I was so hyped about this during the trailers but did not pick it up after the reviews it got from the media. Decided to pick it up months ago, finished it (not the dlc yet) and it was great! Now looking back, i do not understand how many people say this sucks at all. I watched all the content creators who created a video about this game being bad and read all the posts and blogs about it to try and see how they thought this was bad.
Some say it was the scriptwriting. Sure, there are ways to improve on the scriptwriting. I personally want to have less dead airs during cut scenes and have Frey be more rage-filled. The comments though points out how "cringe" Freys inserts swears and jokes here and there. That's a typical modern time new yorker who got transported to an ancient civilization for you, isn't it? The only cringe dialogues I found was with Cuff being always so self absorbed and always pushy about killing all the Tantas but it made sense why with the last chapters.
I saw some saying the land is dead and that traversing it doesn't seem fun. Yeah. No shit. That's the plot. But yeah it could be better with more interesting points to traverse.
I also heard that the spellslinging gets repetitive as you progress through the story? How? There are like more than 50 spells in the game. And that's probably double than what Hogwarts legacy has. Plus the element-based combat with resistances and weaknesses from enemies makes it feel like the Avatar game we never had.
Why have I never seen one person (other than in this subreddit) who put time and effort in the game defend it? Why is there so much hate revolving the game? I wanted to really have my friends try this one out but I got laughed at when they hear "Flopspoken". I also am worried about studios not wanting to pickup on the same format because of the backlash when I have been waiting for a game like this to be released for years.
Am I the only that feels like this engine/game design would make a great Sonic game?
I really like it so far but there is one thing that kinda bugs me. Does the environment pick up? 😅 I get that the land is corrupted. But so far (I am only slightly past Cipal. I just cleansed a monument that was covered with the Break) the colors are draining my enjoyment of the game. It just looks so drab and depressing. As I said,I get it for the context of the story. But does it change at all as you progress in the story? Because so far it seems like drab lifeless gray environment with similarly colored zombies and just repeating that. I haven't even tried Photo mode yet because I have no desire to have photos with that backdrop 😅
Otherwise I really like the combat and characters so far.
Ok so I just got the game on sale and I love it. Now here was my experience in first like hour.
2.i do magic parkour across the city for 20 minutes pretending I’m Spider-Man.
I go to sleep in game and wake up to find that a blue mist has come and I guess that’s bad.
I go through a city gate and have to fight a dragon, said gate is used to crush the dragon.
I then leave the city and that dragon is back, I barely survive it.
It then kidnaps me and then drops me on a cliff from the heavens.
So overall I couldn’t catch my breath and I had so much fun I don’t know why this game gets any hate.
As of now I give it a solid 10/10
PS I love Vanbrace and the other girl
The game seems really cool, enjoying it so far.
Only main complaint at the moment, after about 2 hours, the game is still constantly pausing with popup messages and taking control of the camera all the time. It's like omg I selected story mode let me just play the game lol. I've had to make a small document just to keep track of all the keybinds and things you can do. Sometimes I honestly think video games are just trying to be too "advanced".
It was fine at first but now it's just starting to get annoying. But otherwise, it's looking really nice and I'm sure the "tutorial stuff" will go away hopefully fairly soon XD
Never finished it. Got the water magic and stopped playing. Very conflicted with it. Its interesting yet can feel so empty at the same time
or my memory is wrong?
I just loved it so much. I honestly couldn't stop playing it the whole time and had to put some breakpoints for me.
And honestly, to anyone wanting to play an action game, I would 100% recommend it. In the same note, the voice acting was out of this world and dialogue between Cuff and Frey felt INCREDIBLY good to the point, I usually play with Headphones but I tried to play without them because it just felt so good to hear Cuff speaking over the controller.
But not everything was that great for me, and having said that... Here are my questions and why I was thinking about them.
The story was very bad. Like, it moves forward but some of the time it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Freya being named Alfre because it means hope? In what language??? Because from what I get, lore wise, every single person in every known universe speaks english, they literally hammered it THRICE in the story that there are no other languages and even Freya says she is learning how to write it... but a very important part of the game is that she learns everything she can FROM BOOKS SHE READS IN THE NEW WORLD so... what is it, do they write in english or not?
It's so full of plot holes that I have to think the studio was hoping to get at least another year or two in development and then got forced into publishing it early... Or maybe forspoken is basically a tech demo for their next big IP? I was thinking either of this because they make a big point, not about the game, but about the Magical Parkour System in all inverviews... Like Bethesda did with Dishonored and their gameplay that later was also copy pasted into "Deathloop".
Another Plot hole is everyone knowing what Vambrace/Cuff is (a fucking demon that adhered itself to all tantas) and some memories show the general population knew about Cuff, but somehow, every single person, including the tantas, fail to comment on Frey having the Harbinger of death on her? I mean... I could excuse regular Joes but the Council? And the Tantas??? they literally say they come for Frey and don't even mention Cuff at all.
