Hi all!
So I’ve been using Repashy gel food for a while, but I’ve run into an issue that I never actually know how much is a proper amount to feed my fish.
I just added a second fish to the tank, and with that I’m wondering, does anyone have any tips on how much they feed their goldies? I currently have two comets if that makes a difference
I’m concerned because at first it was only the two goldfish as shown in the picture had black fins and scales, but now it is spreading to the two other fish that are in the tank. Does anyone know what an explanation is?
Have a 75 gallon. The filter is an internal canister filter that claims to be 290 gallons an hour. I know the filter is on the strong side Was wondering if it is okay filter for fancy goldfish. I have kept African cichlids but want to try keeping goldfish with my new 75 gallon.
I’ve been keeping fish for a long time and this behavior I’m not familiar with. I have three fancy goldfish in a 50 gal, I’ve had them for almost three years. I’ve recently moved, and changed their tank around a little and everyday when I walk into the room, they are all cuddling together in the sand. As soon as they see me (their tank is by the kitchen- they love to watch me cook) they totally flip out sand start begging and doing their fish zooms. If I sit in one place for long enough eventually they will all settle down to the bottom again- but watching me?! They are not lethargic, they always want food, they look to be in perfect health (fins aren’t red/clamped/torn, clean eyes, no injuries, no bloating). I’ve been doing small water changes every other day and testing the water but to no avail! Here is a recent pic (right after a water change).
Tank info: 50 gal Heavily planted Bubbler and medium filter 72 degrees Ammonia 0 pH 6.8 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Diet: rotation 2x a week between blood worms/ brine shrimp/ flakes/ tubifex worms Water changes 1/3 every week
And just as I finished typing this- I walked over and there they all are huddled together!!! It’s almost noon! They aren’t sleepy right?!
1.5 inches
Hey I just curious about why Dallas “Black Moor” do that when I go by the aquarium is an affection thing or what? And I got a lot of algae in the back you think is good to keep that in there?
I recently lost a goldfish, and now my other one is very stressed. I decided to buy a new buddy for him, but couldn't find another one the same size as him (6 in).I don't know if the new fish (1.5 in) is male or female, but my older fish has breeding stars on his gills, so I am worried that he will be aggressive to the small fish if it is a female. Is it safe to add it in or should I wait until I am sure the new fish is male?
I finally transferred my black moor to his giant tank and at first he was swimming all over the tank all happy. Then when I went to feed him later, he is always in the same spot - the back left corner of the tank. I couldn’t figure out if he was just hiding back there (because he will swim out to the front to eat when I feed him). But then always ends up back in the corner. After my son put too much food in there this morning, I was prepping my siphon/bucket to clean it out and I noticed it all went to that back corner. I have 2 filters going and 2 air pump/aerators. What can I do to fix that to ensure he has free range and not getting caught in anything? I also have sand I will be adding today so I was planning on vacuuming this morning anyway! lol
So happy with my Goldy ornament for the Christmas tree 🎄 🐟 My goldfish approve.
So I fell into owning my 2yr old goldfish by winning him at the fair and I'm now at a 55 gallon tank and 3 goldfish. I try my best but I always want to learn more about taking care of them. They've got fun things to play in (even though my oldest is way to big now for most of the fun caves) the air bubbles, and empty their tank 40% and refill about once a week to two weeks and try my best to keep it clean at the sake of my sanity. Any tips people have for keeping them healthy, or any different food they would enjoy? I've gotten them brine shrimp and blood worms before but their diet is mostly just the tetra brand goldfish food. Also if I'm doing anything wrong based on what I said would be appreciated. They're very sweet and especially my oldest is super friendly and plays with me and I want them to have a happy life. Thank you!
So I got a couple. Did not realize how much they spread out lol. But I'm sure it will sort itself out. I'm sure the goldies will be happy when they arrive (stand is coming soon)
