Nest Wifi Pro Blinking 3 lights at once (router), no internet issues when it happened, and cannot find any references to what the 3 blinking lights mean. Thoughts?

Whitelist Site on Google Home

I am trying to whitelist my company’s vpn. Doesn’t have to be only through google home but that is where my router is located and I saw on another post here that is how you access the backend. Is there a way to do this?

Nest Wi-Fi and Virgin Media

Has anyone else had problems with Virgin Media Gigabit FTTP and Nest Wi-Fi?

Here's the current set up:

  • Main router plugged into black Virgin Hub (which is also broadcasting its SSID as the Nest is woeful)
  • Two additional routers acting as points around the house. One in the kitchen one room over, one in the home office in the room directly above the main router.

The Office router is atrocious, but it's not the hardware, rather the network set up. I've tried multiple units in this office and they all have the same problem. They work fine at my workspace (one of those coworking spaces so very different problem).

The Nest Wi-Fi puts out <80Mbps with no throughput about 85% of the time, whereas the Virgin router will be putting out >300Mbps at the same time. I can't figure out what's going on. I also get a double NAT error with the Xbox.

Any suggestions?

Dumped Nest Pro for Eero - results

I was having issues with backhaul speed with my Next Pro and it was difficult to place them well due to the size of the units. I decided to try the Eero 6+, which isn't 6E and only dual band.

What I found in my environment is that 5Ghz backhaul works much better than 6Ghz. I have an old property with thick walls/chimney breasts etc and I can only assume that the 6Ghz was struggling to get through, and so the Nest mesh didn't work well unless they were really close or had line of sight.

I now have better coverage across my home (gateway + 1 mesh in house, 1 in outbuilding on ethernet backhaul) however some peak speeds are slightly slower.

The Eero app is quite good. Offers most of what the Home app does apart from speed testing to individual devices. You also cannot see the mesh speed in Mbps in the Eero app, just an indicator. The Eero paid add-ons are not worth having, but do add some nice data on congestion.

EDIT: Also IPv6 on the WAN interface works out the box with my UK ISP. Didn't work with Nest (used to work with Gen1 GWifi!)

Problem find my prusa printer on the network

Hi. I am trying to set up my prusa 3d printer with prusa link, and have done so according to their guide. However I get request timed out when trying to connect to it. I see in my Google Home / Wifi under device that the printer is online and idle. But when I ping my printer I get request timed out.

Have tried to force my pc to only use the 2.4ghz as my printer is on that band, still nothing..

Have anyone here experienced something similar and have some suggestions on how to try and fix this?

Awful experience with nest wifi

Awful experience with nest wifi

Installed them yesterday and I mainly can't connect my GOOGLE pixel phone to cast to my GOOGLE speakers on GOOGLEs app. Not intuitive at all 1 star, would rather be a monk devout of technology than buy another google product again.

1st it was so disgusting to set up I felt like taking it and bludgeoning myself with it so I didn't have to live this dread anymore. Every step needed to be done 7 and 8 times over and over again because for whatever reason the first time it never even worked. Like activating the stupid nest points or even basic connection. Took 3 hours total and cost me 600 strands of hair pulled out.

Now I thought I had reached the crest and that it was all smooth from here but I can't even use my phone's to cast as a speaker now. I was on the Google wifi network then I switched to another and for some reason it worked once then when I tried again it never worked again.

My family entrusts me as the household network engineer but I feel likeyou have to live and breath 1's and 0's to navigate the nest wifi experience. I pray that the wifi part will at least be without problems because I think I will stick it up my ass if I have to deal with those issues in the Google home app. Hate it Hate it Hate it. -1 stars

Google Nest Pro Mesh Network Setup

My dad decided he wanted me to help him create a mesh around the house. I've been accustomed to Linksys/Netgear routers, had a google fiber router at one time but that was the most vanilla admin settings i've ever seen. This seems a little more robust.. anyone have any good advice settings for the mesh? We have 3 pods

Is Nest WiFi still good ?

