“When I decided to wage holy war, it looked very much like staring at my bedroom floor” !! 🎶🎶
I think they sound a little like Florence sometimes with the vocals, whole album is really great. Link Here - https://open.spotify.com/track/7Md1rSQO6nPwIbT1cAIgso?si=ieFC5nD4QvuY1oJpPL6vWw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3yvHgqkAqnK0ukPymVgcic
My partner died suddenly early this year and I’ve barely been able to listen to her since, because it makes the feels too intense! Early on i did listen to a couple of her covers from the Live Lounge sessions (where are u now & take care) over and over when i needed to really give in and sob on the floor. But i haven’t listened to Symphony of Lungs at all, and even Florida!!! breaks my heart because he’ll never hear it. I don’t think he was independently such a huge fan as i am but he was a great co-fan, he always listened attentively when i obsessed over her music, and never complained about it when i had her on repeat for days on end.
This is the same man who listened to my 20 minute presentation on the different versions of Fleetwood Mac’s Silver Springs and was still up for watching Florence’s cover at the end. Irreplaceable.
Anyway it sucks to miss him and also be missing Florence. But the music will still be there when I’m ready.
Thanks for reading 💖
And my boy builds coffins and I think it's a shame That when each one's been made, he can't see it again He crafts every one with love and with care Then it's thrown in the ground, and it just isn't fair.
This Album will make you Fall in Love all over again! ❤️ Truly stunning. It's been a Glorious 15 years with you Florence and the Machine! Cheers🥂 ❤️
Always love knowing and celebrating my birthday , Florence’s , with such enthusiasm. Would love to know who else is a fan and has the same bday!💐🧚🏼
Edit: if it is, happy birthday! Love a good Virgo~
Hi guys,
Looking to purchase some symphony merch (who isn't) but medium is the smallest size left of the tees. wondering if they're more of a womens medium or a mens medium (soo womens large?)
Those last "Here they coome" = Instant Goosebumps. And yeah, it's Florence's more mainstream song and I don't really listen to it that much now, but damn, that Live version was simply majestic. When they show the audience at the stalls you can see a girl that just couldn't hold back the tears. Any especial instant goosebumps moment from that night for you?
My partner and I attended a Halloween party last night, my costume was inspired by the F+TM song Mermaids. My partner went as a sea captain. 🧜♀️
I've been looking forward to the day I had the opportunity to sit down and listen to Symphony of Lungs; today is that day. And oh boy, y'all, I'm 5 songs in and I've been crying from sheer euphoria. I don't understand why but the symphony backing and her beautiful voice. I've moved entirely passed chills and I'm crying into my tea.
Big day for F+M fans who are also avid readers (ie: me)
i find this thought to be severely funny and sort of pretty accurate. anyone agree or am i crazy?
Hey, I've been meaning to listen to more Florence for years. If I sit down to listen to a full album in order I haven't managed to get too into her, but I really really love certain songs. Can you recommend what else from her discography you think I'd enjoy?
The ones I really like are: Girl with One Eye, Daffodil, Bird Song, Cassandra, Which Witch and Seven Devils
I've been listening all morning via Spotify, and it's incredible!! I've been a fan since Lungs originally came out (Dog Days was pretty hard to avoid that year). It remains one of my absolute favorite albums, and hearing it with the full orchestra and choir is amazing.
Kiss with a fist was not my favorite song but This performance changed everything, FATM and this show are amazing

Ignore the lyrics, meaning, and context.
Which of her songs simply sound the best to you? Where her voice and the melody scratch your brain just right.
For me it’s ‘over the love’ such a beautiful sounding song
Listening from Taipei rn. I'm just halfway through the album and I'm so in love with it already!!!! It might make me buy my first vinyl ever. It's like falling for Lungs once again 😭💖
My boyfriend was listening to Florida by Taylor Swift the other day and got really interested in Florences vocals. He (only knowing what I have info dumped on him over the years) turned to me (who has been obsessed with her music since the early 00s) and asked which album to start with as an introduction. Not wanting to influence his thoughts on her work by just throwing my favorite at him, I asked what vibe he was feeling that night. While High as Hope, these where the descriptions I could think of for each album:
-Im manic and trapped in the feywilds, and I'm not mad at it
-Ive been drinking and I'm having VERY big feelings about it
-"Fuck that guy in particular" can be a healing phrase
-Doing drugs in London makes me feel nostalgic and greatful
-The Madness is here and I am it's King
He ended up choosing Ceremonials, and vibes especially hard to remain nameless.
Now this has me thinking: If you had to describe the vibe of each album, how would you do it?
And the quote “I don’t want anything now or ever again.” It appears in Useless Magic alongside the lyrics to “My Boy Builds Coffins.” I was imagining it might be aspirational, affirming to yourself some radical form of peace and contentment by getting rid of desires. But being next to that song, maybe it means something about death, not wanting anything more once you’re gone? Or a secret third option? And how do the flowers and stars go with the message? Interested in everyone’s takes because this is easily my most favorite drawing in the book, I find it so elegant yet authentic.
