Hey all, I am new to the show. And I am in season 3. I love Evan so much. He is so cute and witty. I loved the episode where he missed important things cuz he went to pee.. and the one where he losses his hello kitty at Poker. Hilarious! And Cute AF! .
And Allison is cool too.
Who is your favorite character on the show?
You read the tittle. I'm broke, Luke, really broke. And if i subscribe to one streaming service, that thing will cost me 1 full day (or more) of my pay check (blame Indonesian government). So, any help?
Don't mind the negative reviews, I enjoyed the show. There are 2 seasons and I wish they made a third one.
can we just talk about how annoying jessica is like she acts like she’s 11 at least have some reality in the show no asian mom even actually acts that irrational
I just have a question, where was Dimitry in this match? If he was there the students wouldn't have needed Eddie to pull off a buzzer beater and they would have free pizza every year. Im just wondering.
So pretty much what I mean is the colours of the scenes are so nostalgic not because of the time like I wasn’t even born then. It’s just like it feels so artificial and fake but has a degree of realism in looks that make it look like when it was recorded. Do you know What I mean like I can tell season 3 was filmed in 2018 because of the atmosphere of the scenes like search up fresh of the boat clips they put a filter that makes you see the saturation heavily that’s how I see fresh of the boat if you can’t see it by watching a episode.
I do not know if this has been discussed already, but Emery’s conclusion about Grandma Huang’s age based on the only production year of the tractor behind her in the photo (1927) is not really a conclusive proof to me. The only thing the picture proved is that Grandma Huang was born in or AFTER 1927, but not specifically 1927. Yes, that might have been the only year of the production of the tractor, but the tractors that were produced do not just disappear. The specific photo could have been taken years after 1927.
Just pointing out a small plot hole.
...and why is it Grandma Huang?
I’ve been watching FOTB for a week now and I’m currently on Season 2 Episode 3 ‘Shaquille O’Neal Motors’. I’ve noticed that during the wedding flashback between Louis and Jessica where they go to buy a car the song used possibly might be ‘Hold On’ by Extreme Music.
This song was also used in Dance Moms in their dance titled ‘Suicide Hotline’ or at least it sounds like the same song. Idk why I’m making a whole post about this I just thought it was cool. Maybe some other dance moms fans who watch FOTB have noticed this as well???
Have you read the book it's completely different from the show?
Many already know Eddie was not happy how the show turned out as it was obviously a much watered down PC, safe for tv sitcom version of what the book actually was.
The book is actually really interesting and it takes you back to the early 90's vibe and nostalgia like the show does so well.
Eddie writes about how violent his parents were towards him and each other. When the Louis father figure for the TV show was just a sweet nice sitcom dad. I think also what was the biggest difference for the readers was how bad of a teenager Eddie was getting into a ton of fights and vandalizing others property, selling drugs, etc. Look we all were pretty much bad kids or bad teenagers but it's what we learn from our mistakes and overcome our hardships is what makes us who we are in the end. Eddie was able to do that and become a decent person in the end which is good.
Another thing the book pretty much says is that they were a whole lot wealthier and successful than the tv show showed. They were in one of the wealthiest communities in Orlando and he said he could even see Shaq water skiing from his house. I wonder why they never showed this BIG COME UP on the show?
Eddie grinds hard and made a successful life and career for himself in real life and thats probably one of the things thats most admirable about him. I actually met Eddie at some parties in LA way before FOTB etc, and he was super positive, friendly and down to earth. Even the way he dressed, he was standing out at the party as he had a whole original style of his own! You can tell that he was going to make a name for himself and that he was gonna blow up. Sadly I didn't even know about him back then and my friends told me about him as he had the VICE show back which I never knew about until much later.
It caught to my attention that louis says that he and jessica have been married for 15 yrs, but has been in America for 10 yrs. How does that work? Did they get married in Taiwan or America?
I feel like sometimes she talks to them and they all talk back in English but understand her and sometimes she says something and they don't? Is this a plot hole or a case of they are piecing together what she is saying and sometimes they can't understand?
I'm in the 6th season and honey has a second baby. I totally missed that she was pregnant. What episode did they announce that she's having another baby?
I love Fresh Off the Boat (I've rewatched it like 6 times now), but I can't stand Jessica sometimes; I hate the way she acts and the fact that she does not develop as a character. While this is not supposed to be deep, like breaking bad, where characters actually develop and learn from their past mistakes, I hate the fact that Jessica just refuses to become a "better" person; she refuses to act any different even though she has been proven wrong and should've seemingly learned her lesson. It frustrates me that Louis proves that their teamwork is what birthed the family they have, but she still insists that she's the reason why the family thrives, often putting Louis down. I hate the fact that she's a hypocrite, a sore loser, and often a childlike adult. For example, in the golf competition, Jessica lost the bet, acted like the sore loser that she is, and after being conforted, she somehow came out thinking, "My methods weren't wrong; it's the people." I hate this side of her character. (short update; I've just got to season 5 and I'm starting to question why it's so much worse than the other seasons (I don't know if I'll feel the same about season 6); the characters not only seem to face little to no reprication, especially Jessica, but their actions have become noticeably pointless; their actions seem to be a beacon of drama, where everything they do leads to some unnecessary lesson that's just supposed to make you feel better in the moment. I hate this new side of the show.)
First time watching fresh off the boat and I was wondering why emery and Evan go to different school than Eddie and why does Evan act like the younger one despite being older?
Re watching it today. What exactly did Louis do to turn around the ranch and start getting the place jam packed ?
first of all, i'm loving the series! so heart-warming 🥰
now could someone please explain how their American names work? is it a common practice among Chinese to pick another name? and how does this technically work, like, they address each other by American names but keep their Chinese ones on paper? but it sounds rather inconvenient... so where does the Chinese name go, sure they can't just abandon it outside of Taiwan? i'm honestly really curious and would like to figure it out ☺️
The episode where Evan finds out about the hardcore nature of East Asian education had my wife and I laughing in tears😂
You can see Lego DC supervillains, Rachet and Clank 2016 and Until Dawn for sale
now I'm on S01E06
I was wondering why the show stopped. I figured Jessica would have another kid, since Lewis wanted one and they repeatedly dropped hints of just how much Jessica didn’t want that and that would keep the show going. Seeing Jessica as a mom to an actual toddler would have been epic! So it got me googling why the show stopped, this could have easily been the ‘friends’ of this era I’d like to imagine, because this show definitely was worth AT LEAST 10 seasons.
