A dedicated subreddit for Human Powered Vehicle racing of all sorts, especially the Australian Pedal Prix races
HPVRacing, aka Pedal Prix, is the sport of racing recumbent trikes or velomobiles.
The biggest series of races is the Australian HPV Super Series, which consists of several endurance races of 6hrs, and a 24hr race. Typically teams switch riders in their trikes depending on personal endurance, and the teams must be able to make repairs to their vehicles for wear and tear, and the inevitable spectacular crashes.
The AHPVSS allows riders from primary school age all the way to professionals, which encourages the younger riders and makes the race more interesting.
The racers achieve incredible speed and endurance, with the lap record for the annual 24hr race just shy of the world record for 24hrs, and speeds of up to 80km/hr have been recorded on the racetrack.

I have had a thought that I haven’t taken too seriously until now, but I’ve been wanting to start a race or series like pedal prix in Australia. I kind of want it to be more broad and diverse vehicles rather then just the trikes (even thought they are really cool) and have thought about doing something like Le Mans in the sense there are multiple classes of bikes (including the fully faired trikes) what does anyone think of this?
Wondering if there is any pedal prix racing in the USA?
I just discovered this a few weeks ago and have been captivated by this but I’m not in Australia so how do I get in to it in the us bc I like think it’s interesting
Hey everyone,
I'm currently working with my team to develop a fully custom EEV to compete in this year's Energy Breakthrough in Victoria.
The handbook specifics a bunch of guidelines around placement and installation of the transponder, and it specifies it can't be mounted within 500mm of an LED light or any other powered device. Due to the unusual design of our vehicle, this will be virtually impossible.
Weirdly, the handbook doesn't give any information about the transponder itself. Not even any dimensions. This makes it nearly impossible to find solutions for our problem.
I'm hoping someone can give me some info about the transponder? Make/model/size or any other info would be very very useful. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Hey all, just wondering because I'm somewhat new to HPV, what is the type of bike that wattle racing and unhinged race? I've been doing HPV for 4 years now and always seen them but never known what type they are
I was thinking about how much fun I had in high school doing this and I wanted to get back into it, while I still cycle I very much enjoy the whole motorsport aspect of HPV. If anyone can point me in the right direction for a community club that would be amazing. Cheers

Worth having a look at the videos of the Sprint Demonstration. Team Relentless looked like taking out the win but crashed out with one lap to go.
I joined up to the sport last year, and have been working through a massive training program. I'm interested in doing race reports for the AIPP series, and am wondering if there is any interest in reading a training/race blog.
Since I am new to the sport, I wanted to get into all things pedal prix. Thought I would post this vid to this sub, and see what happens!
