This looks interesting

So this concept looks really cool, and I’ve seen some racers on the workshop and reddit. But does anyone here have a server that could even run these races? Also, clang may not approve of a lot of cars in tight formation using wheels of all things. Assuming this works, I think some space races and combat races could be cool too. I’ve wanted to do mad max style race for a while where there’s a driver and a fighter and you’ve gotta make it to the end. Similar to the Ancient Greek chariot races iirc. I’d love to see this go places and not die like it is lookin like right now!

Section 1 Intro to Formula-SE


Part 1: Racing Rules

1- Avoid collisions with other racers.

2- No weaponry of any sort. (unless specified otherwise)

3- When pace-car is out you must maintain your position.

4- Vehicle must match the set classifications and regulations of the event.

5- No vehicle spawning is allowed on the track, you may only spawn your vehicle in your pit spot.

6- No Griefing of any sort.

Part 2: Starting The Race

1- Vehicles must line up at their predetermined starting positions, unless it’s a rolling start race.

2- If rolling start race, you must maintain your position until the race begins.

3- When the light turns green, you go. Don’t block traffic.

Part 3: Pit Stops

1- Racers using the pit stop lane must travel at no more than 20m/s.

2- There is no passing in the pit lane.

3- Racers must pull into their matching pit spot.

4- Racers may only repair or spawn their vehicles in their designated spot.

5- Once pit stop is complete follow the pit lane out at pit speed.

Part 4: Track Lights and Meanings

Green- Race is on, and no speed and position restrictions are in effect.

Yellow- An accident has occurred on the track, vehicles are to maintain position behind pace-car and travel at pit speed until situation is resolved.

Red- Extensive damage has been sustained to the track, cars are to maintain position and pit speed behind pace-car. All racers must return to pits until situation is resolved and damage repaired.

Part 5: Types of Races

1- Circuit Laps: Race around the track for a number of laps.

2- Time Trials: One car, one go, fastest time wins.

3- Time Trials Laps: circuit laps, but fastest time wins.

4- Teams: 2 Teams, points are given based on team member positions, most points wins.

4- Boost Mania: Lapped or circuit race, first wins, don’t crash.

5- Last Racer Standing: Survive to the end of the track.

6- Head to Head: 1v1 lapped or circuit race, first place wins.

7- Cross Country: Off-Road race, point-to-point or circuit. First across the finish line wins.

8- Cross Country Team: A race that combines both cross country with teams.

9- Drag Race: Straight line race, first to finish wins.

10- Apocalypse: Off-Road point-to-point race in Doom Cars. Miniguns enabled, Re-spawns at previous checkpoint.



Section 2 Vehicles Classes and Specifications


Part 1: Requirements for All Vehicles

  1. All cars must be made of small vanilla blocks.

  2. All cars must have 4 wheels. Doom class cars may have 4, 6, or 8 Wheels.

  3. All car wheels must be 3x3 size. Drag Cars may have 5x5.

  4. All cars must have their number displayed on each side.

Part 2: Vehicle Classes

Open-Wheel Car (Uranium):

  1. Car must be 15-19 blocks in length, no more than 9 blocks wide, and no more then 5 blocks in height from undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1 block apart from left to right side and 7-11 blocks apart from front to back. Wheels must also be open.

  3. Car must be powered by 1 large or no more than 8 small Reactors and a small cargo container for uranium.

  4. There must be 1 flashing red taillight. mounted on the rear center line of the car.

  5. Cars must be made of light armor blocks, and may be weighted down with up to 4 mass blocks.

  6. Cockpit must be in the center-line of the vehicle.

Open-Wheel Car (Hydrogen):

  1. Car must be 15-23 blocks in length, no more than 9 blocks wide, and no more then 5 blocks in height from undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1 block apart from left to right side and 7-11 blocks apart from front to back. Wheels must also be open.

  3. Car must be powered by 2 hydrogen engines, and have 4-8 small hydrogen tanks. Connector needed for refueling.

  4. There must be 1 flashing red taillight. mounted on the rear center line of the car.

  5. Cars must be made of light armor blocks, and may be weighted down with up to 4 mass blocks.

  6. Cockpit must be in the center-line of the vehicle.

Sports Car:

  1. Car must be 17-13 blocks in length, no more than 9 blocks in width, and no more than 7 blocks in height from the undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1-3 blocks apart from left to right and 9-17 blocks apart from front to back. Wheels must be covered.

  3. Car must be powered by 1-2 Hydrogen engines, with up to 10 small hydrogen tanks. Connector needed for refueling.

  4. Car must have 2 headlights and 1 red flashing taillight on the vehicles center-line

  5. Car must be made of light blocks and weighted down with up to 4 mass blocks.

  6. Cockpit must be in the center-line of the vehicle.

Touring Car:

  1. Car must be 11-17 blocks in length, no more than 9 blocks in width, and 7 blocks in height from the undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1-3 blocks apart from left to right, and 7-17 blocks apart from front to back. Wheels must be covered.