I'm sure if anyone would have said "the thing that is speaking in your head and it's giving you magical powers is a Demon" she would have said "Fuck, that sounds right". But fuck common sense right?
And in the same vein of Demons... Was my mom literally trying to kill me?
Like... I fucking get a Tanta trying to kill Cuff but my literal mother? I mean... it's not up for debate, she was my first boss battle.
Sorry, I had to vent a little.
There has been any news about a sequel? I haven't even started the DLC so please no spoilers in that regard but man, I definitely want a sequel.
I care about y'all! Those that answered before, I'm glad you're ok! 😊 How is everyone doing now?
What are the best "perks" to upgrade?
I'm wondering... I'm liking the writting it is very funny, but it's very... badly paced. There is a reason for this? Multiple writters for the same scenes or something like rewritting of the scenes after the game was deployed? (I can't believe we're on the patch 20 wtf).
Also... there is a real reason for everyone speaking english besides "all languages sound alike" and "Anything works for me" because I tought this was some sort of joke and laughed but there wasn't an explanation after this and it's been more than an hour since that.
Are the characters based on real people or something? I find most of them somewhat ugly and I'm super intrigued because they also don't look like ps5 graphics... while this is a ps5 exclusive so it's not like they were trying to make it run on ps4 as well. This is including the main character that looks fine on the cover art but looks kinda low res on the game.
I hate this but how do you know if you can stand over something? I'm trying and sometimes I just stand on very small ledges without trying and sometimes I try and my character doesn't "grab" it and falls down or jumps again and I'm like... WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.
Hi,
Just recently picked the game up and enjoying it, I'm at point where need to return to Cipal after finding the missing man in tower.
Before I continue should I complete as much as possible on the Blessed Plains or just continue with the story.
Thanks
In Australia this game costs $114 on steam.... I find the price a bit steep. Was it a success?
I already did the point and took the Cape but on the map it says I didnt finish this poi (oxys guild)
I’ve thought about getting this game for awhile and now it’s on sale. Is it worth getting at this price? I’ve heard mixed reviews on the game, but all I want to know if it’s running well on the PS5 and if it’s fun enough to buy.
How many of you played FFXV before playing Forspoken?
There is a good discount in epic and I want to give this game a chance but dont know how it will run on 3060ti. And first reviews was not good either. How are the fps's looking in 2024?
I am aware the game reviewed very badly and I did not follow much the drama on release, but this is a game that conceptually intrigued me. I saw it on steam at -60% and decided it was time to play it.
Premise that I am not a fan of open world games, ubisoft games and similar, but the idea of controlling an fast wizard girl in an action game sold it to me.
I loved every second of this game! Sure there are things that could have done better, but personally the combat was 100/100.
The story was ok, I realized almost istantly that Cuff would have been the real bad guy since he pushed Frey so much on killing the Tanthas (the witches). I also thought they probably losely used Oz as a reference with the cardinal witches and decided Cuff would be the wizard of Oz or something aling thise lines.
Also I don't understand the hate for Frey, I personally like her a lot character-wise as well. I am generally one of the people that gets annoyed by forced inclusion especially when its cringey or when it changes estabilished IPs, but this is a new IP, she is a street kid, she is 100/100 love her.
Kinda sad we wont see a sequel as the game!
If I could change something:
The textures of the enemies being "crystallized" is confusing and blends with the enviroment making it difficult to see how they look like. I wish they went with a more traditional approach here.
The open world is uninteresting to explore. It's great to traverse it quickly with the magical parkour and jump from one cliff to another, but it lacks real points of interests. The hotspot look like they are there to give you something to do, not to have a place in the world.
The story feels a but rushed. I wish they spent more time developing the various npcs and the Tantras as well
The illusion level in NY make me wish they made a game like this in a modern environment, with magic and monsters etc.
Overall I loved the game.
Hello there Forspoken community!
From What I've read, you don't unlock all 4 tantas until the end of the story (Not sure about that tho since I'm trying my best to not spoil myself). So I guess in order to experience the fun combat, I have to finish the game? I normally play my RPG's by doing as much side content first but I guess this game is different.
Would really appreciate in clearing some confusion. I saw Boomstick gaming's video on combat and want most of my encounters to be similar to what I saw if it's possible.

Just checking on everyone and how they’re doing! Hope you’re all well! 💜🫶🏽
So this might be a stretch since the code is already a year old, but I just started playing the game and if anyone should still have the unused prime gaming code I'd actually be so happy if you want to part with it :)
I’m at Chapter 4, but I’m unsure whether I’m meant to fight the mini bosses or leave them be. I really struggle against them.
