Ok so I am a super sentimental kinda person and have always been the only one in my relationships like this... That is until I met my soulmate in May of '23. She is extremely sentimental, screenshotting and screen recording tons of our conversations. So I added her to my Google family and she has been syncing all of her screenshots and recordings to her Google photos and has it shared with me. I absolutely love this about her. Well our 1 year anniversary is fastly approaching and I got the idea of getting her a digital frame that can sync that specific folder. She will absolutely love this.
There's a bit of an issue though, she doesn't have the Internet at her house, everything she does online is done on her phone which means I can't just get her a Nest Hub and sign her in, sync the albums and forget about it. So I am looking for one that will connect to Google photos and download them locally so she's not bothered about Internet connectivity but when it can be connected, it will sync newly added media.
Does such a product exist?
I would like to sync a specific folder from my PC to Google Photos. The sync has to mirror each other, for example when I delete a photo on pc it should also delete it on Google Photos without kepping the duplicate. Is there any way I can achieve this through Google photos or install any utility on pc to get this functionality?
I'm crying, please help! I went to upload my photos for backup on my phone and then it said my storage was full when I got done. I saw a"free up space" option so i clicked it. Once it was done, I lost all the photos on my phone except for a handful. Ask the photos I have of my kids as babies are gone. I'm on a galaxy s23 and they're not in the trash. Where could they have gone so I can get them back on my phone?
can I recover deleted photos and videos in a google locked folder?? I accidentally deleted Google photo without remembering that it deletes the file...but it should be backed up somewhere right??? it would be absurd if its not backed up somewhere outside google photos.....
I don't use Google Photos and I accidentally turned it on. Now it's completely maxed out my Google storage and has seemingly deleted any photos from my gallery that I don't have space to back up. How do revert this whole thing? Deleting photos in the app seems to remove them from my phone gallery as well, which I don't want.
I have deleted a bunch of photos from my icloud account and i don't want to repeat the process in google photos. Is there a way to sync my 'clean' icloud photos with google photos?
Also important, I have some older google photos data I want to maintain as I didn't had icloud at the time, so a complete erase and sync won't work for me.
Thanks in advance!
I use a Samsung phone, and in the DCIM folder (default Camera folder for Google Photos), there are Camera, TikTok, and Screenshots folders. When I move one out, the next screenshot or TikTok video creates a new folder in DCIM. The app syncs all DCIM media, including TikTok and Screenshots, in the Camera folder in the cloud. How can I separate each folder in app?
It currently is just uploading everything into one big unstructured collection of photos which I then have to go into to separate into folders, which takes ages especially after I've already separated them into folders on my phone.
If there was a way to upload folders to photos and keep the photos in that same container/folder, it would be ideal. Please could someone help me?
Also is there a way to download a photos album as a folder on your phone?
I've been downloading pictures from google photos for a while, and recently, maybe in the last month or two, pictures I'm downloading now have no info at all, not even the date.
Now, when I download:

What's going on?
Is there any fix?
I have quite a bunch of photos/videos that I took without remembering the automatic back up from Google Photos was on, and so these occupied some space from my 15 GB that could have been used for more relevant stuff, but I also don't wanna delete them.
Would making a zip file of those videos and pics and then upload that to Google Drive deleting all of them from Photos be a good idea or should I move them to an alternative app? (if so, which one? I tried using Mega but they seem to have security issues)
I'm using a Pixel 7 Pro and use Google Fi with v6.63 of photos. I've cleared the cache and restarted the phone with no success. I have enough space on both the device and my google account that it doesn't seem to be the problem either.
Any other suggestions for a fix?
Also, I just want to say how incredibly disappointed I am with Photos. Chat has been broken for the better part of a year and now the entire application is completely unusable. I can't share or receive photos.
Here's the situation: My wife and I are on a family, shared Google One storage situation. We do not have Partner Sharing turned on. We have a shared Google Photos album where pictures of our kid get automatically saved in it. Only she and I have access. Pictures she took of him are in the album, and not a problem. Pictures I took of him on my phone are in the album and saved to my wife's account, thereby creating duplicates and doubling the storage used. (then they also get re-added to the shared album).
First question: how do we prevent this from happening with all future pictures that I take of him? -- This might be resolved. The only theory we have is that sometime recently she accidentally clicked "save photos" when looking at the shared album, putting them all in her account
Second question, more important question: how do we un-do the damage already done (e.g. find and delete all historical photos on her account that I took)?
Is there a way make Top Shot photos or videos have the bounce effect like an iPhone? I don't care much for the repeating gif of a Top Shot photo.
i been trying to download a video off my account its about 600mb but it gives me this error halfway through downloading i also have plenty of space in my phone
So I have about 700GB worth of photos organized in albums in google drive, but I’m looking to switch all of them to Google Photos. However in google drive I have already created each folder for each specific event throughout the years so I was wondering if there is a way to select all folders and transfer them to google photos as albums.
