Maybe one day there will be a proper continuation
I never understood why some writers put the entire blame on the hero for failing to save people rather than the villain who caused the damage. The destruction of Xanshi is a moment that will forever stain John Stewart's history because he is often portrayed as solely responsible for its destruction.
In the story Darkseid place a bomb on Xanshi in an attempt to create the Anti-Life Equation. At the time, Green Lantern John Stewart joined the Martian Manhunter in investigating the world where they found the inhabitants stricken with a communicable disease. Stewart, in his overconfidence in his abilities, trapped Martian Manhunter in an energy construct bubble to keep him out of the way and decided to venture ahead without J'onn J'onzz as the Anti-Life Equation had begun to manipulate the weather as well as turned it against them. During his investigation, Stewart discovered a Blink Bomb in the planet's core which threatened to destroy it and worse was the fact that it was coated in the color yellow. This prevented him from stopping the doomsday device which exploded and devastated Xanshi as well as sending it crashing into its sun thus killing all the native inhabitants.
Obviously there is plenty of room to blame John for acting carelessly since if he hadn't trapped Martian Manhunter then the latter could have disable the bomb and Xanshi would have been saved. However it should be noted that John never intended for the planet to be destroyed since it was Darkseid who placed the bomb there.
Some writers have even used the destruction of Xanshi to have some characters try to take revenge against John. The character Fatality only blames John for the destruction of her planet rather than the people who actually placed the bomb there and even tries to kill him. She does forgive him but the fact that she went after him rather than Darkseid seems incredibly weird.
I am not saying that John Stewart didn't make a huge mistake but writers constantly bringing it up without mentioning the real culprits behind the tragedy is most likely them giving John some moments of angst. The fact that they brought it up multiple time makes the whole thing lose its impact.
I know this is kind of a weeb stuff but saw green lantern create mechas similar to evangelion and Gundam but is it possible for any of the other green lantern to create one that was much more powerful than any other uchihas.... Well let me know.
I’m kind of new to the superhero genre as a whole, comics, movies, and tv shows, never really watched any of it until like a year ago but i never really got into green lantern, I’ve only ever watched Jon Stewart in the Justice league cartoon and Hal in the dcamu movies and I read Kyle in Tower of Babel so my question is: what should I read or watch as a new fan just getting into green lantern? Can be any lantern as long as you think I should read or watch it as a new fan. Thanks in advance!
There is a pretty underrated villain called effigy, how do you reimagine or revamp him?
I’ve been reading Geoff John’s run I’m currently on the second book of the Sinestro Corps war. I’ve also read the Kyle Rayner compendium, I really want to read some John Stewart stuff since I know he’s a loved character and pretty popular.
He's pretty beefy but he was the same price as all the other figures
Hi all,
I'm currently collecting pretty much all of the pre blackest night Kyle rayner trades, especially the 90s ones. Does anyone know what trades are included in the compendium?
Is it required to read Green Lanterns with Baz and Cruz on top of Hal and pals? Or is it an additional run.
For example it helps reading GLC alongside John's GL run but it's not required (highly recommended though)
only green lantern and the corps and the main event the other reading orders put a lot of tie ins
Sorry if this is common knowledge or a dumb question, but how much control do they have over their constructs. Can a green make things soft or harder? Can they create liquid or if they create fire would it be able to cook food like a normal fire?
