I truly believe this....

Everything that has ever happened or is going to happen is all happening right now, don't think about the past as before and the future as what's coming up but think that everything everywhere for all eternity is happening right now. Ketamine entities told me this. Don't think of it as in front and behind you. think of it as infinite realities either side of you, stretching forever and ever. Everything is happening RIGHT NOW.

It was an inside job.

So here's what happened.

At the end of June 2023, r/FringeTheory was at about 28k subscribers. It had been growing at a very slow rate for years... maybe 4 or 5 new users/day on average.

So I made an effort to kick things up a notch. And it worked. I looked at what was working in similar subs and tried to liven up the content a bit.

We went from 29k to almost 60k in less than a year. And then something happened about a month ago.

The number of new subscribers simply shut down. Or, more accurately, got shut down. How?

Someone did something very specific and deliberate and damage the subreddit. What did they do?

They came and anonymously made the same 2 user reports over and over again. One was "Targeted Harassment" and the other was "promoting hate based on...".

And these reports were being made on the most ordinary, inoffensive comments. But that wasn't the point. The point was to adversely affect the statistical profile of Fringe Theory to reddit itself. To make this sub look like a dumpster fire.

And why do I say it was in inside job?

Because very few people outside of reddit know how to systematically affect the algorithm system this way.

I first noticed the same thing over at /r/C_S_T

That's another sub for people who like to do their own thinking. It's not a hate sub, they don't harass anyone and they used to have some very interesting/imaginative posts.

But then the sub stopped growing. And then the number of users started down down. It's been very slow, but it's the exact same pattern as what happened here.

And I'd be willing to bet $$$ that they've been hit with the same tactic. Someone uses the report function over and over again until the sub gets algorithmically removed from sight.

Posts never get seen outside of the sub itself. Posts from the sub never show up anywhere else on reddit... so new subscribers stop happening and the sub slowly starts to shrink.

This isn't some asshole doing brigade downvoting. It's not anything where they do something obvious... like shutting down the sub or doing a quarantine.

It's someone who knows reddit from the inside. And for this to be done over and over again means it's deliberate.

Why?

Because corporate reddit has some subs, content and narratives they like to promote. And subs that promote independent thinking and independent narratives are covertly getting de-promoted... and it's someone inside of reddit who is doing this.

If it continues, is there anything I can do?

I might just say Fuck It and take the sub private. It's been fun and it's been a good 9 years. Most of the users have been OK and getting over 57k was an achievement.

So now you all know what's been happening and how I feel about it.
