Just as the title said I'm over pokemon adults and people asking me if I'm getting them. Like I work 2 jobs, gamestop is my main job and the other job is just so I can afford my dogs medication and this same fucking dude keeps coming in while I'm at my second job asking me about gamestop inventory when I tell him every. Fucking. Day. That I don't know what my gamestop has because it's been a few days and he keeps being pushy about inventory questions that I don't have answers to and I'm so over people being pushy about "when are you getting a restock?" Or "if I leave my number can you hide things for me??" Like no people. I have bills and am not risking my goddamn job for you. Why do people think that I care about them getting shit to resell? Like???? I hate people that resell for a living. I fucking hate pokemon.
And to the normal and nice people that don't threaten retail workers, or have meltdowns or aren't pushy about us revealing info about inventory, I'm sorry assholes like this ruin shit. I'm sorry you get lumped in with the people that ruin collecting. And i wish more people were chill like that.
Thank you coming to my ted talk. And thanks for the rant. I'm sorry y'all.
Bought a new game, still sealed and unopened.
It’s the Final Fantasy Collection with 1-6 on it, and I wanted to refund because I thought I was still within the 15 day refund window. Although apparently it’s a collector’s edition and the refund window is 7 day window.
I don’t fault the employee’s or customer support or anything, I’m just confused as to how it’s considered a collector’s edition? The customer support said it’s because it’s a collection and is an Anniversary Edition, but I was saying it’s just 6 games on 1 disc.
When I think collector’s edition I think those expensive $100+ deals that come with a bunch of goodies for collectors like in the picture.
I looked at the case now and I guess it does come with stickers inside so it’s technically a collector’s edition?
Currently crying because I feel like I'm being pushed out of my store by my manager. For reference, I just started college and need the money to be able to afford it, yet for the next two weeks, I only have three days. I know she has a problem with me but at this point I'm not sure if I can keep doing this. Between her blatant disregard for the safety (and sanity let's be honest) of her workers and my declining mental health since I've started, I feel like she's made me into a shell of myself. Not to mention that we can't bring this up to anyone because we immediately get shut down by our DM. I just... don't feel like myself ever since this started. But I keep up appearances at work cause 'customers don't want to see the employees sad, it turns them away from buying more'. Looking for a better job so that hopefully I can get out. Wish me luck.
So, I had a really weird experience today. Ordered a pre-owned Switch OLED online from GameStop. After some waiting, it finally arrives—I open the box, and what do I find?
A version one Switch, with purple and yellow Joy-Cons, an Animal Crossing dock, and no accessories. Not even close to what I ordered.
Obviously, I call customer service. They’re helpful, send me a wrong item return label, and tell me I can go to my local GameStop to exchange it for the proper item. Annoying, but whatever—at least it’s getting fixed.
The First GameStop: Gaslighting Central
I get to my local GameStop, hand over the box, and the guy immediately tells me:
“All the paperwork says Switch OLED (Red & Blue), and this is clearly the wrong system. I can’t do anything for you.”
At this point, I’m confused but still patient. I explain the situation. Then, he basically accuses me of swapping the item myself and trying to return the wrong thing.
Now I’m flabbergasted. I ask him what else I could’ve done—I literally had to open the box to see that it was wrong.
And then things get really weird.
His whole body language shifts, and suddenly he goes:
“Wait, actually, this is an OLED Switch.”
I’m just staring at him. Like, bro, what?
Then he holds it behind his back and goes:
“What’s the difference?”
At this point, I’m feeling sick to my stomach. Is this guy seriously trying to gaslight me into thinking this is an OLED?
Then he walks to the back, comes out with a brand new OLED Switch, sets it down next to mine, and smugly says:
“What’s the difference?”
So I start listing them off: oval power button, different vent, bigger kickstand, etc.
Then he just mutters, “Version 1, Version 2,” like that proves some kind of point.
Now I’m just done. I straight-up ask:
“Do you think I’m stupid? What are you trying to do?”
And instantly, he changes gears. He starts packing everything up and just repeatedly says:
“Have a nice day.”
I try to argue, but he won’t respond—just keeps repeating “Have a nice day” until I leave.
The Second GameStop: Restoring My Faith in Humanity
I sit in my car for a bit, take a breather, and call customer service again. They tell me to try another GameStop.
So I drive 30 minutes to the next one, and it’s like night and day. The guy there is super helpful, immediately acknowledges the mix-up, and gets me sorted out. Even lets me pay the difference to just get a brand-new OLED instead.
And, as a final bonus? The last one they had in stock was the exact model I originally ordered. Absolute win.
