Recently while traveling, I ran out of space on my phone but wanted to film several short videos. In a hurry, I deleted several large videos from my phone. Once I got home, I started moving files from my phone to my computer. I'd like to be able to identify which photos or videos are on Google Photos so that I can archive them on my computer.
I've seen a couple of ways to download both photos+videos and metadata, but that's 40 gigs of data. Is there any way to get just a list of filenames so that I can cross-reference them?
Ok so I have this video on my google drive that I transferred to my SSD Samsung t9 but when I plug up my ssd to my phone I can’t see that certain vid but I can see all my other vids that ARE on my SSD perfectly fine on my iPhone. Now when I plug up my ssd to my pc, I can see that vid perfectly fine but for some reason I just can’t see it on my phone. Am I doing something wrong ?
Is there a way to delete certain photos in my Samsung (Note 23 Ultra) Gallery without them being removed from Google Photos?
* I’m only looking to delete selected images from my Samsung Gallery while keeping them safe on Google Photos. Please don’t suggest using "free up space" since I’m only targeting specific photos, not all of them.
Thanks and Cheers!
Went to the Grand Canyon last week and the photos I took normal look normal, but any photo where I switched into ProRAW Max mode looks weird and the colors get wonky, like it’s missing one of the channels? It doesn’t do that in the Apple Photos app. I’m on a 15PM on 18.0.1. It may have started when I upgraded to 18? Not sure when it started exactly.
How do I delete photos on my phone without them also deleting from my Google photos and vice versa? I'm cleaning out my phone but deleting them from one spot deletes it from the other automatically.
The free up space button works perfectly fine for screenshots and my camera roll. However, I can't delete photos that come from other folder like WhatsApp Images this way and have to do it manually. How do I automate this? Can I?
Edit for clarification: They are definitely backed up to my Google Photos. I don't delete them manually from my phone but instead the Google Photos app (there is a "delete from phone option"). My Google photos doesn't actually show photos that aren't backed up or backing up (I know this because it doesn't show any photos that aren't in the folders I've selected to back up. There has been a mystery of where all these photos were for a while until I discovered that only the main folders were backing up)
I have photos of three ginger cats, each with their own pet thing. One is dead, so I no longer get photos of him. Another is only the neighbours, so there's very few photos. The last is my current and very alive cat. The last has photos coming in almost daily.
Originally, I just had a pet for my now dead cat. After I got the new cat, I renamed the folder for both the cats since I noticed that all the ginger cat photos are going into one. Recently, I discovered how to edit the pet, and now each cat has its own pet. However, all the photos go into the original pet folder I have, plus there's all the old ones (I originally moved the photos to the right pet, but I synced Photos with my WhatsApp folder and omg there's a lot of photos). How do I make it so that the photos go into the right folder? There's too many photos to change them all individually. I'm not worried about my neighbours cat, since there's so few photos I can just deal with it, but how can I make future photos go into the right folder, and how can I move all of my old photos en masse, as there's too many to do individually.
Additionally, a few of the photos are stuck with the dead cat even though it's not him, and I can't change it (I have the same problem with my two cousins, since one is a baby). If you have any advice on how to fix this as well, that would be greatly appreciated.
For years I have been using DigiKam to organize, tag, and label my photos which I would then export to Google Photos. The title and description would always be transferred over.
Lately there has been some API issues with the Google and Digikam so I was going to upload them normally but the title disappears and the description goes into a spot called Other on the bottom.
Is there any way to upload my pictures and keep the title and descriptions, either through Google or a third party app? The idea of redoing all the titles and copy/pasting the descriptions for a years worth of pictures is depressing.
Basically I want to make a family shared album but because it's the whole family I was curious if there was a limit to the number of photos on the album. Also, is there a limit to the number of accounts that can be added to a shared album? Do other peoples photos on the shared account get added to your storage amount?
