Baby nymphs after moving

Hey guys I moved from a heavily infested apartment and tried my best to not bring them with me and for 2 weeks no sightings but in the last week I have seen 2 nymphs no adults both were on my desk while I was eating in my room. No sightings in the kitchen or living room. I stopped eating in my room and layed out some gel (ik it’s not recommended because it dries quickly but I am replacing it daily) I asked my apartment management to send me pest control. I was thinking about spraying alpine but pest control is coming Tuesday so I don’t want to mess up their process. I’m trying gauge how worried I should be if I have only seen nymphs is that a good thing or bad thing? Is 2 in a week bad? I feel like I’m experiencing ptsd and I want to know if I am overreacting or this the start for another infestation?

What to use to get rid of roaches that’s safe for cat and baby?

I moved into an apartment, which of course had roaches. When we first moved in we had a guy put bait around the apartment which killed a good chunk of the roaches. Didn’t see much for a while, then MORE started showing up. A lot more. This time I did some research and found they can fit into the SMALLEST nook and Cranny.. so I look all around my apartment and see that there’s SO many nooks and cracks in my apartment. I got plaster, dug through EVERYTHING and killed every roach i could. Sealed up the cracks. Roaches are much less now. Thing is, we have a stove and fridge that came with the apartment and it’s apartment that they’re living IN the appliances. There’s more again, but not as much as before I covered the cracks. But I want to get rid of them since my son crawls around. Will food grade diatomaceous earth work? The roaches are confined to the kitchen & the bottom of my dresser for now(before I did all this, they were all around the house)

alpine application

I haven’t seen a single roach, nymph, or egg since January 31st. An exterminator comes and sprays an IGR bimonthly (will be coming in June), and I’ve been spraying alpine and gentrol monthly. Sticky traps are clear, no sightings, but I live in a run down apartment building with neighbors above me and on both sides of me. Myself and a neighbor have been having problems with rain water coming in, which always gives me roach anxiety. How often should I spray alpine/gentrol now? I don’t want to completely stop spraying it in case this becomes a problem again, but I feel like spraying it monthly with no sightings is time consuming and costly. Thanks in advanced!

Spraying Alpine WSG after Temprid FX?

I have a packet of Alpine WSG coming in a bit. My landlord sprayed my apartment with some Temprid FX a few days ago and I want to make sure that the formerly sprayed Temprid won’t counteract the effects of the Alpine.

Also is it ok to spray Alpine after laying down Advion?

Seeing Them In Waves?

Hi,

We go about 2-3 weeks in between sightings then will go 1-2 days where we get 2-4 in our sticky traps per day then not see any again for another few weeks. We live in a condo building where everyone owns their own unit so our landlord only owns our unit but he says he hasn't heard of anyone else having cockroach issues. My theory is that they are coming in every time another unit is using a repellent spray- could that be the reason we're seeing them in waves like this? We're using everything recommended in this sub (Alpine, gentrol, sticky traps) and have been for about 5 months now but haven't been able to fully get rid of them because I'm pretty sure their nest is not in our unit.

Pivot

Has anyone ever used Pivot for german roaches? I cannot tell what class it is from looking it up, but I know the PC will be using aerosol form. I was told this is what they will use in my apartment Monday, but all I can tell is that it’s an IGR. Thank you for any info you have!

nyc roach woes

hi r/germanroaches ,

i moved into my apartment in nyc last month and began noticing juvenile brown-banded and german roaches almost immediately. usually 1-3 a day, and i started getting my unit sprayed by the on site exterminator weekly with no real improvement. my building found an infestation last week in a supply closet by my apartment door, so i assumed that they were coming in around my door. i’ve had my unit sprayed, growth regulator placed by the door, place gel bait regularly, weather stripping replaced on the door, cover my drains, cover my vents, and place sticky traps. i’ve kept seeing fully grown roaches (maybe 1-2 a day) and have started seeing very small baby roaches (mostly dead, 1-2 a day) and am starting to get nervous that this problem won’t be able to be resolved. my building has been treating the infestation and isn’t seeing much activity anymore.

is there something i’m missing? or will this just take a while?

thank you in advance for any advice or thoughts 🥹

sincerely,

a girl very afraid of bugs

Is it normal for roaches to walk right past Advion bait?

I put bead of advion on a piece of paper and a tiny roach walked on the paper and right past the bead.

Mobile Home and German Roaches

Hello, i saw an adult roach about three weeks ago. Then I saw another one. I went on vacation for a week and came back and started seeing baby roaches and a few adults here and there. I quickly ordered advion and applied it to areas of my kitchen and bathroom. I gave my house a good deep clean (I have three kids, 2 cats, a dog and bunny). I sprayed alpine and gentrol everywhere this past Tuesday. The next day I pulled out my fridge and cleaned all behind it and around the compressor. I believe this is where they were hiding mostly.

I have seen only one baby since, I was previously seeing quite a few on the counter at night. I should note I only ever saw them at night.

Okay, fast forward till today, Wednesday . I put a sticky trap under my fridge and it caught one two days ago. It’s still alive… I thought the alpine would kill it. I also saw one way at the other end of my house, away from kitchen, in my room while it was pouring outside. I never saw them there before. However I have not seen any babies. I have not seen any in my bathroom since the initial week.

Does it sound like it’s decreasing? Should I spray again? Also, behind my fridge there was like 12 dead small ones. I also threw out my water dispenser that I thrifted because I thought that may have been where they came from.

