i’ve been a fan of grimes since i first discovered her music in 2011/12. as a visual artist myself, and a lover of music, i immediately connected with her art, and was inspired to learn how to produce music.
i’ve finally started learning this year, and i’ve been releasing some of it as well. i’m not trying to be the next grimes, but i am heavily influenced by her work. i don’t necessarily think that’s obvious in my music as i have many other influences too, but i have to give credit to her as the one who inspired me to teach myself production.
most of my songs don’t have lyrics or vocals, except for a couple so far. i’ve been working on gaining courage to use my voice more. but i would appreciate anyone who checks out my music! it’s available on basically every streaming platform
I live in America and I really love the Visions bonus tracks and I think being able to listen to them on a vinyl would be super cool but after like a 2 minute google search for it I couldn't find it so I just wanted to ask if its possible someone is selling it before spending more time looking for it
(Not my vid just think it is important)
I’ve just listened to her new track « Image » and Oh ma’gad… does it even make any sense ?? Seriously I really enjoy Grimes music but the only lyrics that made sense at all were from the track « Player of Games » but all the other albums from Halfaxa to Miss Anthropocene were just gibberish to me. It feels like the lyrics are just a reason to babble. I don’t know if there is some deep meaning behind all this word salad it’s like she doesn’t even care… Does she? Can anybody explain please ? I’d be really thankful. Thank you.
I'm trying to listen to all the songs that are published on Apple Music and I have the feeling that the generated songs lack soul, are unfinished or in case, a lot of songs have nothing to do with Grimes' musical style. In my opinion very few of them are really worth listening to.
By the way, does anyone have any list with these songs well done with AI?
Maybe it’s still not there bc I’m Canadian ??
THIS TOOK LIKE 3+ HOURS, I COULD U NOT 😭😭😭
But it goes hard 🔥🔥🔥
She's so cute hehehehe :3
i was so hyperfixated. is this a red flag 💔
Here are two lists that I have been making for about a year: Dreamcore Radio and Dreamcore Radio Extra.
The first one is a list with 404 songs related to Grimes' style. The second one is the same list as before with some extra songs added (506 songs) for styles close to other artists on the same list (example Poppy > Spiritbox).
Finally, if you loop or shuffle these playlists, activate the crossfade to the desired seconds (it works very well with 4 seconds).
Feel free to copy the playlist!

Approximately 13 years ago I was not in my best moment, I was quite bad in the psychological sense due to personal problems and I was also a school failure where I didn't even feel like going out of the house to study. In those years I was listening to Crystal Castles, in those years I was learning English thanks to the BBC series like Skinks where Alice Glass appeared in a chapter singing Alice Practice.
It was in a local CC concert (Bilbao) that a person told me about other styles of music like Grimes, I must confess that I had already listened to her, but I passed on her, maybe it wasn't my best time to listen to “calmer” things and less electropunk. Well, it was basically when I got home and could not sleep all night to listen to a list of groups that this person gave me, where Grimes was. To be honest I only remember two: The Princess of Arrakis (My Desert. My Arrakis. My Dune) and oOoOO.
I listened to her first album and fell in love with her style. It was like magic of the 80's (Cocteau Twins), like listening to the gothic electronic rhythm that I remembered from the English groups. Listening to her astract and complex lyrics for my English at that time, partly helped me to search more and of course, to know what she wanted to say: sometimes you knew it and sometimes you didn't, but we know she is like that. (XD)
On the other hand, something I noticed in her interviews or abstract lyrics, is that “hey, could she be autistic??" Well, some of that helped me to accept myself, my autism (and at the same time being gifted). Better said, to accept that I am not like the others, that I can never be and something more important, to be different is not bad, but positive for personal growth.
Still, we know that the blue-haired girl with gothic style is no longer between hands, but we must accept that the present is what it is: That she fell in love with a person either right or wrong, I think I'm no one to judge about it, but from time to time we can read in the press how she is suffering with the divorce and her children. Are we her fans worthy to judge her reality as a private person? No. Her ideology about life or the use of IAs in governance? Neither. We can agree or disagree, but never criticize her values or ideas, as such reality does not belong to us.
That said, I hope she has the best possible future, that she can deal with all the problems she has with we know who and can be happy with her children for as long as she can; I don't think she is a bad mother if she is fighting day after day for them.
Please help my grimes inspired music
So like almost two months ago I posted a piece of music I was making on garage band. And you guys gave me so many tips on how to make it better, I posted a second version (deleted) bc you guys said it sounded wayyyy worse. So here is me asking for help because no matter what I do it just breaks apart and doesn’t sound good.
MY VOICE SOUNDS SO BAD DONT JUDGE…
The original post is “need help making a grimes inspired song” or something, 61 days ago from today.
P.S I am not a music artist I know nothing please have mercy on my monster of a creation :(
Yes. She's a horrible fucking person and a pathetic parody of her former self, bordering on sci fi neo nazi. The old Grimes is dead, buried and had a shit taken on her grave, but can people STOP ignoring her music and the undeniable influence it had on modern pop? Say what you want about her now she's kind of wack these days but in her prime she was legitimately pushing boundaries and introduced a whole new different world of music to the mainstream. Literally so many modern artists (Magdalena Bay, yeule, Jazmine Bean, Dorian Electra) have listed her as a key influence and her older/current contemporaries (Björk, Imogen Heap, Sky Ferreira, Arca, SOPHIE (RIP)) are on good terms with her when it comes to her artistry, so why do people keep disregarding her? They pretend like Oblivion isn't among the most brilliantly made pop songs of the previous decade and that albums like Visions and Art Angels aren't extremely important to bringing out the DIY Synthpop and Electropop scene to the light? Yes I know that she's problematic and that people are going to be keen on not liking her more AS A PERSON but are we really going to pretend that her dating E*** M*** and posting dumb shit on twitter is a sin so heinous that we need to throw away all the art and influence she's had on the modern indie scene into the trash, like music and art made by literal rapists isn't celebrated because all of a sudden you CAN separate the art from the artist. You tell people you love John Lennon because he made legitimately amazing music yes, but he also abused and left his wife and kids for his stalker who would go on to groom a woman into dating him to prove he was cheating on her. You never see anyone disregard his art because of him as a person, only HIM as a person because HE did that. So why can't we do the same with Grimes?
This is gonna sound parasocial as heck but allot of her imperfections are why I connected with her art. Makes me feel less alone in the world. Reading her say that about herself is like hearing my best friends tell me they’re ugly. Like no stfu you’re perfect to me 😫
