Anti burn in features

hi guys,

does anyone have any information about how the "burn in mitigation" features work / get triggered on the galaxy book 5 pro 360 laptop (and maybe on other galaxy books ?)

does it triggers automatically ? does it happen when you shut down the PC ? does it happen when your screen goes black but PC not hibernating ? does it only happen when the PC is connected to the power outlet, or on battery too ?

if anyone has got any information about this, it would be great

Galaxy book 4 PRO battery icon not showing the real state

Hello everybody!

I have noticed that the battery icon in my Galaxy book 4 PRO is not showing the real state of the option that i choose. For example: when i'm in economic energy status and connect the charger, the icon stills in economy mode and vice-versa. Is there anybody facing the same issue? It's a OS problem or Samsung problem?

Thanks.

Question / help

So I am considering Buying the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra with the Intel Core Ultra 9 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070), 32GB (RAM) and 1TB (SSD). I enjoy the Samsung eco system very much. I will be using the Adobe light room Classic along with other basic tasks. This is about the heaviest resource hog I will be using. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these 2 items and if so, how well is it performing for you.

Clean Windows 11 vs. pre-installed

Hi all,

I'm still getting to know my new Galaxy Book4 Pro 14'. It's got pretty decent specs and I want to get the most out of it. I am considering putting in a larger, faster SSD and starting from scratch with a fresh Windows 11 installation.

My questions are these:

  1. Am I missing out on a lot, if I go a clean Windows 11 without all the Samsung apps?
  2. Will I get a better performance without what some might see as bloatware, or won't it make any difference, performance wise?

I don't have any other Samsung devices, so I'm not missing out on any clever ways on connecting them to each other. I have an iPhone, if that's relevant.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Stylus pen for Galaxy Book4 Pro (non-360)

Hi all,

I just bought a Galaxy Book4 Pro. Loving it so far. I stupidly trusted Copilot's reply and bought an S Pen for the Galaxy S24. Turns out I now have no way of charging it. I will be returning it since I can't find a way.

Can anyone suggest a pen that will work well with my laptop and not break the bank? I want to dabble in drawing with it, so it should have some kind of pressure sensitivity or whichever way you typically get a dynamic drawing experience. I have no experience with it, so I don't know the correct lingo.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is the potential screen cracking only an issue with the 16 inch OLED?

For instance, if i were to buy the 15.6 LED screen , or a smaller OLED there would likely not be any issues?

Galaxy book 4 edge vs tab ultra 9

If I own a tab 9 ultra, would you recommend getting the book edge 4? I see good deals for the latter but am mostly interested in it because it's a laptop and has copilot on it. I do have the keyboard for the ultra 9. I also wanted to stay in the samsung ecosystem so I can move from phone to tablet to computer.

If I got the edge 4, would it be redundant and I should sell the ultra 9?

Is the Galaxy Book4 good for Uni?

I'm an architecture student and I've been looking at the Book4 for a while and comparing it with the Book4 pro. Will the intel core 7 and 16gb of ram Book4 be good enough for office tasks, autocad and revit (3d modeling)?

The Book4 Pro has a touchscreen and an Intel Core 7 ultra and a slighlty better graphics card, but is it worth the almost 500€ difference?

Book 4 Ultra accessories

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a sleeve or pouch, or anything similar where I can store my Ultra 4. I checked samsungs store and there isn't one for the U4, however I see one that is for the
Book 3 Ultra slim pouch (16 inch), has anyone tried it with the Ultra 4? Both being 16 inch screens with the same sizes, I'd hope it would work.

Also my Ultra 4 has a small creak when opening/closing or just generally moving the screen, does anyone have any similar experience? If so did you send it back for repairs?

Need help which convertible Notebook i should buy

HI,

i want to buy a convertible Laptop with 2in1 functionality. I will start my Teacher courses in january and will have to write much on the display. thts why i want a convertible as i really like writing on them with the pen. But i also want to take it to my courses, teaching classes. Most of the time i will probably only use oneNote, Word power point etc. But also CaD software as im going to teach in a technical field. I have a powerful tower at home so i dont need it for gaming.

I dont know how much Ram i need but i read it should be atleast 16 gb?

for ssd i dont know maybe 512gb is enough.

And processor i have no idea whats good or bad.

i really love oled displays so i would want one with that. but i dont know if thats really necessary as i have a big Oled tv at home. But they are so prettyyy.

I want a 16 zoll display (bigger the better) :P

And i need a pen, as this is the main part why i want one.

Moneywise i could spend up to 1400€.

The ones i found for myself are

the vivobooks from Asus with the i9 or the i5? the i9 costs me 1200€ and the i5 900€ (student discounts)

And i have to buy the pen seperatly.