Help with any information

I have a horrible German roach infestation. Like freaking horrible. Probably one of the worst in the group. I've tried everything. I clean daily. I only buy food once a day. I sweep I mop I vacuum. I've given up. Until I can save up to move I'm stuck with them. I'm a avid video game collector. I have different systems that are boxed up. I'd really like to play but I'm terrified of roaches getting inside the systems. Any ideas on how I could play it without worrying about the roaches getting inside the system?

Possible Problem with dead roaches

Hi guys so I have a combination infestation with American and German roaches. I sealed off possible entry holes and applied alpine wsg and set some glue traps. Now I have started to see these little bugs that I believe might be maggots. Not sure if this is directly related to the dead roaches but I started to see them once a week or so after I started alpine. Not sure if anyone has experienced this and any help would be appreciated.

German roaches in the dashboard of my car. Bug bombs?

My apartment building is infested and I got them because they were crawling out of the outlets. The landlord is sending someone tomorrow. But they wound up in my car, probably on my laptop bag. (One day at work, a couple crawled out of a pouch in my laptop bag.)

I’ve read the sticky and have been spraying Alpine and have stopped taking my laptop bag back and forth to work. I’ve stopped parking in the parking garage and let my car bake in the Florida sun to get it nice and hot. Bait is on the way.

But they appear to be in my dashboard because at night when I’m driving, I’ll catch them crawling out of vents and crevices. I’m afraid my spraying isn’t affecting them there.

I know some recommend the hot shot strip but this is my only car and I’ve heard I can’t leave it in there if I’m in the car.

Is there a bug bomb that actually works? Something that can kill the ones in the places I can’t spray?

Appreciate any help.

Safe pesticide for cat that eats roaches

Hi there,

My cat is kind of crazy and eats roaches. Is there any pesticide we can use that would be safe for her to ingest if she eats them?

Thank you.

Tips for going through Truely Nolen for American and German Roach control?

I confirmed the presence of German and American roaches in my house. I tried to DIY because I thought they were just in the kitchen, (Alpine, glue traps, deep cleaning) but the truely Nolen guy ID’d the frass in my house as American roach. So I have both. My roach problem isn’t even that bad, I just don’t want it to get worse. Since they’re all over the house apparently, I want to go the professional route. But I’m scared they’re going to take advantage of me and price gouge me, or use the wrong product or whatever idk. Maybe these guys are legit and have a good track record I don’t know. Can someone tell me their experience with them and any other tips for working with them? Success stories would be helpful. I want to trust the people I’m giving 100s of dollars to.

Alpine WSG

I put sticky traps at the footsteps of my boiler room. I finally got Alpine WSG

That big one in middle was still moving and I sprayed it with 10G with 1/2gallon water (I know it’s for 1 gallon but I saw someone say that they do 10g per 1/2 gallon). It was still moving when I sprayed it and it continued to move. Is that what’s supposed to happen?

Moving

Hello all, I currently live an apartment where I've battled with German roaches on and off for a few years. The whole building has them. I know they are in my game consoles and my tvs. I would rather not start over but I would MUCH rather not move them in with me when I move into a house next week. I just need some sort of insight as to what I should consider doing. Thank you in advance.

Using Chickens to Combat Roach Infestation on a Tight Budget

Hey folks,

So, I've got a roach problem going on, and I'm trying to deal with it on a tight budget. I haven't got any kids or pets so I've been resorting to DIY methods like dish soap mixed with a little bleach and the good old-fashioned slipper slap to deal with the little demons. I have mobility issues and don’t have a vacuum yet. But there’s around 30 chickens wandering about in my neighborhood, and I'm thinking of opening an all-you-can-eat roach buffet. The plan is to clear out all the clutter, entice a few of these feathered friends into my place, and then blast those roach hiding spots with compressed air.

However, I’m imagining that this might turn into a situation like the nursery rhyme where the old lady swallowed a fly and I’ll need to get cats to catch the chickens in order to get the chickens out once their done. Still, I wonder if it's worth a shot? I'll still need to sanitize and clean every surface regardless of whether the chickens help out or not.

So, what do you guys think? Should I go ahead with the roach buffet, or should I hold off until I can get a vacuum and some proper pest control? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hoping for some emotional support and advice. I feel like the anxiety is derailing my life.

I have a long-time phobia of roaches and before I found this sub, I had been fighting these in my apartment ineffectively for over a year. It's messed up my sleep, I've missed work, and I'm afraid of my kitchen. I love eating/cooking and now I'm too grossed out to do either in my apartment. I also feel a great deal of shame when I avoid going to the kitchen to feed my cat. She's older and managing terminal illness so I feed her multiple times a day and she yells at me and refuses to eat if I move her food dish. I've found roaches in her automatic wet food dispenser most mornings lately. It makes me feel so guilty, but the food dispenser lets me sleep past 4 am.

I've ordered some of the products from the sticky and other posts so I logically know that I'm on the right track but it feels like this will never end. It took me weeks to finally get myself to trap one under a bowl to try to identify it. I don't know how I'm going to deal with seeing dead ones and having to dispose of them constantly. I'm extremely scared to go in the cabinets and pantry to remove everything and clean, so starting the process of getting rid of them feels impossible.

Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with having this phobia long enough to start fixing the problem? I take medication to manage it but medication only goes so far. I can't afford to pay for pest control and my apt management is impossible so I'm on my own for now. Any advice for keeping roaches out of my cat's food dishes without moving the bowls? The bowls have to stay where they are and that happens to be where some young ones just hatched. I'm hoping someone knows some magic because I'm at a loss and I just feel trapped now. And guilty for feeling this way and not being able to just deal with it.

Is this German?

I saw a German female with eggs two nights ago in the kitchen and this morning I find this guy dead in the kitchen. This doesn't have the two parallel lines but it was found in the kitchen... It did rain heavy last night though. This isn't a German right?