I’ve been searching for a solution for months! My backup space on google photos is practically full, but somehow all the photos are useless screenshots that I have to get rid of manually. How do I stop my phone from uploading on google photos the screenshots album? help mee (also excuse my english, as it isn’t my first language)
Does anyone know if I turn on Optimized Photos on my iphone (full resolution on icloud but reduced size on local storage), is google photos able to backup the full resolution version, or are they backing up the smaller sized photos? Thanks.
Sorry if this has been covered before; nothing came up when I searched.
I have a Google Photos album with 699 items. I'd like to print all of them into a physical album, but there is a limit of 245 photos per album/book. Fine, I thought, I will separate them into 3 albums and purchase each of them. However, I can't seem to separate the photos from the larger album. I tried downloading to my PC and sorting there, but they downloaded out of order and without any data (such as date) to sort them chronologically.
Any advice? The albums are of my family's trip to Europe in 2022 and I really wanted to give them as a Christmas present. TIA
Hi,
my wife got a new phone, switch from iphone to Pixel. Earlier we had her photos on the iphone backed up to my Gmail account. On the iphone we just added mine assecond account in Google Photos. Now on her Pixel I can only add my Gamil account to the phone overall which means she has access to e.g. my emails too.
Is there a way to still backup her photos to my Gmail Photos account, give her access to all my photos so that we both see all our photos together but still only have all photos backed up to my account? Sure we can enable partner sharing in both directions but that still means her photos on her phone are either not backed up (means the storage will run full soon) or are backed up again to our family plan for Google One together with the instance which is already backed up from my phone
Hello. Need help. I accidentally clicked "same" when Google photos asked me if the 2 person are same or different. How to undo this?
Googe photos is taking 13 gigs of storage
However, I have about 40 photos in total on google photos. (Checked on laptop)
Not sure what is taking space
In the review and delete section, I see about 23MB worth of suggestions
trash is empty
nothing in locked folder
No archive
No unspported videos
I turned backup off on my device
I know you can search for all photos in a month if you type Month Year.
But wat else can I do?
What are all the Google Photos Search and Filter Methods?
EDIT: I came up with a quick solution! I switched to Samsung Messages. Everything transferred perfectly and I was able to set up preferences, so I have bubbles back to differentiate the messages. AND, I won't be using even more Google storage!
THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED ME!! 💜 (I'm not yelling, just making sure you see my appreciation! 😁)
First, I ask that you have mercy on me. I'm not savvy, and Google is taking full advantage of that. I have a few different thoughts, frustrations, situations going on, I'm overwhelmed, and I don't even know where to begin.
My understanding is that the Google text app will begin taking up even more storage. Is that correct? If so, that makes my situation urgent.
One problem I have is that my old phone is STILL continuously being backed up, which I don't know how to stop. I'm afraid if I do the wrong thing I'll lose something (I have no idea what.) When I tried to delete it, I got the impression that I was going to be deleting everything across the board on my entire Google account. Would an honest person please advise me on how to handle this?
Another problem, I will admit, I have thousands of pictures on my account from clear back in 2007! I backed them up to an external drive several months ago. I need to delete MANY photos, which will take me a very long time. Since Message+ is going away in days, I need to figure out the most efficient way to get my mess cleaned up.
As I'm delving into my Google photos, I'm discovering that several "special features" have been created FOR me. I'm getting more and more angry as I discover things like a 2020 graduation file for my daughter having 735 pics (uh, we were quarantined, so grad didn't happen!). Google took it upon themselves to copy EVERY photo of her into that album. Since they are duplicated from the original photos, that alone was suddenly 1470!
In "Explore," Google has created new albums according to topics they've dreamed up. In "Places," I have 57 albums, then there's "Documents" with a bunch, and "Things" with 79 albums. Then there's the animated "Creations!" 🤬
I thought my "storage saver" setting would limit the size of the new photos I add, but photos I took in the last few days range from 167.9KB to 10.8MB. That's obviously not helping!
I was doing JUST fine filling up my storage, and this is infuriating!
