I’ve got an old .SWF file from a resource that was made ages ago, and I’m trying to access its content to archive it. I can open the file, but I’m stuck on some cryptic variable names like §_-k1B§ that look like they're encrypted. Does anyone have experience decoding scripts like these? I cant rename them as there are way too many. Thanks

We are hoping to bring our old Flash game 'Sling' to Steam (https://sling.ezone.com). It was made with Flash CS6 and I'm hoping I can open it with Adobe Animate, make a few adjustments and save as a Windows EXE to publish on Steam. Am I dreaming or is this all doable?

normally i'd use animatearchive, but it died and although i have a subscription to Creative Cloud, I just want something that just works without a million things running in the background.

I've looking for Heli Attack 3 Collector's Edition so many times but I can't find it I remember having played a lot when I was young (The "Normal" version) but recently I been reading about a collector edition (It is a different edited version of Heli Attack 3 with a few special guns, like Fire Mines and Anti-Matter Cannon) and I couldn't find it anywhere.

It seems that it will to become a lost media.

Out of nostalgia purposes, and possibly for Neocities or Flash jams on Newgrounds, I am currently learning Flash MX 2004 again and learning the ins and outs of it. From the library I got a great book called "Flash MX 2004 Hands-On Training", but although I can find the exercises online of the earlier versions, including the official website, I can't find the exercises for 2004 anywhere, while the 2004 book has several additional chapters.

Does anyone by any chance know if these exercises are available anywhere?

Hi guys! I've recently began to use the classic Macromedia Flash 8, just specifically for that classic look for some of my animations. I've encountered this issue whenever I'm exported the animation. Of course I would normally pick Quicktime so I can get an .MOV file, which is the only still commonly used video format, but whenever I press it, I receive this error that tells me that I'm "Missing the Quicktime Component." All the times I've tried finding a solution, the results are from the ancient ages of nearly 2 decades ago, with forums that are older than ME. Sooo yeah this subreddit is kind of my final ditch effort. The only thing I've found and tried is to select the flash export thing to flash 5 instead of flash 8 but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

These SWFs/XML files appear to be encrypted in some way (irrcrpt?) JPEXS throws an error saying they're invalid, SWFMill throws an error when trying to convert the XML to SWF (They're invalid files, apparently).

The "loader" just calls "BoomBangKids.swf" which is the real loader. It has a bunch of strings encrypted with irrfuscator (the irrcrpt function), and that appears to use one of around 5 different substitution ciphers, but I cannot fathom how those would be used on the files in question, as their data is all kinds of screwed up, not just illegible.

EDIT: I can see that BoomBangKids.swf makes some calls to irrcrpt which appears to be function from an older flash obfuscation library called "irrfuscator."

EDIT 2:

Tried a bunch of stuff. FlashSuite, RABCDAsm. None of them can read the SWFs. I did manage to work out the loader calls "BoomBangKids.swf" which is the ACTUAL loader, and is not encrypted. I then also found that irrcrpt is using multiple different substitution ciphers (the 2nd argument seems to be an ID for which "alphabet" to use").

Well there were these games Called "Death racers" and "Death racers 2" I used to play when I was a kid. Then I heard about flash going to die and downloaded their SWF files. Happy ending right? Well that was true until this certain incident when I was going to play them for nostalgia sake and then. The second game no longer loads. I tried playing using an SWF file of the game I had on my PC, and while the loading bar fills up completely, the 'Continue Playing' button never appears, no matter how long I wait. It's a shame because I really liked this game compared to the first due to the variety of characters and vehicles.

EDIT:I'll be looking in the scripts section to see what I can find. Has anyone else encountered similar loading issues with Flash games, or have any tips on where in the script I might find something related to this?"

I recently upgraded to Windows 11. When I tried installing Flash CS3, the installer ran just fine, but when I tried opening the program, it wouldn't open. It's only visible as a background process in Task Manager. Running the installer in compatibility mode and as an administrator didn't help, neither did uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Any tips?
