So I am a self taught musical instrument make who specialises in little sized instruments usable in musical therapy that you can learn without any musical knowledge.
Here is a kalimba , or piano thumb . Each key has a number and music sheets are numbers too to make things easier.
I love to make resin art on my instruments. It’s more beautiful and acts like a motivator for players, it’s nice to look at so one wants to touch, when you touch you play and when you play you progress. It avoids people leaving the instrument aside and stop playing. It helps a lot with anxiety crisis too, visuals help a lot in this field.
It’s nice too since it’s a challenge to manage creating techniques to obtain the desired effect !
How did I came to learn to make this? So because of my anxiety and to help my neuro divergeant kid ? Adhd and on the Spectrum), i began playing kalimba. But 6 months later I wanted something more. More notes, better sound, more vibration . More life into it. So I began crafting kalimbas as we are rarely better served than by ourselves💀🤣
I began observing the kalimbas I had to know how to make. 👀 I figured I needed a bracket system for the keys, meaning I had to learn to use 3D on the computer. Learned on the web looking tutorials. 💻 a factory makes those for me feom my design as I need a 0,05 millimeter precision and it’s not possible at home Then I needed to learn woodworking. Learned on Canadian forums . 🪚 I made my first kalimba after some trials and errors , then I wondered how I could make them more beautiful .✨ And so I began resin work , learned how it works on groups too.
And 3 years later this is the kind of work I do.
This project is part of a collection about stones and green gods. I wanted to make a kalimba on the moon and moonstone theme, so I made a mix between both.like a bridge between earth and space . The hardest part was the technique itself to obtain a deep and realistic effect with just 7mm of resin.
I hope you’ll enjoy and like the sound!
Hi! I’m wanting to start crafting miniature books and I want to know if people prefer the ones with two title or ones with one title and the back?
All started when I polished this fire agate, and ended up having someone give me this fire agate, they just wanted me to do magic with it.... so finally did an experiment I've been wanting to do, where I use traditional methods of making fine jewelry in my wire wrapping. This is the best hybrid I've ever done
I need help finding the supplier of this brand as I want to order bulk
Hi everyone. I am looking for examples of handmade items around the upcoming election. Stickers, t-shirts, posters, online graphics. If you are making stuff about voting or candidates. I'd love to see what you are making.
Not shown is me whacking a blob of solid sterling silver into the impression die to make the flower shape.
