Feng Shui, in literal sense "Wind and Water", is a form of Chinese geomancy with the goal of harmonizing our environment in accordance with the geographical landscape to give us the advantage in life. Please read the sticky posts for a better understanding of the subject in general.
A place dedicated to the art and science behind this ancient Chinese system of aesthetics believed to use the laws of both Heaven (astronomy) and Earth (geography) to help one improve life by receiving positive qi.

As the title says, I've just moved houses and am trying to work out where to position my bed, side table and study desk.
The door is in the left hand corner (facing front) and opposite is my wardrobe (one of those slide open double door ones). There is a large window the wall opposite the door.
It is important for me to consider outlets as my study desk (laptop, lamp, phone) and side table (lamp) need easy access.
Any advice would be great :)
I thought the title was funny.
I am however looking for advice on bedroom planning! We secured on a house and don't have any furniture, so we're looking for ideas on how to place furniture for the bedroom.
Usual UK Master Bedroom being 10'2 W x 9'10 H, and we're getting a UK standard size bed.
The little black bedside tables are Ikea Malms (we have them in our rented place and was good to show perspective. They're like 40x55cm)
Are we just stuck on not having much creativity in this bedroom because of the size? I don't think I can place a large Kallax shelf because the en suite door would just hit in to it - there's not much space.
6 Iron disks I placed in the salt cure started corroding after I made it 5 days ago. Does this mean it's working? Thanks for the answers!
I previously posted about offering free Feng Shui consultations and selected a friend's question to answer. I hope it will be helpful to everyone. Due to the Chinese New Year, I was quite busy, so I’m posting the answer today. I appreciate your understanding. Additionally, since only one question can be chosen for free consultation each week, if you're in a hurry, feel free to contact me.
Here is my answer.
Firstly, regarding your house, the living space is not suitable for storing ashes. It is recommended to properly bury your pet dog's ashes to harmonize the energy in the space.
From the bedroom photo you provided, the overall feeling seems rather oppressive. I'm not sure if your bed is near a window? If so, I suggest adjusting the bed’s position, placing the head of the bed against the wall near the door.
Additionally, the dried flowers in the room should be removed. Withered flowers have lost their vitality, and once they are dried, they no longer carry good energy. Move them out.
As for the sleep issues you mentioned, they may be related to the layout of the bedroom. The energy in the room is poor, and without good energy, this may lead to shallow sleep, vivid dreams, and even frequent waking at night. You may consider using our talisman, which can suppress negative energy in the house.
Based on the bedroom photo you took, here are a few suggestions: Move the head of the bed to the wall. Bury your pet dog's ashes outside in the yard. Do not keep dried flowers in the house. Old clothes and miscellaneous items should not be piled up in the room at the end of the corridor.
Hi! I need help in decorating our living space. I'm thinking of adding wall pvc cladding in the tv area. With that, I'm kind of hesitant what to put in front of the dining table. I'm thinking of hanging a mirror, however, it may also reflect the side steps of our stairs. Is that okay?
I feel like my current space is not great to motivate me to work or to do art.
Moved into a new place and need help deciding on the layout of the living room. The main issue is that there's a lot of nooks and crannies and doors limiting the options. I need to fit a dining table, couch, and tv. Some storage is optional. The white bit in the middle is a fireplace.Thank you!
I'm going to be moving here in a couple months and I'm trying to think of bed/desk placement ahead of time. I'm also going to be getting an extra slightly longer desk and a display cabinet (billy bookcase). The top room has that pillar in the middle and neither room has windows I think
I don't know which of the two bedrooms I'm going to be getting right now (random placement is fun), so suggestions for both would be appreciated. Thanks for the help!
Need help! Want to transform my work/relax room. Now there are two desks - one for gaming and one for work. Want to transition to one desk situation (but keep space for at least two monitors) - desk could be corner one or not. Also want to put a small sofa so I can watch shows on one of the monitors from there. Have any advice?
Any thoughts on the optimal layout for our living room to include a dining area? We would like a 4 person dining table as well as a a 3 seater sofa and armchair. There is a fire place centered on the left hand wall, a window to the south, a door to the kitchen to the north and a door to the hallway to the east. Any help greatly appreciated!
Like maybe suggest what to fill the empty spaces too? It’s a pretty wide room.
Hi I have some questions on how to arrange my room (Kua Number 8). If my auspicious directions are NW (Health), NE (Growth), SW (Wealth) and West (Love), would I place my bed in the corner of one of these auspicious directions like NW? Or is it more about where I’m facing rather than where I am in the room? If I want to face my auspicious direction, would I place my bed so my feet are pointing to the auspicious direction or would it be so the top of my head is facing the auspicious direction? I hope that makes sense because I’m really confused. Just some notes to take, my wardrobe takes us the entire East side of my room, and I have a window taking up most of the West side of my room. I don’t see how I would be able to place my bed without having either my feet or head facing one of my inauspicious directions. If anyone has an idea of what I can do please let me know! My kua number is 8. The notes are just what chatgpt summarised for me based on what I found online.
In DeepSeek's DeepThink (R1) mode, simply input: "I want to calculate my BaZi, my date of birth is ..yyyy/mm/dd hh:mm.. (including time, an approximate time is fine), place of birth (for time zone calculation), and gender." That's it.
If you're not comfortable using it on DeepSeek, you can also use R1 mode on Perplexity. Remember to additionally select "writing" (disable internet search).
I've tried it myself, and it's really interesting. You'll get a sense of the logic within the <think> response.
Know I should move the desk, but unsure if I should put it against the top or bottom wall?
Hoping to eventually move the wardrobe/closet when we get one built in our bedroom.
Currently have 2 x ladder shelves on the bottom wall next to the desk that hold 2 x synthesizers, my cameras and books.
The kallax has my record player and vinyl collection. The empty space on the top wall currently has 5 x guitars.
Ideally I'd like to have space for my bambulab a1 3d printer as well.
Is the bed in the diagram correct, or is there a better positioning option?
My futon is in the mail as we speak my room used to be cluttered and disgusting it feels good in here now
Moving into new apt soon and looking for help with bedroom layout. The bed is king size, and my partner and I aren't really willing to downsize our bed because of how much better our sleep got after upgrading from a queen to a king. In the diagram, I've put my desk and a set of 2 drawers which my partner and I use for storing clothes. The bottom of the diagram is a closet. I could be convinced to put my desk in our dining room / living room instead if it would be better, but it would be nice to have it in the bedroom so that I have a door to close if I'm working from home and my partner is home for some reason. We could also move the dressers into the dining / living room if necessary. Curious to see what others think.
If we put the bed against the back wall (which is shorter), there would only be 8 inches on each side to walk.
Diagram shows both dressers and the desk in the room, obviously I know having everything in there probably isn't possible, but wanted to give an idea of their sizes.
Thanks in advance!
I’m trying to rearrange my living space as I would like something new but I’m having various difficulties figuring this out. Could I get some suggestions?
Much appreciated :)
I’m looking to increase the creative energies in my workspace which is also my bedroom. What can I do to achieve this? Im also open to ideas for around the rest of the house too, but my workspace/ desk is in my bedroom and where I will mainly be doing my creative work for now.