Vivobook S 16 Flip OLED Convertible Laptop | 16", 3200 x 2000, OLED, 16:10, 120Hz, 0,2ms, Touch | Intel Core| 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | Intel® | Win 11 Home | QWERTZ Tastatur | Midnight Black | TP3604

or the new samsung galaxy book 5 which i can get for 1350€.

Galaxy Book switches performance modes on its own (Help please)

-----SOLVED!-----

Hello! For context, my Galaxy Book has recently begun switching performance modes on its own. I usually like to keep it in "Quiet" to help with battery life but it keeps switching modes on its own. I've noticed it sometimes does this when my laptop gets low on power, but I can't find any settings related to it. I'd like my PC to stay on one performance mode, and not to switch between them. Sorry if this is a stupid question and thank you all for your time.

The laptop is a Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360.

Anker 737 Flickering When Charging Galaxy Book 4 Ultra – Is This Normal?

Hello everyone!

I recently bought the Anker 737 power bank to charge my Galaxy Book 4 Ultra on the go, but when I tried to use it, I encountered a strange issue. The power bank flickers like it's starting to charge, but then restarts and tries again. The only way I could get it to charge was by enabling trickle charging.

Interestingly, when I plug the Anker 737 into my MacBook Air M1 or various smartphones, it works perfectly fine without needing to enable trickle charging.

My galaxy book 4 ultra model is the ultra 9 with rtx 4070

Has anyone here tried using the Anker 737 with a Galaxy Book 4 Ultra or a similar device? I’d appreciate any feedback to help me determine if my power bank is functioning as expected.

Thanks in advance!

Review: The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 changed my mind on 16-inch, Intel-powered laptops

I thought the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 would be too big and too much of a battery hog, but I was wrong. My past experiences with Intel-based laptops have been either disappointing or middling...but I'm happy to say that my time with the Book5 Pro 360 has been great!

Samsung loaned me the laptop a little over a month ago, and this comes just a short while after I purchased the Snapdragon X Elite-powered Yoga Slim 7X, so I was curious to see how the two would compare in terms of ergonomics, battery life, day-to-day performance, and productivity. There are some aspects of the laptop that I'm not a fan of (more on that below), but overall, I've really enjoyed using this over my Slim 7X so far.

Here's my review.

Design & Ergonomics

I've never used a 16" laptop before, so I was worried the Galaxy Book5 Pro would be too big for me (hardy har har). Fortunately, it doesn't feel too heavy and its weight distribution is pretty good. It rests on my lap quite easily and doesn't weigh me down even after using it for a few hours. It's quite slim yet still pretty sturdy thanks to its metal build. Here's an image showing how thin the keyboard portion of the laptop is compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

I thought the 360° hinge of the Galaxy Book5 Pro wouldn't be that useful, but it came in quite clutch while I was on a flight earlier this month. I was sitting in an economy seat on a United flight so there was barely enough room for me to use the laptop in its standard state, and I was worried about propping it up against the seat in front of me in case the person in front decided to lean back. Fortunately I was able to just flip the laptop around so the keyboard was face down on the table and the screen tilted towards me. I also flipped it fully around so it was like a giant tablet when the flight attendants made me put up the table, lol. It’s not easy to hold when it’s like this, though I know this orientation is meant more for drawing than for watching.

Speaking of which, I didn’t really use the S Pen much, as I’m more of a digital note-taking kind of guy. But if you like to draw or hand write notes, then you may find the flexibility of the 360° hinge plus the pen to be really useful. But if not, the hinge still makes the Galaxy Book5 Pro a really good media consumption device while on the go.

What also makes the device great for media consumption is its big, bright AMOLED display. Samsung equipped the Book5 Pro 360 with a 16” 3K resolution (2880x1800), 120Hz “Dynamic AMOLED” display. It supports HDR and has an anti-reflective touch screen so it gets pretty bright and is usable in a lot of lighting scenarios. I kept the color mode on “Samsung Settings Auto Mode” but also enabled Adaptive Color to keep the display comfortable/natural throughout the day. My Yoga Slim 7X has a brighter display, but I think the Book5 Pro 360 has a decently bright screen, and of course being AMOLED, looks incredible when watching videos. I watch a lot of anime, and shows like Dandadan and Dragon Ball Daima look incredible on this laptop.

