Please tell us where you found a particular fossil (does not need to be the precise location). This will aid in the identification process. If you happen to know what age or rock formation it came from, please include this information! For users in the USA, you can find a geologic map for your state here, in Google Earth format (KML / KMZ). The post about the wholly rhino vertebra got me thinking. What are the Maine factors you look at when identifying the species from fossil that come from the North Sea. Is there any good literature or guides out there?
best regards Emil
Can anyone help identify? Estimate age?
Another good day on Topsail Island. Pretty sure this is a shark tooth but I don’t know what kind. Enter google, but I thought I’d get a better idea from you all. Thanks so much!!!
I came across this while rock hunting, on a shoreline close to Chicago. Every time I pick it up to look at it I find something new, but I know nothing about it!
