What is 'Guardians of the Galaxy'?
The Guardians of the Galaxy are a fictional spacefaring superhero team that appear in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning formed the team from existing and previously unrelated characters created by a variety of writers and artists, with an initial roster of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Quasar, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot.

Peter WANTS to be like Han Solo
BUT
Rocket is a grumpy, no nonsense scoundrel who, despite trying to prove otherwise, always looks out for his friends and saves the day. And also has an unintelligible partner in crime whose much larger than he is.
Gonna have to go with Rocket here!
I was first introduced to Guardians of the Galaxy through the MCU. for a little while after, I have been trying to find the right comic to start my reading journey with. I have the list narrowed down to 3 options, but I wanted to ask fellow fans here on what their consensus was on these options and what they feel is the best starting point for a new reader. Here are my options:
The Final Gauntlet by Donny Cates
Grootfall by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing
Then It's Us by Al Ewing
Rocket and Yondu reflect each other a lot, shown in the scene where Yondu calls out Rocket for how he mistreats the people he loves and pushes them away, and in Yondu’s final moments he apologises to Peter for everything he did to mistreat him.
James Gunn implied that the first scene with the Chain playing is practically a “divorce” for the guardians, they’re splitting up with Rocket after a nasty fight.
However… there’s not really a reconciliation of that.
When they reunite Rockets first act is to say Quill has issues and any following scenes with them is classic banter.
The only sign of remorse from Rocket is the Final scene of him making a parallel to himself and Yondu that he is always forgiven even if he doesn’t think he deserves it, to which Peter agrees with.
But this isn’t really reconciliation or a sign that their friendship is okay.
All it is is a sign that Rocket is aware he is given lots of second chances he doesn’t believe he deserves.
It’s self pity. Not remorse.
Quill agreeing is enabling that self pity. It’s not forgiveness.
Yes I get that the whole battery thing is a thematic parallel to Yondu stealing Peter (a battery in ego’s eyes).
Thematically it’s smart. But surface level it’s sorta just left an entire arc of the story empty.
I would’ve appreciated an apology scene. Or a gesture that could be taken as a sign of remorse since Rocket isn’t really one to vocalise his feelings.
Either way; something that didn’t feel as open ended as what we got.
Almost forgot to post it here
We got One Way or Another
I look at this I see Yondu and young Peter Quill.
I think it’s a decent time
I would like to see that possibility as I got into Guardians of the Galaxy through the recent game. I think Guardians of the Galaxy could turn into an open world game maybe something like Mass Effect map or and this would be better but more like No Man Sky map making it essentially impossible to explore the entire map as one person. It would be interesting to really know how big a Guardians of the Galaxy map could really be.