Can someone help me figure this out? (I know little kids are so savvy these days, I'm sure if I asked a 5-year old they could manage it in a heartbeat! 🙄 LOL) Thanks for enduring my whining and panic!
I used to be able to do the above easily but I can no longer do so. Google says to add to device but that option (which used to be there) has disappeared. Please help.
If I’m backing up a bunch of photos on google photos will the photos remain even if I delete them from my phone? (I’m running out of storage) And will the metadata be retained when I download the pictures back?
Hello everybody,
My Google Drive is full and 13.21 GB of it is taken by Photos.
I turned off the sync function and never uploaded new photos since Google Photos stopped being free. I even deleted the app from the phone so nothing is getting uploaded.
How can I make it so all the things I have now on Photos, would not take up space on my Drive?
I added my Google Photos settings so you can see if I set something wrong:
Thanks in advance !
Hello !
I recently used the "Free up space" feature in Google Photos, which successfully backed up my photos to the cloud. However, I’ve encountered an issue since then: I can no longer view these cloud-saved photos within specific folders in other apps.
For instance, I often export photos from the Lightroom app and access them directly through the "Lightroom" folder in my gallery. Now, however, Google Photos only shows photos stored locally on my device, not the ones saved to the cloud. This change disrupts my workflow, as I used to rely on folder organization to quickly access photos across different apps.
Could you please advise on how I can regain access to cloud-saved photos within specific folders in the app? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
Hi so basically I want to hide/archive a bunch of photos from my old job from my iPhone 14 pro running iOS 18.0.1. I'm wondering if there's a good way to do it using Google Photos? I started to hide all the faces from memories but since I have pictures of TONS of people on my phone it's not feasible to just hide them all from memories you know? I also don't super want to look through all the photos because of painful memories. Thanks for any advice!!
I just deleted almost one GB of stuff from Google Drive and more than one GB from Google Photos. All of a sudden, it showed that everything was being backed up again and increased my storage by 1 GB again. It keeps showing low storage.
Is this just a trick to get me to buy extra storage?
I've deleted some videos and photos from my account (via pc), but when I look on Google Photo in my phone, they are all there. Can someone explain me how?
Also, I have another question: Why if I have my photos on my account, and then I change account they are also there?
Thank you for your time!
My Google account has reached 100% of its storage and it's mostly caused by the amount of photos/videos in my library.
What's the easiest way to transfer media from one account to another? TIA
Hey,
Are any of you unable to drag and drop images into Google Photos site?
It hasn't been working for me for several days now.
I cleared cached and cookies to no avail.
Is this a widespread issue?
Have any of you been able to overcome this problem?
Thanks!
The new functionality for shared album link sharing is that users who are logged in are auto-joined to the album as soon as they open the link. This seems to be some A/B but even in the case that they have to opt-in to joining doxing is still made easy for attackers.
This is because when you join your display name (which for many people is their real name) is added to the list of collaborators at the top.
So an example method of attack is for someone posting enticing pics on Reddit and offering to share more with people or a specific target, the victim then follows a link to the album and automatically or intentionally joins the album and their name may now be available to the attacker.
It's not difficult to see how this could be used to target specific people with minimal social engineering.
This needs to be fixed by Google, sharing names related to google accounts should not be a requirement to join an album (or see a public one with the new functionality). Moreover it breaks GDPR requirements as users aren't being asked if they want to share their name or display name (both personally identifiable information) to a public page.
I've reported this to Google, and reporting now to ICO the UK's data commissioner.
If anyone here works at Google, this needs to be fixed immediately, there's some amount of user responsibility but the new functionality in particular means that in some cases any person clicking a link on Reddit or elsewhere can be revealing their real name to someone without realising it.
Hi there! I have an album with cherry picked photos & videos, and just want to do a quick slide show to present on my little boy first bday. Is it possible to do that from the iPhone? And from the web with pc?
I’m talking about 500photos Thanks