Final Thoughts
I still can’t wrap my head around what that first dude was trying to do. Like, why blatantly lie to me? What was the endgame there? Did he think I’d just go, “Oh, I guess I did order a mismatched, beat-up launch model by mistake”?
No clue. But at least this whole saga had a happy ending.
TL;DR:
Ordered a pre-owned Switch OLED from GameStop, got sent a random version one Switch with mismatched Joy-Cons and no accessories. First GameStop tried to gaslight me into thinking it was the right item, dude even hid it behind his back and asked me to “spot the difference.” Went to another GameStop, guy was super nice, got everything exchanged smoothly.
Why is GameStop selling this? Lmao 🤣
Just a customer here to say, THANK YOU! Thank you to those of you who have to suffer through such a mismanaged company, to bring all of us customers joy. I appreciate all the positive experiences I have had over the years with employees. For every dbag you have, there’s 1 customer who is very grateful for you all.
Being asked if I have any? Don’t mind at all. But “why are you out”? Because everyone is? Literally everyone??????
I just would like clarification. Reading the terms of service it looks like no but I wanted verification. Can I go into a store and get psn credit using the monthly pro coupon?
Thanks!
There’s a few items listed as coming soon but no option to order/pre order. Does anyone know if they will be availible or does that mean it’s sold out already?
Decided to send 25 cards in to get graded and was told they needed card savers which I bought but when I get there it had to be their specific card savers. These tiny exact size ones. The amount of potential 9 and 10’s cards I turned into 5-7 because of how crap they go in. I’m just so sad man
So… the threatened tariffs… Some of us have already imagined a scenario where hardware has to be sold at hundreds of dollars more than MSRP in order to be profitable and how much that would suck for business (and for us as gamers). But has anyone considered how individual customer interactions could play out? It is generally not advisable to talk about politics with customers, but it could become unavoidable when a customer asks why they have to pay $300 more for the Switch 2 than whatever its MSRP is. If you explain that it’s because of the tariffs, and—uh oh!—it turns out the customer voted for President Tariff-Man, how do you think they’re gonna take your explanation? After all, surely only Nintendo’s supposed to pay more, not the American people, right?🙄 So now by telling the truth, you’re implicitly accusing the customer of being a moron who voted against their own interests as a consumer! That will go over real well.
If im at gamestop when they open on the 4th how likely is it that i can buy the collectors edition of kingdom come deliverance 2? (Will they have stock to sell in store)
Went to my local gamestop to pick up a copy of DMC hd collection and they were sold out. Someone help me understand why people are tripping over themselves for Pokemon cards in 2025??????
Please lmk :)
so apparently the $5 monthly coupons were removed before the end of the day? not just myself but other customers had this issue where it was gone from the account? is there something that I missed? honestly wanna say to just "promo not found" that shit into a purchase.
As the title says; my pro numbers are actually horrible. I try to highlight the customers benefits and rewards but it’s usually “not today” “I’m okay” or I just don’t even get to finish my sentence. I really wanna do better about pro numbers plus I don’t want my hours cut if I don’t meet requirements
Anyone have any advice?
I’m also planning on asking my boss tomorrow for advice too and my coworker is helping better my pitch by letting me know what’s wrong and how I can fix it.
I need to rant, I’ve been having some money problems recently because of my car and it’s made me realize that I work so hard and don’t get paid enough for it, now it’s really made me not wanna work hard, I work full time and $500 paychecks just don’t cut it, and I’m going to college soon and I’ll be working less so I can pursue my education so I can get a job that pays more, but I thought I would just rant about this
I own a nintendo switch OLED mario edition which has a red backplate that can't be changed. It's one year old by now & the controllers are showing their age, which aren't for individual sale so I can't replace them without it looking terrible. Do you think my local gamestop would take it in for a new, normal OLED? I'm tired of worrying about the controller colors & all of that, so It's necessary to get rid of it by now. I'm asking because I'm wondering with the hype of the switch 2 coming out, they'd actually care to exchange it for a new OLED.
Is there some way on GameStop.com to sort retro games by what is actually available or do I just have to click on every game to see if it is available?
Left the company early last year, only friend I still have from there is said they got their W2 already. How long should I wait before I call someone about not receiving it?
Hey SL/2s - are y'all still hourly? With required OT? Trying to dig it up to prove a point to some coworkers at the second job and I can't find the info.
TIA!
It's always one thing or another with them, either they don't want to take the boxes of defective cause their van "isn't big enough" or then are coming through the front door with 50 boxes of shipment when I suggest the back door 20 times and then they proceed to fuck the store up knocking into things.
