/r/fukuoka
A subreddit for residents, visitors, and anyone else that might be interested in the Fukuoka metropolitan area, Fukuoka prefecture, or Kyushu in general.
1) Be excellent to each other
Treat others with a basic level of respect, even if you may disagree with what they have written.
2) Remember that everything you post on reddit is publicly visible
Posting in local subreddits sometimes treads a thin line between anonymity and open linkage to your public identity through your post history. Be careful of what you share and use alt accounts when necessary to protect your own privacy.
3) Don't ask for or offer illegal things
Publicly posting your intent to break the law is not a smart thing to do, and this subreddit does not want to be associated with it.

I just left Fukuoka earlier last night and now it hit me that my expensive purchase was left at a hotel. I already messaged the hotel (APA) and waiting for their response. Of course, I would be willing to pay for the inconvenience. If they happen to have found it ask me to make my own arrangements - what options do I have? I live in the Philippines btw
Hi is there an asics running store in fukuoka? I’ll be visiting in december but it looks like the running store near tenjin has been replaced by an Aoyama store. I’m looking to buy my marathon shoes there since it’s cheaper.

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Fukuoka later this month and would like to check out some higher end dessert shops. Like a real "Treat yo' self!" kind of place where we can get fancy coffee and OMG DELICIOUS desserts.
Any recommendations?
Heading to Fukuoka/ Kumamoto soon, was wondering if anyone has an idea with ATM has the lowest ATM withdrawal fees. Thanks!
Hello, I keep seeing Nokonoshima and Uminonakamichi as recommended daytrips from Fukuoka on here but looking at the pictures it seems like their main attractions are nice flower fields. Considering the time of year and current late-summer / not quite autumn yet weather, would you still recommend visiting these places? Thanks a lot!
We'll be arriving 8PM in Fukuoka on Nov 22. Would you recommend any good restaurant that's open until late night? We would like to have something authentic or any signature place in Tenjin.
In Japan the highest speed limit on the freeway is 120km
In Australia it's 60km even when driving on the freeway between Melbourne and Sydney (800km)
I always see this boulangerie inside JR Hakata full of customers lining up for fresh croissants. I've only tried their Mentaiko croissant and they were amazingly good. Any thoughts? Is this a Fukuoka brand? How do you find the taste?
Hi, I (25f) have been here for around 2 years and most likely going to be here for the foreseeable future. I currently live in koga although it's more shingu side. Not really looking to go out for drinking or bars, more cafes/outdoors. My current work schedule is pretty flexible so I can probably work with any times as long as it's not too late. English or Japanese is okay!
Will go on a trip to Fukuoka and would like to know if Huis Ten Bosch is worth it to go to. It's 3 hours away from Tenjin.

Hi! I’m traveling solo to Fukuoka, I saw from some threads that best way to go to Hakata is by taking the subway train after riding the bus from airport. Is there a direct Airport to Hakata bus instead so I don’t have to transfer? Bit concerned with the transfer since I have a heavy luggage with me.
Do french people just like Japan in general?
Tomorrow night I need to drop a rental car at Tenjin . I was considering going via Dazaifu but I see the route into the city is closed with no alternatives - I assume a crash ? Is this frequent - will the traffic be awful on this route though as n a Friday night normally?
will be traveling to fukuoka next month and staying near hakata station. Maybe anyone knows best place to get godhand and other tools? also recommended hobby shops worth visiting (gunpla, military, bjd, etc.)
I just had a dental examination yesterday and need a good amount of work done.
When I was in Japan before the prices were not nearly this highm the office has 300 reviews and is 4.6 with almost all of them being very positive, but the prices just don't match up.
Each filling is 15000円, with one of. The fillings being 25000円.
Ceramic crown without insurance is 200,000円
Are these normal prices?
It was like 1500円 for fillings before. No idea why this places is so expensive, so I'm thinking I should go somehere else.
Turns out it is a 75% ceramic mix composite that isn't covered by insurance.
That's why it's 40,000円 per tooth it seems.

For the golfers out there, we’ll be visiting Fukuoka soon — can you recommend stores that I can visit in/around/near Hakata and Tenjin? I would prefer stores that sell both brand new and used clubs! I’m looking to buy an iron set, putter, and possibly some accessories! Thank you so much!
Hello!
Does anyone have experience with Fukuoka International School and/or international kindergartens in the area? My family and I would prefer an education that is primarily in English and one that focuses on values, play, etc (ie Reggio Emilia, Montessori, etc) but are open to suggestions so long as the school doesn't put the kids in front of ipads all day.
Thank you!
Hello, I'm trying to make booking at Hostelworld, turns out most hostels are available only on weekdays, fully booked on Saturday and/or Sunday. I'm surprised because previously I did a search on Google, which suggested December is not a particularly busy month for tourism. Any idea? TIA.