I had Google WiFi for several years, 4 pucks for 3600 square foot home. It was very stable and all my devices played nice. I have 500 x 500 fiber coming into my house and the maximum Google WiFi speeds were 100-200 max . Wanting more speeds and features I upgraded to a Netgear Nighthawk 3 piece mesh ( WiFi 6 ). The Netgear system has been nothing but trouble. Apple devices often will not show up on the network, printers fail to print and smart TVs won’t connect. I have to reboot the system constantly. I have worked with support on changing different settings, but nothing seems to work. No longer wanting to deal with this crap, I want to go back to Google, which might be more simplistic but less to deal with.

I am looking at the Google Nest system which I know is older, but the WiFi 6 system is pricey at over $350 for 3 pucks. How are WiFi speeds on Nest WiFi ?

Nest Wifi Pro devices

Hey there everyone ,earlier today I checked the wifi section of the Google Home app (internet was acting up) and saw that one of the devices had downloaded 2gb an hour during the night , turned out to be my gf’s phone which was not even active during that time. It’s an iPhone so I can not check for wifi usage on that device but I cannot seem to check what was happening on the Google Home app wifi section.

Even stranger is that my phone was not showing up in the devices section and when checking with my ipad (streaming movie) that was not showing up neither , showed as inactive…

Ever since we installed the mesh routers we had problems with connectivity and range and now it’s not even reliable in showing which devices are connected.

Anyone know of a way to see what was being downloaded to the phone at night ? Of why 2 devices are not showing up?

Speed drops, need to restart my wifi network every couple weeks

I keep having to restart my Google WiFi network every couple of weeks because my wifi speeds drop from 300-500 Mbps down to 30-50 Mbps. The modem is still at high speed when his happens, it's only a WiFi issue.

Restarting the network in the Google home app fixes it every single time, but obviously I don't want it to keep happening. Any suggestions?

Problem with Nest Wifi Pro - the last 6 months

I replaced my home wifi (google nest wifi with the speakers - cant remember the name) last year and Ive had slow issues since the start. the problems started out intermittently, some slow connections, gaming lag, one wifi point disconnecting from the App. I contacted customer service, they asked me to change my DNS and reset the connect, saying the problem was on the ISP side. I had a kid so I kinda forgot about the problem for a month or two, but the problem never went away. Slower speeds compared to my old google wifi system, more timing out. Called again they asked me to reset my network with over 50 smart devices in it, took 2 days and it seemed like it fixed the problem. But a month later same issue came back, long story short I've called customer service 5 times now each time is at least a 2 hour call and we finally narrowed the problem down to a single wifi unit that is messed up, but they refuse to replace it. They want me to do all the previous steps to verify that its not a setup problem. they also said that maybe u should just return it to Costco.

When did Google change? This is an insane process, it really makes me question whether Google gives a sh*t about their customers. do you guys have alternatives? the setup is nice, my kids arent old enough to need more strict parental controls, Im pulling my hair out trying to just get back to normal. I cant switch back to my old wifi system cus I gave it to my sister when she moved out.

1 device on IP range different from LAN

Original post got removed by mods.. no explanation why. Trying again without image.
*Mods - if you have to take it down, can you please explain to me why? This is the UN-OFFICIAL discussion and support group, and I'm asking for support of Google WiFi, thanks!

Simply this. Saw a device join my network yesterday that I don't recognize. Says it's connected to my primary point via wired ethernet. I've checked all my cables going to my switch into my primary point. Nothing new.

To make matters worse, it's IP address is completely outside my LAN setup of 192.168.8.x. it's showing as 10.0.0.106.

What is up with this?

Do I connect to the modem network or the Google network?

So I started with my modem, with network name Midtown7. When I set up the Google devices, it had me name the network again. I put Floral7 and used the same password. I now have 2 WiFi networks to choose from. Midtown7 and Floral7. Is this normal? Which one should I use?