But today is the icing on the cake. It's been raining all morning and at 10:08 I get a call saying "I have a shipment for you around back" cool that's fine, I go out back, they have all our packages on the wet ground and have me sign before driving away. I am on solo coverage until 2:30pm and im there staring at 40 boxes of shipment getting ruined in the rain before I try to get them inside as fast as possible, new consoles straight up on the ground soaking wet that are probably going to have to be defected because this jackass couldn't have called me to help him bring them in before he slapped them on the ground. I'm not against helping fedex but if I'm on solo coverage they gotta bring them in themselves, and who in their right mind puts thousands of dollars of product outside the door and doesn't even offer to help bring it inside.
Edit: this isn't a dig on fedex themselves, it's a dig at that specific driver cause I have met multiple fedex drivers who have been amazing but I've had others try and take our usps packages thinking they were fedex even after I've told them they weren't. I've just had so many lazy drivers who don't want to help and/or do their job that it makes me bonkers
I'm thinking about getting a PS5 via Paypay Pay 4 in 4 and wondered if I can pick up after the initial payment?
Do guys genuinely think they're going to pull women when they're trapped and alone at work??
Since our post holiday hour cuts, I've mostly been the mid week closer (1-9pm) for my store, double coverage with my SL till about 6pm. But my past few shifts... when my SL leaves, I'm left alone with creeps.
I am a smaller (and younger) lady, to the point where my SL won't let me close on days we would be leaving the store at 10pm (she cares a lot which I appreciate). I don't think of myself as hot shit by any means, just a vulnerable person size wise (my mom refers to me as "stealable").
So two days ago, when two about mid twenties guys came into my store I wasn't too worried, but I was aware. I overheard them having a console war argument which they eventually brought to me and asked if I prefer Xbox or PlayStation to settle it. I told them I've had both but didn't like either personally, I'm more of a handheld kinda gal (Steam deck, switch, and 3DS!) they asked me to explain my reasoning to which I did, it's GameStop at the end of the day. I thought they were just interested in hearing about consoles and such but I guess not bc eventually the douchier of the two asks for my number so we could go "continue this conversation later". Hard pass. I'm actually a lesbian and the only plans I have later are going home to my girlfriend and our cats. Regardless I politely decline (bc I am at work and am afraid any man I reject will react aggressively) to which he then asks me out on behalf of his friend... NO! Also that's lame. They leave shortly after but I just feel uneasy...
Next day, I'm closing alone again, surely no problem right, wrong. 2 MINUTES before close a dude comes in with a trade. I'm already annoyed. He even ACKNOWLEDGES that he's keeping me open past close for this, anything to sell me that defective dualsense for cash though I guess. We make casual conversation with no energy from my end (I'm tired), I complete the trade, give him his change, and as I'm waiting for him to walk out so I can lock up before more people come in, he turns and asks me my age in a weird way, I give him a strange look and reluctantly answer, to which he just responds "oh..." and leaves. Like cool dude. Totally not creepy. (Since I was doing a trade I saw he was nearly 15 years older than me). Don't keep me open past close AND creep me out. Pick ONE.
I've haven't even been at my store for 5 months and have received 3 numbers, and multiple requests from guys to "call them later ;)" when asking for their numbers for transactions. Which I've gotten a lot at other jobs too, but really... you're asking GameStop employees out??? If you're going to be creepy at least sign up for pro or give me a gpg/prp man...
I have brought situations like these up to my SL and she's told me to call her next time I feel uncomfortable or immediately call the cops if they linger in or outside of the store because we've had issues with guys stalking girls my size/age before at my location.
But I'm just curious, anybody else get hit on or creepily asked out in a GameStop? 😀
"Gamer Gruel" was a brand of snacks that Gamestop used to sell instore at the register, along with gaming based energy drinks, like Mega Man's "E" Tank. The snacks were "designed to not leave your hands dirty when gaming", so you could eat them and not have to pause to clean your hands.
It crossed my mind and I tried looking it up, but google failed me...does anyone remember it, or have any images of it?
As the title says, I have several dualsense controllers that have stick drift. I would like to get in store credit and use that credit towards a new controller. I have one white controller that came with the ps5, one light blue controller I bought a year later, and a black controller purchased in December 2023. The white controller has stick drift in both analog sticks, the blue has left stick drift and the black has stick drift in both.
I am trying to figure out an estimate I can get for store credit for the controllers because the closest GameStop is around 25 miles from my house. The store in my town closed a few months ago so I have been putting it off.
I am going to purchase a two year warranty with the next controller…
Thanks for your help in advance. ♡
