In the beginning of May I started taking more analog notes. I’ve had notebooks here and there but never “completed” one. I also take a lot of digital notes in Obsidian. Then I started carrying one of the Kurzgesagt Pocket Logs with me at all times and it’s awesome. Almost completed my first one and it’s all nice and weathered. I have two more of them and then six Field Notes waiting for me. This is very exciting 🙂

I really like the quality of the Fifty. That one held up really well. I like the gray of the Loot Crate exclusive though. I just looked it up and didn’t realize Loot Crate is still a thing.

My current in and out

I have long grappled with how to carry my FN. They are with me all day every day. I tried a travellers passport which I love but too bulky. I tried a wallet from The Lost Dutchman - again love the leather and the protection but it ends up being to stiff and bulky in my pocket.

I carry two - one is a scratchpad for things that usually end up somewhere else (commonplace, journal, restaurant journal), the other is a long list of things I need to do that gets distilled into a "Critical 8" every Monday morning and then revised as things get crossed off.

I've ended up where I started - old school - two FN held back to back with a rubber band and naked in the back pocket. It seems the best way. Light, Thin. Handy. And I've always loved how they get beaten up.

Obviously I am dealing with and posting about the big issues LOL. How do others carry theirs?

Got my semi annual purchase in. Should last a good while.

Saw a link to the Third Man UK store and they had the Field Notes on sale for £9. Also saw they had one last cassette of Sleep - “Dopesmoker” in stock so I had to.

I used to have a paper journal for the longest time but switched to digital about 10 years ago. It worked for me, but it wasn’t the same.

Now I’ve run across Field Notes, and I am hooked. It has focused me on what is or should be top of mind—and also keeps me away from screens, which I already do enough of for work.

I’ve also become a little addicted to these beauties, buying way too many than I need for the moment. (I definitely should not have gone to EBay last night.)

Currently, I just use keep it in the back of my current notebook I'm carrying and mark off the days to keep track of the date. I like to stay away from screens as much as possible when I write, so having the date available at a quick glance is helpful for me.
My question for all of you is, do you guys use the calendar insert for anything? Would love to see how others use it.