E.g. I select the folders Birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve on google drive, and when I transfer them I see in my google photos the corresponding albums named Birthday, Christmas, and New Years Eve
I tried to be as clear as I could, but if you need any more details or anything else please ask without hesitation
So I am using an university account so I have Unlimited Google Photos storage up to the end of this month, I would like to compress my data from Original quality to Storage saver quality but I do not see this option in this account, what could I do?
So I have some photos that are on an account, and I have enabled partner sharing to an alt account. The storage has gotten full, so I was wondering if I could delete all the photos on that account but the photos would stay on the partner sharing account? Or would it delete all the photos? Thanks!
I have the google account with unlimited storage (university account). The storage that I used is 40TB(including photos and videos). I had been recording video in 4K resolution for all time. The photos and videos uploaded without any quality loss. That's why the size of all my photos and videos is too large. My account will delete soon after I graduate. How can I save or download those videos and photos? I want to download with less data.
This app is horrible. It says cloud storage is full, but i am not able to find only cloud saved fotos on my device. Under "fotos" tab, it shows all and even i delete fotos witch cloud symbol, it deletes all of them, also locally.
I have no pc and a lot of people say, that you have to use a pc for that. Please help, i was able to copy cloud fotos (with cloud symbol to internal storage) but cant delete them, cause it delete all of them!
This ahould be an easy thing to do, why is that such a complicated mess? I think google wants me to buy more storage, would be much easier!
I have a lot of photo's stored in Google photos which is handy to apply directly to my Blogger blog.
However, I cannot find any way to add text, draw lines or shapes to the photos on PC. I do not (or want to use) Android phone to do it.
Is there an application or web based way I can access on my PC the photos stored in Google Photos and something more than the Basic editing? I would note that PAYING for Google one does NOT include this pretty basic functionality.
I made an album on Google photos, is it possible to just backup that album from my phone?
OK, I used the metadata updater and it worked, for the most part. The issue is that the Description field was not updated.
My questions -
Number 3 is probably the biggest deal for me. I digitized family photos that go as far back at 1897. I've tagged over 200 faces. I don't want to lose that. Ever. Once thing I did was to screengrab the faces thumbnails. It's not perfect, but it helps. I even renamed the files to match the name of the person. I figure if worst case scenario happens, some facial tagging software will be able to use these to tag the remaining photos.
Thoughts? Suggestions? War stories?
Hi everyone, I've been using Google Photos to backup vacation photos for years. Photos, video, screenshots related to the trip are all uploaded to Google Photos so I can go back and search by time, location, face, etc. All worked fine except a few glitch here and there over the years.
I've just got back from a month long trip to Asia and took a lot of photos, thousands, and run into a problem I've never encountered before: 15% of my photos aren't backed up even thought Google Photos app says they are.
I used an iPhone 15PM and Pixel 8 Pro on this trip and my friends would also AirDrop some of their photos to me because they know I backup vacation photos so I have photos from 4~5 phones to back up. Google Photos app on iPhone and Pixel can see all photos fine. But when I use the app to backup to Google Photos some random photos aren't backing up. Weirdly, there are ~3 specific dates where 80% of the photos aren't backed up
I would select the whole day and ask the app to backup and it would show already backed up but missing photos aren't showing on the web browser on computer. I would have to click into the photo, scroll up, and it would show option to back up.
Seeing this would take forever to check and manually upload the thousands of photos I grabbed all the files to a computer and drop them into the browser. This works for about 80% of the missing photos but some are still not showing up especially videos for the ~3 specific dates mentioned.
I then have app and browser showing all videos and manually click in and upload the missing videos and something weird happened: all the missing videos took no time to upload and would immediately show as taking up my storage space. They would also show up in album and search now.
TLDR: Google Photos app and browser aren't uploaded all the photos I ask it to backup. Some would show backed-up on app but not showing in browser. If manually upload one by one they would show up immediately on browser because they are uploaded already, just not showing nor taking up space
On the left is the livephoto on googlephotos and on the right on the iphone itself. For some reason the background moves when it goes to googlephotos. How do I get that out?
I have all my Google Photos set up in albums that I then set up to display in ambient mode on my Nest Hub and Chromecasts. The devices will cycle through photos, and display the date of the photo, along with the album name. All good.
With my latest set of photos taken with a Pixel 8 Pro, the photos in the albums display with geo-location and the album name, but the date doesn't display for them (and only them). Previous photos from previous albums are fine. The exif data on the new Pixel 8 Pro photos looks correct when viewed both within Google Photos app and photos.google.com.
Any idea what might be going on?
Videos taken on and iPhone.
Work fine from Google Photos app.
When viewed via https://photos.google.com they error: "An error occurred. Please try again later."
Happens to most videos of late.
google community forum you can either reply here or at google photos community forum. thanks
I have been making individual person albums for my family but it seems like besides making a named album google photos has been making a Family and Friends album, 10 of them so far. Some of these are 17000+ photos. Can I delete these albums without deleting other photos and how can I stop google from creating these extra albums?
Hey guys. Do you think it's possible the have my videos quality set to storage saver mode but the photos have the original quality? Thanks
Or is only the original uploaded of the photo having their storage used by the photo/video ?