Multi Gig Switch

Got a weird one for y’all. I’ve got Google Fiber and I have the 2 gig plan. I also got two mesh extenders, courtesy of Google, and got them hard wired to the router via the Ethernet around the house. I have one next to my computer, which can handle 2.5 gig via Ethernet. However, I only have the one port and if I plug my computer to the mesh extender, I’m bottlenecking my performance. I’m preferably just looking for a 2 gig capable splitter but, if needed I can buy a 5 port multi gig capable switch, just need to find one!

Google Mesh and ATT Internet

We recently bought a new house that has a second structure guest house. This second structure house is probably 60-70 feet away from our main house. Think of it almost like a detached garage. However it’s a true living house and our college aged daughter lives here.

Unfortunately the internet is almost zero out there. We have ATT fiber internet. Our internet speeds to the model are 650+ Mbps. I bought some of the google round disc looking mesh pods and set it up.

However I’m not convinced they are working well. Or at all. Our speeds in the guest house are still very slow. Usually around 20-30 Mbps

I added 3 of these pods the best I could. One in our main house sitting in a window sill. One outside and one in the guest house.

Is there anything else I can do? The guest house wifi is so bad you can’t really even watch Netflix.

Also. Out of curiosity…. My ATT network name is Lang WiFi. But when the google mesh was setup. It created a second network named Lang WiFi. Is this correct? Should there be 2 different ones? And if so. Which one should we be trying to connect to?

Low voltage transformer will only connect to 2.4ghz

Hi there, I have the first gen Google Wifi, which supports both 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz frequencies. I’m about to install a smart low voltage outdoor transformer that only supports 2.4ghz. Is that going to be an issue? I ask bc I see that all of the devices that are connected to wifi currently leverage the 5.0ghz frequency.

Let me know & if there are alternatives I should consider to make it work, let me know too! Thank you.

Automatically change Guest Wifi password?

I'm using Nest WiFi Pros and was wondering if there is a way to automatically change the password for the Guest Network. For now, I'm changing it manually through the Home app every day, and I was hoping someone knew a way to automate that.

Google Nest WiFi Point Keeps Dropping BUT with a Caveat

I purchased a Google 2nd generation doorbell (wired) to replace my original Nest doorbell after it died.

Previously, the original Nest worked fine with my NetGear Nighthawk router setup. However, the updated version of the bell seemed to require a bit more signal strength.

I live in a three story (900 sq ft per floor) brick front townhouse with the modem/router located in the back of middle floor and the doorbell located on the first level in the front of the house.

I purchased a Google Nest Wifi Mesh package with a router and a single access point. I placed the router in the back of the middle floor where the original setup was and the access point in the front of the lower close to the doorbell. Tests show that the connection is great and the bell works seamlessly.

HOWEVER, the access point drops off about once per week requiring a restart by pulling the plug after which it reconnects just fine. The bell initially goes offline during this time. The odd thing is, if I wait about 15 minutes the bell comes back online but the access point still shows that it is offline. The bell will only function if that access point is connected so I am sure that the point is connected but showing up as offline in the Home app.

I've confirmed this by unplugging the point for a period of time and also moving the point 1 floor above the bell closer to the router. In both instances the bell will not connect. I've read endless threads with numerous solutions and theories but none matching this exact scenario. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I guess the best advice I have read is is to replace the Nest WiFi with another brand. Thanks!

Certain websites not working

This has been going for a month and certain websites on all 5 devices get the error, access denied you don't have permission to access this site for certain sites. Very random and normal sites with all other sites working fine. As far as we can tell its about 8. If you go directly plugging into the modem or through cellular its not an issue. So I assume it has to be Google nest related. I tried changing to isp dns from automatic. I tried updating the dns server to 8.8.8.8 and that didn't help. I restarted everything and no help. I'm looking for any other things to try or what the problem is. I've seen some people replace the unit to resolve, but it's such a strange thing to replace it for. Any help would be appreciated.
