Should i "attach a sling to the selfie stick and loop around my body" or
Hi everyone! I just got my first action camera, a GoPro 13, and I have a few questions. I noticed there are two shooting modes: a standard mode and a log encoding mode. From what I’ve read, the log mode captures more information but requires editing to bring out the best in the footage. How challenging is this for a complete beginner? I’m excited to learn but want to know what to expect. Also, how much 10-bit log footage can I store on a 256GB microSD card? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello fellow GoPro enthusiasts!
I am hoping to find some advice on an issue I am having.
I am setting up a research project using a GoPro as a baited remote underwater video (BRUV) system. I had it working nicely and when trying to improve it I ran into some issues.
My setup looks like this: a metal frame, a waterproof housing with space for a tray that holds my recording equipment and batteries, and a separate light. The tray holds two 9 Ah bike batteries wired to a fast charging usb adaptor, where I plug a fast charging USBC cable. In the past I’ve used a GoPro hero 5, I am hoping to upgrade and use a hero 8, I also have a 7. I’ve also tried to upgrade my memory capacity by switching to a Sandisk 1TB SDXC card. I am hoping to be able to record in 4k but can compromise on this. I need continuous recording, not a photo Timelapse, for about 24 hours.
Now my current issues: I tested my ideal setup (tray with the hero 8, 1TB SDXC card) on 1080p and 4k at home outside its waterproof housing and it worked fine. I tried to deploy it underwater twice and both times it recorded for 8-10 minutes before shutting down. The charging light remains on but the camera powers itself off. I’ve narrowed it down to an overheating issue I think.
Any thoughts on how to improve my setup? I’m going to try and remove the battery from the GoPro and let it use the power straight from the batteries. Am also considering a tiny usb fan to increase airflow but I am unsure how much that would help in a hermetically closed environment with maybe 4 litres of volume in total, most of which is being taken up by the batteries.
If anyone has any pearls of wisdom to help me get this to work I’d appreciate it a lot!
I ride mountain bikes and consistently notice my GoPro 13 would lost gps signal halfway of my recoding. Like the first 2mins I have good signal and then the rest no signal, while my Garmin watch just did well… I’m riding outdoor, there are some trees and nothing else can interfere the signal I think.
The photo shows gps signal lost after a few mins into my recoding. This is a big bummer as built in Gps is one of the main reason I choose GoPro not other cameras.
Anyone else notice similar issue?
I shot this on a GoPro Hero 10 Black in 1080p 120FPS linear. This is just a capture of my FCPX window to show whats going on. Is this something easily fixable? What would have caused this? It's indoors, so its pretty controlled lighting.
I'm looking for a program that can extract the last few seconds of a GoPro video losslessly while keeping the telemetry info and the original stream order.
FFmpeg is incapable of doing so unless maybe if one recompiles it with some patch, which I'm unwilling to blow my time into at the moment.
I recently noticed a scratch on the lens of my GoPro Hero 9, and I’m worried it might affect the video quality. I use this for everyday vlogging!
I’ve attached a close-up image of the scratch for reference. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to replace just the top glass of the lens, or do I need to replace the entire device? Any advice or recommendations for repair services would be greatly appreciated!
Just looking to see what is the best FPS to use to record driver’s POV with a head mount with my GoPro Hero5 Black.
I know it’s old, but it’s all I have and I just want to record my first reaction/cruising with some cool car i’m renting.
The Internet says 24 FPS, which really shocked me. I would assume most people would suggest 30+.
But now I totally see why I shouldn’t use 60. “unless you plan on slowing down the footage”
Any tips here?

Recording from Drifting meet we had earlier this year all shot on go pro hero 12
So when I upload my videos on YouTube they have Black bars on the side. Which setting do I use so there’s no black bars?
Can’t wait to try it. Looking forward to being able to crop long form/shorts out of the same content!
My son is going on his second ever skiing trip with school, he wants a gopro with a chest mount for Christmas. I've searched lots but still can't decide which one is best for the money - it won't get used often so don't want to over-spend. the only thing it needs is chest strap compatibility, a relatively decent battery life and to be waterproof (for summer use). I thought it would be easy to select, but there's so many! Am I missing the obvious choice?
Hello team,
Can anyone suggest a setting for night Timelapse shot?
Got a GP10 and suction cup that I put in my window so I can plug the camera and have power overnight. Camera will be inside so glass in between. I tried last night but I can see the sunset around 2100, then pitch black then the sunrise this morning.
PS. I’m super beginner. Would love to do more but I can’t get time to actually learn how to do edits and all so 100% of my vids are just raw footage
TIA
I recently got an GoPro hero (idk the model) and i want to know how to protect it from BBS Is the diving hard case enough? Or should I look for other alternatives
Hi all, long shot here - but lost my GoPro when diving at Richelieu Rock (in Thailand) this week (December 2024). Rookie mistake I know, learnt to secure my equipment the tough way..
Anyway, it's in a case with a blue string attached. In the unlikely chance you have it, pls let me know, willing to provide a small monetary reward.
Thank you 🥹🥹
Ps. always always always secure your equipment tightly!!

I’m installing some go pro cameras to film a Timelapse on a construction site and the way they want them installed I might not be able to access them. They will be plugged into power, but will I be able to format the sd cards and download the footage remotely?
Hello, is it possible to work that app on Big Sur or not really ? Read there are problems . Can't rind a download file for MacOs 11 Thank you for your answer - help
I knew that you can change the resolution and framrate, but 2.7k/60fps was more than enough for me. But i cant even change the ISO? This makes every single thing filmed anywhere but in perfect conditions look terrible, and there is no reason to it as ISO is almost fully software controlled. WHY?!?
Hello! I am looking at purchasing a new GoPro 12 Black. I will primarily be using it to go snowmobiling in the mountains of Wyoming/Utah. Almost every one I find does not come with a hard outer case. However, mostly everything I find says the cameras are fine to use in cold/ snowy conditions without the case, they are even somewhat waterproof up to a certain extent. Is this true??? Forgive my ignorance. My current GoPro is a Hero 1 from I think 2010. Thanks in advance!!
Trying to delete one of the auto-selected clips in the Quik app and the trash icon does nothing? How do I get ride of a clip I do not want? Thanks!
Hey all,
I've been using Quikcapture on my Hero9 for a while to quickly start up the camera to record normal speed video while out on my bike. However, I've only recently learnt that quikcapture can also put the camera in to Timelapse mode by pressing and holding the record button for a few seconds.
Annoyingly, I only found that out when I discovered a couple of my talking videos ended up as Timelapses!
However, strangely, one of my video files starts off as a Timelapse but then after about 15 seconds reverts back to normal speed. Has anyone heard of that before?
For info, it was raining heavily during this ride and I have a foam wind sock over the whole camera, which I've noticed can emulate a 'finger tap' on the rear screen when it's wet. Is there a screen clickable option to change from Timelapse to normal speed video that might have been selected whilst mid-recording then?
Any advice would be appreciated. TIA
I'm being given the option to choose a new action camera. Cutrently own a gopro9
I love the 9. Only area for improvement i experience is longer battery life, better mic quality. The overall picture looks ok I know picture falls down to settings on camera..
So gopro 13 I'm not sure what it all offers.. but should I take a gopeo 13.. will I still have same issues as far as mic and battery life?
Also do I need to buy a media mod for the 13 to use an external mic?
Would a dhi action 5 be better? I'd like good camera mic and battery life.. will I need a media mod for dji 5 ? I got research to do now but from those of you who own one or the other can you share your thoughts its a gift so its "free"
Also i have gopro accessories and mounts will dji be compatible with mounts if I go that route thanks
