I received an email saying “Good morning,
Your residence permit has been produced and you will receive it in a few days by registered mail to your address.
Obtaining a return visa is no longer necessary.
Distinguished greetings.
REPUBLIC AND CANTON OF GEÊNVA” Earlier my letter to make appointment at the biometric didn’t arrive at my mail box, so I just want to know how can I receive my permit, do I need to sign anything?
As the title says, I'd like to have my own cat, (been taking care of one for years but the owner wants it to return to them soon ;.;), where are the good places that dont treat you like a criminal if you dont/do have a balcony/garden etc...?
Just want to ask do we need to go the the post office to collect our permit or sign anything or they just put it in our mailbox ?
Hi everyone , Recently Geneva voted for tax reduction from 5% - 11% . Could someone share or highlight details ? Tried to find out info on internet but nothing except the vote has been excepted. Details like which tax slabs , would it be applicable to 2024 tax year etc. Thanks a ton !
Hi everyone! I land at 1130pm in Geneva and it is a transit - my next flight is at 1130am the following morning. This is my first time traveling long haul alone so I really hope to get some advice. I'm on a budget so it kinda limits me as well. I know the airport closes and I can't spend the night waiting there.
What about my luggage? Will I have to collect it and check it in again or does it just go to my next flight?
I tried to look at some hotels but most of their shuttles seem to stop at night. I assume I'll only be able to exit the airport/plane past midnight, so what are some hotel recommendations? Preferably one I can get to just by walking or if their shuttle runs overnight. As a female solo traveler I also want to be safe so hostels with shared rooms/toilets are out of the question for me.
My next flight is an international flight at 1130am, so what time should I be at the airport? Is there anything to do at the airport? Any snacks I should try?
Is there really no option to pay for some kind of lounge access in the airport overnight? I'm genuinely surprised there is such a flight being sold when the airport closes in between..
Thank you so much!
Hi! Does anyone know about regular metal venues or metal bars in Geneva? Found out PTR or l'Usine regularly welcome good bands but pretty curious about lesser known places.
Welcoming all genres (but I do have a preference for black and doom)
Dear all,
I am non EU currently in Zug and looking to relocate to Geneva. Could someone please suggest me some reliable websites to look for the same. I prefer living in WG/Shared room in an apartment if possible.
Thank you so much in advance!
I just sold an item on Ricardo and accidentally clicked on the button that say's its already paid, but it's not. I've contacted the buyer and explained to them what happened.
Now, they claim that they can’t see my bank account details on Ricardo platform anymore, and are asking me to send them this info via email (either IBAN or Twint). I'm reluctant to send my info via email, because of possible scams.
I wrote to the support and the buyer also claims that they wrote to them, but they are very, very slow with the response.
So l'm wondering if this is something people do - send information outside the platform? Or should I wait for the customer support instructions?
Hey r/geneva! My girlfriend and I are visiting Geneva for two nights, and we're looking for some local advice to make the most of our trip. Here's our current plan: Day 1: Exploring Geneva Day 2 Morning: CERN visit Day 2 Afternoon and Day 3 Morning: Open for suggestions
We're open to traveling around by train or bus, but we'd prefer to avoid super touristy spots and we won't have a car. We're looking for authentic experiences that locals might recommend. Some ideas we're considering:
Taking a train to Annecy for a day trip. We've heard it's a charming town with beautiful canals and a lovely old town.
Checking out some local wine bars for Swiss wines and cheese.
Maybe hike and see some cows?
We're open to other suggestions as well. What would you recommend for a couple looking to experience the best of Geneva and its surroundings in a short time? Thanks in advance for your help!
Anybody know what's happening around Servette stop around 6 today? Full of medics and police it seems
Hi guys, do employees of all international organisations in Geneva (i.e UNs, CERN, WEF, etc.) pay less tax than normal organisations (private companies)?
The net salary calculator in this link developed by ETH Zurich is applied for employees of private companies, I assume. Do you think the same? Thanks
Hello, I was looking at this job offer then realized the indicated pay is GROSS pay.
Which would amount to roughly 4030- per month. Am I crazy or is this incredibly low for a mid-senior position?
Hi everyone,
I have a question about état des lieux préliminaire.
I am leaving my apartment with Privera and they asked to do an état des lieux préliminaire.
I think by law this is not mandatory so I believe I could say no. But is there any good reason to do it?
