Hey all. I’m looking to branch out into music sung in other languages and I’m wondering if you lovely people had any gothic country/dark folk or adjacent bands from non-English speaking countries to recommend.
As an advance “thank you”, here’s La Sangre by Ghost Number, a Spanish band who mostly sings in English but they have an occasional song in their native tongue, such as this:
Hey all! Basically can anyone provide songs in this genre (or adjacent genres) featuring instruments you wouldn’t normally find in mainstream music? I’m talking jaw harps, washboards, washtub bass, cigar box guitar, or songs from other countries like sitars or pipes, basically anything besides the standard guitar/bass/drum setup or other common instruments like banjos and violins (although the songs can include those as well). All suggestions welcome!
Hi! ¿Anyone into music theory in here? I was trying to understand the music theory behind this dark / gothic country sound and I couldn't find much. If we play one drum beat, one church bell, one very low D in the piano (with tons of reverb) and we hit the floor with a metal chain or a shovel, we're almost ready to go. But... what chord progressions and what scales? ¿Anyone wants to walk this way? I have some time right now to do nerdy shit like this 😆
