Amazon stores?

For a short but wonderful time, there was a random what we called "amazon store" in peardonville area in Abbotsford. Basically a dumping zone for all returned amazon products. Anyone know if this exists somewhere in the lower mainland. Thanks!

Where to sell academic monographs (indigenous history)?

I have 10-15 academic monographs (actual books, not textbooks) focusing on indigenous history in BC. Some have a bit of highlighting etc but most are in very good condition. Is there anywhere that will buy books like this? Conversely, anywhere I can donate them that could actually use them? If they end up in a used bookstore they’ll sell for minimum 20 dollars each so I’d like to avoid just giving them to a thrift store.

Open to suggestions of Vancouver and surrounding area, I’m in the Fraser Valley.

Fishing spots for a dad and his guy?

Hi all - my son is here for the summer from college and I was pretty shocked that he took a day off work next Thursday to 'go fishing with dad'. The last time we went was almost a decade ago on some camping trips. I still have pretty good basic equipment (if I can dust it off). Can anyone help me with resources for a spot where we might catch something - and what bait to use? Coming from East Van. I don't have a boat or anything, so looking for something from shore where we might actually catch (salmon) dinner! North Van? Chilliwack? He wants to head out by 530am... lol.

Edit - I see now that the fraser and vedder are closed till next week, so we might wait till then, but any advice for locations, etc. would be a huge help

Jam in Jubilee Volunteers Needed

Hey y'all, Jam in Jubilee desperately needs volunteers this year to help with set up and tear down of the stage and PA equipment. Please email Events@abbotsfordartscouncil.com if you'd be interested in helping out or comment below if you have any leads on where to find folks who would be!

Jam in Jubilee is a free, public concert series and artist market thats held every Thursday evening 6-10pm in July (4, 11, 18, 24) at Jubilee Park in Abbotsford.

Rising costs have put a tremendous strain on the festival's budget this year resulting in multiple set backs meaning the AAC had to purchase a stage. Renting the same one would have cost just as much, which was double the cost of last year. This eliminates one problem but creates a new one. This left us without room to hire our usual set up and tear down company this year. We are now leaning on the support of the community we serve to continue to make this happen. Please email Events@abbotsfordartscouncil.com if you're able to help us out. Thank you!

Adult Autism Diagnosis

Im looking for anyone who’s undergone an adult autism diagnosis in BC, and especially here in the Fraser Valley.

The price is daunting but I believe it would be worth it for me to know, especially because if my kids are autistic I want them to be properly supported and me getting a diagnosis would move things in that direction.

I work, I’m high-functioning but have different neurodiverse diagnosis I’m treated for - but the more I learn about it, the more I think it might be autism and not ADHD, depression, anxiety.

Learn to Forage in the Fraser Valley

Sorry, this is my second post because for some reason the pictures would not upload the first time, although you can see how many there were!

The classes are held in Deroche, which is 20 mins outside of Mission, on private property filled with old growth trees. It is virtually untouched in many ways (aka logging).

To sign up, you can contact me here via dm and send me your email so I can email you.
Classes are $50/persom and run for 3 hours.

They include an opening circle, foraging walk, light lunch and closing circle. Generally the light lunch is of foraged foods that we either cook for you, or we forage them together such as salads. Sometimes both. Occassionally, these meals will be simple meals such as hot dogs around a fire, weather dependent. We can't control the weather and recognize that sometimes the plants may not be ready to be foraged.

Our classes come with a magazine like booklet with a bunch of the plants we will find as well as ones we won't but are amazing allies, recipes, and a coupon for the apothecary!

I also offer herbal Medicine at classes, dependent on my current stock.

The classes are absolutely suitable to people who can't walk fast as we will be stopping lots! There is a mild up hill to start, on a gravel driveway, but most of it is flat, or downhill.

You are encouraged to take pictures, as questions, taste foods, and forage them to bring home <3
We also will have a Facebook group for those who sign up so everyone can keep in contact, send us ID requests, and meet other people who love the same things you do!

We also are kid friendly, with children 12 and under half price ($25), and kids 12 and up $50. Kids 12 and up will receive their own booklet :)

I hope to see you there!

Looking for an allergy test.

Does anyone know if you can get a referral for allergy testing from a walk in clinic? I haven't seen my family doctor in years but I keep having allergic reactions at work and I would like to know what's causing them. TIA

Deep Freeze / Chest Freezer

Kinda random but I’m getting a deep freeze and I would really rather have it outside. It’s a smaller sized one and I wanted to know if anyone in the Fraser valley has had success with keeping one outdoors. It would be on ground level with the second floor porch over top. Rain would be minimal (only if very windy) and there would not be touched by the sun regardless of the time of day or season.

Where the socialists at?

Myself and some other socialists are thinking about trying to get organized with other leftists. Thinking of things like building community through meals, reading and thinking different books/articles together, and gathering to try and push governments to build affordable/non market housing, support co-op housing, make better drug policies, call for ceasefires, commit to the 94 calls to action, etc…

We did not grow up here and are curious how many leftish folks are here and if this kind of idea is even possible.

Feel free to comment or DM if applicable ✊
