Bula and welcome to the Fiji Islands Subreddit! Since /r/fiji is actually about a fraternity, this subreddit was started up to gather anything and everything about Fiji into one convenient place.
So sit down, take your taki of grog, and relax. There's no rush. It's all Fiji Time here.

Previously went to Sofitel Denarau (adult beach club side) with my partner and his family (parents, sister, aunt and cousin) 2 years ago and cost AU$2,275 pp for 6 nights.
We’re going back for my MIL’s 60th in September next year but the price for the same thing is now AU$3,450 pp for 6 nights.
Now we’re considering maybe going elsewhere so looking for suggestions for something comparable to the Sheraton with the following:
We’ve tried looking but getting a bit overwhelmed so any suggestions are appreciated!
(Edit: Sofitel, not Sheraton)
it is very sad
Tokatoka Resort vs Fiji Gateway Resort near Nadi Airport - Advice for Short Family Layover?
Need quick advice for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) during a 20-hour layover in Nadi. We arrive at noon and leave at 8 am the next day. Trying to decide between Tokatoka Resort and Fiji Gateway Resort, both close to the airport.
Looking for input on:
Airport transfer convenience
Kid-friendly amenities (pool, activities)
Room comfort and cleanliness
Dining options or nearby food
Hoping for a relaxing stopover with easy access to the airport. Thanks!
Is Kokoda always on the menu without fail at these places or only when available?
Is it possible/legal to import vape or e-liquids from outside? Or will they be confiscated?
Where can I find the best Vakalolo and Purini?
I am planning a two day trip in Fiji on route to move to NZ permanently what are some places to visit arriving on a Sunday noon and departing Tuesday morning around Feb slightly under 48 hours is it enough to explore Suva or is it better to stay in Nadi. Any tips?
Hi all
Me and my girlfriend are going to Fiji mid January and arriving in Nadi at 8:30 am. We want to go to the Yasawa Islands. We cannot catch the first ferry of the day so we’ll properly use a day in Nadi. However, we are considering doing 2 days at Barefoot and then 3 days at another resort before going back to Nadi.
What do you think? We are a bit worried we might “waste” a lot of time transitioning between resorts with the ferries?
Thanks a lot for you help! Cheers
Hello, I'm a 21 year old and a black male from the USA who wants to do a masters or study abroad program abroad. As you will see on my page I have and will post in multiple subreddits from different countries. I have never been out of the country but I am a respectful person and will respect all people in any country I visit. I just need to know how this country or region subreddit i post this in feels about black people. specifically dark skin people. I also wanna know what will affect my studying such as racist professors. What is the grading system scale like? in america we a have 4.0 scale. what are the food prices like? how is the nightclub seen? what are the best tourist spots? what are the best places to meet expats from america or other countries? what is the funniest place you ever been too? i’m going to get a lot of hate for this but I am also interested in dating/hookup culture as any 21 year male would be. No, I'm not focusing on dating/hookup culture more than my studies.I take my studies really seriously. i also am a realist and there is no way i’m going to be locked i’m room all grad with no connect with other people. dating/hooking up will happen at some point. Short and simple context for that is i am a cute decently attractive guy. I'm not cocky. I think i’m cute, not ryan gosling level or beyoncé level 6 '2 average body about 190 pounds & i only speak english No i’m not trolling i’m tired of ppl commenting that on my post
and saying i’m a passport bro( it’s a american term for ppl who go to countries were the usd converts extremely well making them richer than most). First, what passport bros do you know that go to grad school? they exploit the usd to get with women i’m not with that shit it’s weird. I haven’t dated outside my race yet. What should I expect? Is hookup/dating culture like the usa? How are the grad programs in this country? Thanks for the feedback in advance
Hey everyone,
I'll be travelling solo to Fiji (landing in Nadi) in December for 4 days and hoping to stay on one of the smaller islands in either Yasawa or Mamanuca Islands. I am hoping for accommodations that are similar to 4*. A few of the resorts I'm seeing seem to be adult only.. I am wondering if this will mean it's mostly couples on their honeymoon. Does anyone have recommendations for hotels, resorts or guest houses that would be good for a solo traveler but also provide a comfortable stay? If anyone has recommendations for checking out a different area of fiji instead, I'm also open to that as well. Thank you!!
Woilei it's like November came and they on the switch for Summer same time.
Feel sorry for the kids growing up in this climate change
I used to live and Pac harbour when I was a boy and have been visting frequently. Just curious what is typical cost of hiring one of the long boats out of navua and travel up to the 55m waterall for the day. We talked to a captain last week and he wanted 400$. Thats the highest price ive ever heard.... I remember only paying 100$ a few years ago for a few hour trip... I'd imagine the going rate to been in the realm of 100-250$
Heading to Fiji in the next few days just curious on the price on 20s cheers
Has anyone stayed at either the Oarsman's Bay Lodge or Waya Island Resort, and have advice or reviews? Thank you!
Bula. I'm from the US currently visiting Fiji. I've thought about applying for the resident permit for guaranteed income, but I'm wondering about a few things. I have the paperwork filled out.
Is the immigration bond really $100000 Fiji dollars? I hear different things from different people. I didn't hear about that until I got here.
What happens if I get approved but don't come up with the bond? Does the approval just get removed?
Also, will the application get denied if there's anything on the criminal report? I have a friend here from France who is also trying to apply for his permit, and he has a small thing on his from 25 years ago that he thought was removed.
Are there a lot of people here who don't bother with the resident permit and who just leave every few months? Has immigrations at the airport ever given someone a hard time trying to enter? I have a friend who is just renting here and has been doing this for twelve years. I'm trying to get a more broader experience.
Thanks.
Bula, recently returned to Fiji only to be surrounded by remixes of famous or common songs with the same beat and tempo to every song. Most public transport and some shops had exactly the same thing playing ☠️🎼☠️
Hey everyone! I’m visiting for a wee holiday soon. I’m just curious what the nightlife, or dj/bass music seen is like over there! Are there common places for tourists, local gems or anything of the sort?
Thank you!
I was having a conversation with a Fijian friend (itaukei) who is living overseas and asked about their experience when in Fiji and they confirmed my thoughts on how overseas Fijians stand out.
My friend was also abit shocked when Fijians started speaking English to her even though she speaks Fijian, and she even tried exaggerating her Fijian accent and mannerisms to give that vibe of being Fijian, but still it wouldn’t make much difference in how they talked to her.
Is it perhaps the mannerism or the dressing style that make overseas Fijians standout? I understand there are different experiences but would like to hear them all.
