Title, I just got the zoetrope and was disapointed when I heard the Mokran Mix of Race for the prize. Everything else was perfect, just that one song I was hopping would be the original. I prefer the Mokran mix for Buggin bc it tones down all the parts that I really didnt like about the original mix. I was also expecting the mokran mix for Waitin for a super man but was happy that was the original, also love Slow Motion, fantastic song. But Just miss Race for the prize. What records do I need to look for that has the original mix? I tried looking for it myself but couldn't find much. Thank you!
These times call for new Flaming Lips music. Hopefully we don't have to wait much longer, but there have been no signs of new recorded music, sadly.
Anyone have any inside info?? Next year it will be 5 years since American Head. That's too long of a wait!!
made a silly little connections 😍😍https://connections.swellgarfo.com/game/-OB77LYcIk_GN1j4jMI0 hope it's not too hard/too easy 😔 give me ideas for other sections !!! I'll probably make another one 🤩
Clean live recording of "star spangled a-hole"???
Id be happy to do a lot of things for that, right about now funk show brotha.
Does anyone have any insight on how Wayne or Steven get their crazy vocal effects live?? Are they running their mics through a vocal processor or a plugin? I'm trying to recreate some of the effects (ideally the crazy ones off of American Head) for a recording class but cannot for the life of me find out what gear they're using. I've seen them a couple times and it seems like Steven is singing into some weird pop-filtered-mic-contraption. Or is it all just pre-taped and I'm dumb? Please help!
This would have been 2006 a free show in Philadelphia (Festival Pier at Penns Landing apparently) - I remember a guy took Wayne up on it and he proposed to a gal whose response was "fuck yeah"
Curious if that happened in other cities and to anyone who frequents this sub.
just finished watching it since my copy came in the mail today. (ive never taken drugs before, but I kinda assume that's what it's like.) saw that there's some outtakes and I loooove outtakes, so if anyone knows how to find it specifically ON THE DVD. I do realize that I can Google it and find it on YouTube or Vimeo, but I don't want to. if y'all don't know, I will just Google it, but I'd rather see if anyone knows first. if anyone knows how to find it on the ps2 that'd also be cool since that's my DVD player but I have a PC that can play films also :D if anyone knows please let me know. love y'all !!
Hey everyone, new Lips fan here. Been going through their discography and I can't seem to find any studio album after Embryonic on Spotify. Is anyone else facing the same issue? Based in the UK btw.
https://uquiz.com/HqSu5C take it if you'd like! there's only five options for songs though. 😔 if y'all want me to you can add suggestions and I might make a sequel !!
Sticking out like a sore thumb on that poster lmao
Everything I had hoped for and more. Great crowd, excellent show!
Need help finding a song.
Looking for help finding a song from Weezers & The Flaming Lips concert on 12 Oct 24 (last night from the date of this post) in Palm Desert.
Sadly, the song I’m looking for wasn’t live, rather it was from the intermission music played with the lights on, so I can’t just use the set lists from Weezer or The Flaming Lips.
It came on after the Flaming Lips played, but before Weezer.
All I can remember is the line “I’ll be stuck”.
It was played while Weezers roadies were tuning up Weezers guitars.
It was also followed by a Mumford and Sons song.
I know it’s kinda long shot, but maybe someone has a video of the intermission, or just flat out know the song.
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this.
PS, I’ve never heard the Borderline cover before last night, and know I’m obsessed with it. Lol
As for anything, there is a tension between digging deep and going broad. Since they came out, I have always loved Yoshimi and the Soft Bulletin, and when American Head came out, I was blown away. But I have yet to go deep into the catalog, and just started listening to the Flaming Lips from the beginning. As with many bands that have been around for a while, the first album doesn't really represent what the band evolves to become. So, I was interested to listen to Hear It Is, and though you can hear some hints at what they might evolve to, it mostly reminded me of the Replacements (which was also noted by others I have noticed). So, my question: What album would you say represents the clearest transition point between the version on Hear It Is to what THE Flaming Lips eventually became? Thanks!
When you're listening to a Flaming Lips album, what three-song sequence (if you have one) really makes you say, "I fuckin' love this record" or otherwise just pushes the right button for you?
Mine is In the Morning of the Magicians, Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell, and Are You a Hypnotist?? from Yoshimi. Some of y'all might think this is a dumb question but I had to get it out there.
Anyone have it before? Can’t wait to taste it later.
I have a version in my collection that starts with some random chatter and room sound and then abruptly switches to the band playing some notes and Wayne going “Did they go to us…?”
Where is this from? I’ve had it so long I forgot where it came from. It’s not in Apple Music.