Does anyone have an experience with this?
I didn't find anything about it in Asloca.
Thank you!
Hi, I would like to transfer my yearly membership in NonStop Gym to anyone who wants it at cheaper price.
NonStop Gym has many branches in Geneva (you can check in the google map) and you can use anywhere with the membership.
The membership started on October 24th, 2024 and lasts for 1 year.
Hey all,
I have received a job opportunity to move to geneva in a quite big company. I am thinking over and over if I should move but what might be a good salary to live comfortably in geneva? My offer is somewhat around 7-8k month.
I'm a bedroom musician and I've been meaning to attend some musical shows/concerts here in Geneva, or France. I'm from the new generation so the music I like is what I've discovered on spotify/youtube but I enjoy many forms of music. Ik Europe is rich in classical roots and orchestrals but what is Switzerland known for? Which concert genres would you recommend me to attend? imho I do not enjoy techno and would prefer to explore the classical roots
Hello Redditors - does anyone have any recommendations for a good printing shop in Eaux Vives or Plainpalais? Need to print a large order of greeting cards. Reviews online for shops on the area are mixed so wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a particular shop to note. Thank you 🙏🏽

Hi we are soon to arrive at Geneva on work. B permit. Family of 4 (2 school going children). Non EU. We would like to take up furnished temporary accommodations (maybe 2 or 3 months). And then fix the school admissions. Noted from this sub reddit that the schools are going to be near the place of the accommodation. Hoping we can get the school right first , I.e. a good public school and then choose the area or vice versa. Grateful if redditors can guide on the following:
A lot of questions I know. Will be grateful if you could please take time out a write in as much as you can. Thank you in advance.
Hi there,
I’m looking for advice on how to find a job in Geneva related to IT tech roles. Here’s a bit about my background:
I'm finishing my master thesis in the US, i'm leaving in NY till December.
I’m Italian, fluent in multiple languages, including English, Italian, Spanish, and Albanian, unfortunately i don't speak German and french neither, but i think for French, it would not be that hard.
I want to relocate to Geneva starting January 2025 because my girlfriend lives there, and I’m particularly interested in joining a company where I can grow and contribute as a software engineer/ data scientist.
Here’s where I could use your help:
Thank you so much for any insights or advice you can provide!
*Edit: I'm open to any other roles/ Carrer path. Also if you have suggestions related to this: help me 😉
Hi, I’m looking for advice on how to find a 6-9 month job in Suisse Romande (preferably Geneva area). I have limited professional experience, but I’m motivated to work and a goal is to maintain and improve my French (currently B2+).
I’m open to different types of work, especially anything that involves a lot of interaction in French. Any tips on industries, websites, or cities to focus on?
Merci d’avance pour vos conseils !
Hello
My mom (Turkish) will use Geneva airport first time, with a French visa. She flew from Lyon multiple times.
I am french and live in France.
I have two questions as i have never used Geneva airport;
when she arrives or leaves from Geneva, anything she should be careful? She doesn't speak English or French so i am trying to make sure that everything goes smoothly. I didn't know until a month ago that there was a French sector in the airport...
when i am going to take her from the airport or give her a lift, any specific parking that i should choose? I saw the parking on French sector, i suppose i have to use this one? But i won't have boarding pass and read that you need booking to reach French sector, so got confused there.
i will fly from Geneva in May, i suppose i can park anywhere i want and don't need to put my car in p20 (french sector parking) as it is way more expensive for a week?
Any recommendations for parking is appreciated for leaving my car for whole week. If not, i will put it into p51 probably.
Thanks!
Edit: after searching a bit, i found that French sector is only for flights from France to geneva airport. Thus, if i understood correctly, she will pass through Swiss customs. And as a result, my questions became invalid as i suppose i will not use the french sector to go to Turkey.
Hey everyone!
Are there any Swifties in Geneva who’d love to commemorate the end of The Eras Tour with a fun karaoke party? I thought it would be amazing to come together, sing our favorite Taylor songs, and just vibe as a community of fans.
If you’re interested, reply here or DM me so we can plan a date, venue, and all the details together! Open to all levels of Swiftie-ness!
Let’s make it a night to remember! 🌟
Salut tout le monde ! Je m'ennuie trop, est-ce qu'il y a des gens qui veulent bien discuter ?
