listed? That doesn't seem like as many as before. I still don't want to get the vip but that's the only way, right? What time does it usually start on Friday? Is it morning or afternoon?
Hi all!
For anyone kind and cool that is feeling disappointed by the Hangout situation - I just wanted to invite y'all to Bonnaroo! It is also multi genre and has everything (besides the beach) that Hangout has and so much more. If you have never done a camping fest, I HIGHLY recommend. I know they are not for everyone, but for me camping enhances the experience MAJORLY! There is also an option to just come for the days if you're anti camping!
I'm sure a lot of yall do both anyway, so hey fellow Bonnaroovians !!
I have a feeling a lot of people will be making this switch (honestly excited for yall) and just wanted to inform anyone who may not have thought of it!!
LMK if you have any questions and also Bonnaroo has a reddit for convos and questions called r/bonnaroo :D
Hope yall have a beautiful day
Are they not allowing re-entry throughout the day now?!? Last year we left & came back several times with GA….this makes it sound like you have to spend $1700+ to be able to come and go!
I feel like there had to have been an effort to not have women performers to only have 5 out of 34 be women. even the bands don’t have a single woman in them. i know people are going to be annoyed at a “feminist take” but at a time where women are dominating the charts this is crazy. enjoy the bro fest i guess.
“Hangout Music Festival isn’t going anywhere and will return to Gulf Shores in 2026,” says Reeves Price, AEG Presents and Hangout Festival Producer. “Partnering with Morgan Wallen on the Sand In My Boots Festival in 2025 is an incredibly special opportunity, and we’re excited to bring his vision to life.”
So after seeing the lineup I have zero desire to go and my group will definitely skip, but it sounds like this is a one off. I genuinely cannot comprehend how they thought this was a good idea but hopefully the sales reflect that so they don’t try this again at any point.
Wallen is probably paying good money to run this festival into the ground
in 2011, my parents went to the second ever hangout fest and loved it. i'm from AL and GS/OBA is where my family and i always went for vacation growing up. i've always wanted to go, but i was never old enough and now in the last few years i was too broke to go. i'm turning 21 next may and my mom promised me she'd get me a pass for my birthday, which would have been perfect since gulf shores is my favorite place on earth, i'd be going to the festival AND celebrating my 21st. i know there is so much going on in the world and this is the most minuscule thing compared to everything else, but i have had a rough last two years and have been working my ass off to build up savings to pay for the expenses of the trip (a hotel/condo, gas, food and drinks, etc).
Cancelling hangout fest amd replacing it with this crap is pure idiocy. I’ve been to every hangout fest. I hate country music. Definitely won’t be supporting this festival any more.
Damn guys, this sucks. The beauty and uniqueness of Hangout was it’s showcasing of artists, big and small, across all genres - celebrating all musical communities and giving everyone an invite to the party.
Morgan Wallen isn’t even all that great of a artist if they want to switch it to country only they could of picked a better headliner lol (preferably one who has not been caught using racial slurs lol).
Regardless of my opinion on his lack of talent, this completely takes away from what Hangout is supposed to be: a beach party with something for everyone and the opportunity to fall in love with new artists. The diversity of the acts is what drew a unique community of attendees from all over the country who, despite their differences, all came together to enjoy the music. I traveled all the way from NYC and was ready to do it again every year. I loved how friendly all of the attendees were and the carefree spirit in the air. It wasn’t a Coachella or Gov Ball vibe where everyone is there too concerned about their image and instagram pictures, this was for down to earth cool and non-superficial people looking to have a good time and dance in their bathing suits. It was a beautiful community.
Hangout- you will be missed just as you were. 🏝️💙