As I mentioned earlier, there are some aspects that I don’t like about the laptop. Namely, the off-center touchpad. The touchpad is a little to the left of the middle, which makes sense because that puts it in the middle of the main keyboard. This was done because there’s a numpad on the right. If you work with numbers a lot, then you’ll appreciate the inclusion of the numpad, but if you don’t…then you might find this trade-off to be annoying at worst or something you just need to get used to at best. Even after a month of use, I’ve only just gotten used to this layout. I personally would have preferred Samsung not included this numpad and just made the entire keyboard/touchpad centered.

That’s not my only complaint with the touchpad. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the default sensitivity of the touchpad was too low for me. I had to turn it way up in Windows’ settings to make it easily register taps. After doing so, though, I found myself accidentally tapping it while typing - made worse by the awkward placement - leading to the cursor jumping in documents. Again, this is something I had to get used to, but it was annoying for a time.

The keyboard itself is fine. Keys are clicky and don’t take a lot of effort to press. The arrow keys are a bit small for my liking, but I don’t play many games on PC anymore, so I’m mostly fine with it. I don’t use Microsoft Copilot key so I just remapped it to something else lol.

Lastly, I’m not a big fan of the port placement. Both USB-C ports are on the left side - there’s not a single one on the right. This makes charging a little annoying as you have to always plug in from the left side. Also not a fan of the included 65W charger - it’s pretty short and bulky, so the charger will probably fall off some outlets. Other than that, I appreciate that Samsung included a full-size HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a full-size USB-A port. None of these are for me since I’ve long since migrated to USB-C accessories and Bluetooth headsets, but I know the flexibility will come in handy sometime down the road.

Battery life

Battery life is something I was concerned might be a problem with the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360, given my past experience with Intel-based laptops. I’ve heard that the recent crop of Intel Lunar Lake-powered laptops have made great strides in this area, so I was cautiously optimistic. I’m happy to say the Book5 Pro 360 blew my expectations out of the water when it comes to battery life! I get over 10-14 hours of battery life on average, doing things like watching videos, writing articles, analyzing apps, browsing the web, using messaging apps, etc. I’m aware I’m not doing anything too intensive, of course, so your mileage may vary.

What really surprised me about the Galaxy Book5 Pro was the standby battery life and the heat (or rather, the lack thereof) while using it. Unlike past Intel-based laptops I’ve used, this thing’s battery doesn’t egregiously drain while it’s in sleep mode. It actually stays in sleep mode and barely drains battery while in it, which you’d think is table stakes but has been a big problem for me in the past. Also, the laptop barely warms up when I’m using it for day-to-day tasks. I’ve only heard the fans running when compiling something in Android Studio or rendering a video in Davinci Resolve…other than that, it’s very quiet. Very similar to how my Yoga Slim 7X behaves, except it’s x64 instead of ARM64 powered.

Performance

The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) processor. The one in my unit is the Intel Core Ultra 5 228V paired with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. I can’t speak much about the performance since I don’t really do any regular PC benchmarking or testing, but it’s been fine for my day-to-day use. Even in the default ‘Balanced’ profile which I’m aware limits the performance of the processor, I’ve noticed no slow-downs or hiccups in any apps. If I were more of a PC gamer, I’d probably encounter the chip’s limits more easily, but even for more intensive stuff like video editing or running emulators in Android Studio/compiling apps/decompiling apps, I’ve had no issues.

I recommend looking up benchmarks/performance tests from reputable outlets if you’re curious about exactly how the processor stacks up, but I can confidently say the performance is just fine for most people. For most people, the performance with the battery life you get and how cool the laptop runs, is more than you can ask for.

Productivity

Although the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 doesn’t match my ideal laptop in all regards, it’s been an excellent productivity machine for me. The massive 16” screen lets me more comfortably multitask between two Chrome windows, which is something I struggle to do on smaller laptops (and is why I do my best work at home where I have two 32” monitors lol). Plus, since it runs on an x64-based chip, I haven’t had to worry at all about app compatibility. In contrast, while my ARM64-based Yoga Slim 7X has gotten a lot better in terms of app compatibility since I purchased it, some apps like Discord are still emulated and run terribly.

What I was really surprised by was the sheer number of cross-device apps and services preloaded on the laptop. I’m not currently daily driving the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (also on loan from Samsung), but I did take a look through the features on offer, and it’s a LOT. You have things like gallery syncing through Samsung Gallery/OneDrive, multi control for dragging and dropping files, call syncing, app continuity/clipboard sharing, phone mirroring, Samsung Pass, Samsung Notes syncing with Microsoft OneNote, and much more. I also like how Samsung Windows laptops have a One UI-themed Settings app. There’s so much here that it sort of feels like the laptop is running a One UI skin on top of Windows 11, even though it’s clearly not - it’s just Windows 11 (which I love for all the control it offers) with a bunch of Samsung services included.

