What is Freaks and Geeks?
"Freaks and Geeks was a television show created by Paul Feig and produced by Judd Apatow which ran on NBC in 1999-2000. Unconventional at the time when Beverly Hills, 90210 was the "it" show about high school, Paul Feig wanted to tells the lives of the kids who weren't popular, the "Freaks" and the "Geeks" and their struggles in high school. The show was canceled after only one season, but it has gone on to develop a large cult following while also launching most of the casts members careers."
Why was the show canceled?
The show's cancellation is partly to blame on its scheduling as well as the lack of advertisement for the show. After 6 episodes aired it was put on hiatus from November 1999 until January 2000. The network believing that by giving the show a break they could use the continuing episode (Carded and Discarded) as a sort of second Pilot to relaunch the show. This didn't work however and the show was canceled in March 2000 after only airing 13 episodes. The following 5 aired in response to fan petition in October 2000.

The parents are likely deceased by now (Harold and Jean.)
I think Kim voted for Trump. Daniel would have too, if he voted at all.
She’s funny, smart, confident, and just all around awesome. Every time she’s on screen, she steals the show. It’s also wild that as judgmental as one would think she is, it’s not in a rude or aggressive way. She doesn’t shun others, but tries to operate on a moral code without getting influenced by others around her. It’s honestly so adorable.
Finished the show for the first time recently but I don't understand the point of Lindsay Weir as a character. She ghosts her childhood friend Millie, start treating her pretty rudely, and only calls on her when needed, like when she needed to babysit but was high. She quits the Mathletes. That's fine. Sometimes we lose interest in certain competitions. But she doesn't find any new interests or competitive tracks.
Her friends aren't bad people, but they're not reliably good friends. Daniel manipulates her hard as hell during that episode when he gives that fake sob story and asks her to risk herself for him while under accusations of academic dishonesty. I like the friendship that forms between her and Kim, but even so Kim tricked her into being in a really bad spot in front of her crazy and aggressive parents, then brings absolute chaos with Daniel and Nick to Lindsay's home. Nick spends most of the season being high or trying courtship mind games and gets ultra-defensive when called out on his drug addiction. These people constantly get her in trouble with her parents and with the school. Getting caught skipping school usually results in a suspension. Getting caught cheating on a test is grounds for expulsion at a lot of schools. She's lucky Mr. Rosso is the way he is because the reality is he catches them in the criminal acts of truancy, of possessing fake identification, and of attempting to buy alcohol while underage.
The whole car crash was a shitshow that made nobody look good. After her parents extend a little bit of leniency despite not deserving it, she immediately abuses that trust and ditches Millie's sleepover to hang out with the people she swore she wouldn't hang out with anymore. She then further lies to her parents about going to that important event at UMich and she does it so she can be a groupie? This character doesn't learn from their mistakes or grow as a person.
What is the point of this character? What does she learn? What am I supposed to learn?
The actress who played Cindy, Natasha Melnick, left a successful acting career to join a band and grew up pursuing a musical career but has not achieved the same level of success. That honestly doesn’t seem like the future for Cindy.
Lindsey matches the success, and it could be a rebellious decision she makes. Nick seems an obvious choice, but does he really have the stick-to-it-ness to pursue a career. Maybe “Tuba Girl”?
It makes me feel excited like I am a little kid awaiting Christmas. Such a great song choice, such a great vibe.
Such an easy costume! Anyone else dress up as a freak or geek for halloween?
Anyone else watch the Halloween episode today? 🎃
Am I the only one that noticed out of the main characters (Ken) Seth rogen we are never introduced to his parents? Every other main character we see at least one parental figure……
The girl on the far left, second row up. I think that's Becky Ann Baker next to her.
And yes, I know that Linda Cardellini is the best looking one in the picture. 😊
ETA: Lizzy Caplin apparently. Thank you.
This a playlist of songs that give me Freaks and Geeks vibes. Give it a listen if you're interested!

I know this is cringe, whatever. But this is the best tv show of all time. I’m just now watching it for the first time even though I’m 32, and my jaw drops with each episode.
This show is like if Sixteen Candles and the Breakfast Club had a baby. It is perfect in so many ways. And the acting!! Just superb all the way around.

I felt bad for Sam he thinks he's gonna enjoy being with Cindy Sanders but realizes she's not a very nice person. that's probably why todd dumps her .
Not only does it hope up amazingly well but the cast is so perfect in every regard. Just a tremendous show like I remember.
The fact it only lasted one season shows how stupid the general public is.
I'm Brazilian, so I'll tell you in advance that my English is pretty bad, but let's go ahead.
In the middle of 2010 and 2012, I remember that some relatives of mine came to my house and brought with them a black box with a disc inside, saying that it was a series that had been copied countless times from one computer to another, and that it was a very funny series to watch.
Coincidentally, it was a copy (probably corrupted) of Freaks and Geeks, which had some out-of-context cuts, which made the series look like a kind of "YouTube Poop", even though that wasn't its main intention. I briefly remember that in some scenes, some songs played randomly (I remember that was I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss) , and it was very funny.
As a way of saving it, I remember asking my uncle to make a copy of that damn series and post it on YouTube so I could watch it, but I ended up not even realizing it and watched it a few times on YouTube.
Today it's impossible to find it, I've looked everywhere, but all I'm left with are memories.
Because of this, I decided to materialize this story here on Reddit, which is where I believe there might be someone who can find some trace of it.

Was the episode originally planned for earlier in the season? Nick and Lindsay are still seeing each other and going on their “first date”, even though they broke up a few episodes previous and Nick was barely talking to her. Anyone else notice this?
Edit: Realized that Apple TV messed up the order of the episodes, beware if watching on that platform.
Just (finally) watched Freaks and Geeks. Absolutely loved it. I grew up watching Degrassi and even though that is my favorite teen show, Freaks and Geeks quickly rivaled that even in my 30s. This has been asked before, but is there shows like either of these that provide the same feeling/atmosphere of F&G and Degrassi without being super corny? Freaks and Geeks provided such a wholesome show that actually touched on growing up without so much drama (unlike Degrassi - my favorite coming of age show). It was so refreshing. I just fear, there’s not another show like it.
Bill Haverchuck is my hero.
I’ve noticed this before and watched happy days a lot when it was on TV Land, there are some similarities. The main family has two kids, the mom has red hair Neal is a lot like Ralph Malph,he wants to be a comedian,is always making jokes and doing impressions. His dad is a dentist and has similar tastes as him. Daniel is kind of like Fonzie. They don’t make him out to be as cool but in another show he would be. Ken is kinda like Ralph too. Both shows are set in the past. Sam and bill aren’t like Richie and potsie, but John had a band at one point, so maybe later they would’ve had Sam play music.

I went to high school in the 90s and they used that slur a lot. (Like in Jonah Hill's movie, Mid90s). Not sure how it was in the 80s though.
I tried googling but didn't find anything.. and then realize that's something the creators probably wouldn't admit to anyway.