  3. Cars must be powered by 1-2 large batteries. Connector needed for refueling.

  4. Cars must have at least 2 headlights, and 2 red non-flashing taillights.

  5. Car must be made of either light or heavy armor blocks and weighted down with 2 mass blocks.

  6. Cockpit does not have to be on the center-line of the vehicle.

Stock Car:

  1. Car must be 11-15 blocks in length, no more than 9 blocks in width, and no more than 5 blocks in height from undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1 block apart from left to right, and 7-11 blocks apart from front to back. Wheels must be covered.

  3. Car must be powered by 1 Hydrogen engine, and up to 7 small hydrogen tanks.

  4. Car don’t need headlights or taillights.

  5. Car must be made of heavy armor blocks and only 1 mass block is allowed.

  6. Cockpit does not have to be on the center-line of the vehicle.

Rally Car:

  1. Cars must be 11-15 blocks in length, 9 blocks in width, and no more than 8 blocks in height from undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1-3 blocks apart from left to right, and 7-11 blocks apart from front to back.

  3. Car must be powered by 1-2 hydrogen engines, and up to 9 small hydrogen tanks. Connector needed for refueling.

  4. Car needs at least 2 headlights, and 2 red taillights.

  5. Car must be made of Heavy armor blocks, and weighted down with with 4 mass blocks.

  6. Car needs one cockpit and one passenger seat.

Drag Car (non-Rocket):

  1. Car must be no more or less than 20 blocks in length, no more than 9-11 blocks wide, and no more than 9 blocks in height from under carriage to top most point.

  2. Car wheels and suspension must be 1 block apart in the front and 3 blocks apart in the back. Any size wheels are allowed in this class, front wheels must match on either side and rear wheel must match on either side.

  3. Cars must be powered by 4 hydrogen engines with 4 small hydrogen tanks.

  4. Cars don’t need headlights or taillights.

  5. Car must be made of light armor blocks and weighted down with 1 mass block on the front.

  6. Cockpit must be mounted on the center-line of the vehicle.

Drag Car (Rail Rocket):

  1. Cars Must be 30 blocks in length, no more than 13 blocks in width, and no more than 11 blocks in height from undercarriage to top most point.

  2. Car Wheels and suspension must consist of small Rotors and wheel blocks, 3x3 in the front and 5x5 in the back. 1 Gyroscope may be used for turning.

  3. Cars are powered by a large atmospheric thruster, and no more than 6 small reactors. Brakes consist of 2-3 parachutes.

  4. Cars don't need headlights or taillights.

  5. Car must be made of light armor blocks, and 1 mass block at the front and rear wheels.

  6. Cockpit must be mounted on the center-line of the vehicle.

Doom Car

  1. Car must be no longer than 23 blocks in length, 11 blocks in width, and 10 blocks in height from the undercarriage to top most point.

  2. There are no Wheel and suspension restrictions for this car class.

  3. Car must be powered by 1 hydrogen engine per pair of wheels, and a maximum of 2 large or 8 small hydrogen tanks. Connector needed for refueling.

  4. Cars must have no less than 2 headlights, and have 2 red taillights.

  5. Cars must be made of heavy armor blocks, no mass blocks are permitted.

  6. Cockpit does not have to be on the centerline and there may be 1 passenger seat.

  7. Cars are allowed a maximum of two forward facing miniguns.



Section 3 Tracks


Part 1: Track Types

1: Flat Track- A block track with no elevation Changes.

2: Flat Track Advanced- A block track that has changes in elevations.

3: Flat Track Mania- A block track that may have changes in elevation, jumps and or obstacles. (non-mechanical)

4: Flat Track Drag- A straight line block track.

5: Flat Track Drag Mania- A straight block track, with jumps and obstacles.

6: Off-Road Track- A track that’s off blocks.

Part 2: Track Regulations

1: Tracks must be in a circuit format, and adhere to one of the track types. Unless it’s a Drag/LRS/Apoc style track.

2: Tracks must have a start/finish line. If an off-road/ cross country style race, there must be checkpoints that are 11-17 blocks wide and 6-9 blocks high.

3: Tracks must have a minimum 8 starting position, and corresponding number of pit spaces.

4: Tracks must have a pit area with designated and marked spots for each racer. Unless it’s a Drag/LRS/Apoc track.

5: Tracks must have adequate lighting, for not all vehicles will have headlights. Unless an off-road track.

6: Tracks must have at least one R/Y/G light indicators at the the start of the track, more along the track are acceptable.

7: Sharp turns marked on the edges with Red/White. Either floor painted or a barrier.

8: Finish lines must have an overhead and side line camera for record purposes.

  1. Tracks should be no less than 9 blocks wide at any point.


Section 4 Player Content and Teams


Part 1 Submitting Tracks and Vehicles

1- All submissions can be posted on r/Formula_SE with a link to its Steam Workshop page. Do include the appropriate flair and pictures, let’s see what you created!

2- Please make sure submissions adhere to the regulations.

Part 2 Racing Teams Regulations

1: Teams are to consist of no less than 2 people.

2: Teams must come up with an appropriate name and color scheme.

3: Teams will pick from a list of sponsors for their team, or make one up.

4: Teams may enter 2 racers per event, unless it's a team versus team event.