If you have a Samsung phone or tablet, the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is an excellent device to pair with it. In fact I think you’re probably missing out if you have a Samsung phone or tablet and you get a non-Samsung laptop - there are so many features in One UI that you can’t really use without having other Samsung devices.

In conclusion: I’m a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360. Would I buy it myself if Samsung didn’t loan me one? It would definitely be a strong contender if I daily drove a Samsung phone, but I regularly change phones so it’s hard for me to take advantage of all the cross-device services.

Regardless, the Book5 Pro 360 has proven to me that the latest crop of Intel Lunar Lake laptops is no slouch when it comes to battery life and day-to-day performance. The laptop has also changed my view when it comes to 16” laptops and showed me that 360 degree hinges can be useful even if you aren’t into handwritten notes or drawing.

You can buy the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 from Samsung’s website, though I’m not sure if the exact configuration that I was loaned is available in every region. Here are the full specs of the laptop if you're interested.

LMK if you have any questions about the laptop, and I'd be happy to answer them! Thanks to Samsung for loaning me this laptop for review, and happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

After 1 year Galaxy Book 3 Pro performance dropping

About one year ago I bought the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, at the beginning it had an impresive performance. But now my day to day tasks get laggy and its kind of annoying.

I only use Outlook, Office, Chrome not any more "heavy" tools.

Do you know what could I do?

Battery life in games lousy

I got a Galaxy Book4 Ultra recently and I really like it! But! I like to play Factorio and the battery life is quite poor, like 90 minutes, when I'm playing it.

I expected better; this is not some very demanding game. It's mostly single-threaded and doesn't have a big graphics component.

The power management options aren't very good (mostly windows' fault, i guess) and I am wondering if it's turboing up when it maybe doesn't need to.

Any suggestions for tools to analyze where power is going and how to mitigate it?

Fingerprint Reader Slowly Forgets - Book2 Pro 360

My Book2 Pro 360 has no problem memorizing fingerprints. But after a few days it slowly forgets them.

It helps to leave the finger on the sensor for a few seconds, but eventually it stops working. So I memorize four fingers, and when one stops working I go to the next one. LRR.

Does this happen to anyone else? Suggestions appreciated.

Does the Galaxy Book4 360 have a glossy screen?

I'm struggling to find information about the screen for the Galaxy Book4 360, as opposed to the 360 Pro.

Do they use the same OLED screen? I would prefer a nice glossy finish without a matte.

Should I get the Galaxy Book 4?

My current laptop is the Dell Inspiron 14 2 in 1, custom configuration. 16gb RAM and 512gb storage, Intel core i7, Nvidia graphics. Have had it for 3 years. My issues with this laptop are: extremely low battery life (max. 2 hours), insane overheating even when doing low effort tasks (I'm an English student in university, I really only use my laptop for writing essays, doing research, typical uni stuff) and it lags a LOT when I stream movies or tv shows. I like to play Sims 4 sometimes and watch movies, but other than that, I use it for basic uni tasks. I'm looking at the Galaxy Book 4 (base model), 512gb and 16gb RAM, Intel core 7 and Intel Graphics. Other option would be the 256gb version with Intel core i5 and Intel Graphics. I'm leaning towards the 512gb version because I need the storage. Only considering it because of the Black Friday sale and so far I love all my Samsung devices (I have a phone, tablet and TV from Samsung). Is the Galaxy Book 4 a good option for me considering I need good battery life, less overheating and usage for uni and Sims 4? Or are there better alternatives?

Feeling stuck with my Galaxy Book3 Pro – any advice on selling it for a reasonable price?

bought a Galaxy Book3 Pro 11 months ago directly from Samsung for $1,800 + tax. It's been a solid laptop, but now that the Galaxy Book5 Pro is out with a great special, I'm really tempted to upgrade.

The issue? Samsung’s trade-in offer is an insult—they're only offering me $40 for it. Meanwhile, I don't think I’d be able to sell it on Marketplace for more than $1,000 (and even that feels optimistic). An $800 loss in less than a year is just brutal.

I feel pretty stuck here. Is there any platform or way I could sell it for a more reasonable price? Or is this just one of those situations where I have to suck it up and stick with what I have?

Help with galaxy book pro battery

Hi all this is kinda a last ditch effort as I have not been able to get any help from Samsung themselves.

I work for a computer repair shop and have a galaxy book pro that the battery is not detecting in. I replaced the battery and the problem was not solved. Boss suggested replacing the motherboard, so we did. Still not detecting. We bought an OEM battery and it was detecting for a while but is now not. Every battery gives the same error saying the battery is expired. This error comes from Samsung settings app. Does anyone know what this error is?
