Jedi Grandmaster
Pretty happy to be able to play this game now! I'm not very far in the game, but I thought this moment was amusing enough to share.
So many unexpected things happened in such short time, that I couldn’t help to share. Didn’t know that throwing the ST would knock the other one off the platform. Didn’t even notice until I watched the replay. Then I somehow threw the bomb before it exploded — and it blew the last ST toward me. lol. Just bananas all around.
after previously buying Fallen Order in 2019, I finally raised some money to jump to next gen and buy this badass sequel
I understand the graphics are a lot better, but the graphics that will run well in fallen order look miles better than those that run well in jedi survivor. It doesn't make sense it being the same performance for much lower quality, on a newer and probably more optimised game.
Recently been pulled back into Respawnverse after completing this game a while back and have been thinking they have a lot of narrative potential for 3.
What would really be cool is if they went the Dishonored route. Cal and the player would feel a number of incremental effects, gameplay and story-wise, if the player starts and continues to use the Dark Side powers he tapped into in Survivor, maybe theyre in the skill tree etc. Cal might start pushing Merrin away... stuff like that.
There's a few obstacles with that idea tho, for one, they'd have to deepen the dark side and make it as compelling so that people actually experience the branching paths, there also cant be, or there should be something more creative than a visible 'darkside-o-meter' -- i hate when games all at the same time, ruin suspense, deimmerse you, and give players the chance to meta game the system ala ME3. Also, obviously theyd have to make the game structurally somewhat rely on this idea so that it doesnt feel like a gimmick. For the other, I think since the first game, everyone has been expecting we'd have to fight Vader and die because they're hamstrung by the universe, but at the same time we've done that as Cere so I'm not entirely sure that's where they're leading. The writing team would have to think up multiple endings that are satisfying and narratively sound. Maybe in the "light side ending" Cal dies but Merrin lives as well as some other differences to the universe. The darker you go maybe Cal gets the anakin treatment with Merrin, but depending on how dark side you are you die or live and start to become like Bode and Dagan
Drop any ideas below and lmk what you think. Maybe someone from Respawn sees this or we will be like that YouTuber who correctly predicted GoW Ragnarok's >! twist!< a year before it released lmao
Fucking horrible. What were they thinking? Periodically, she just turns herself invincible for like half a minute. Great fucking fun.
Light saber colors should have not been red? I can understand Dagan Gera's, but not Bodes's. He didn't really fall to the dark side, just acting out of desperation.
There is only one secret there and I unlocked it other than that I have no idea how to unlock the last 5% I want to platinum the game but I can’t figure this one thing out and I’m going insane.
Hi all, getting a glitch or bug on the PS4 version where components of the lightsaber and blaster change material or, in the case of things like scope components on the blaster, disappear entirely.
It’s not something that affects gameplay at all, but as someone who is fastidious with appearances on things (shout out to /r/FallenOrderFashion) like this it’s jarring and a chunk in the armour of an otherwise excellent experience.
Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way around it? Or is it just a matter of spending time tweaking and customising at every possible opportunity to make sure it’s right?
Mine is Garra
I know it's there for customization but from a canon standpoint, can cal actually change his blade color whenever he wants???
I love having different stances in the game but always in cutscenes cal just used 1 lightsaber and it seems like he always uses 1 I wish we got to have cal use his dual wield or cross guard stance in cutscenes
Introduction
In a previous post, I described why I loved the combat flow of the Blaster Stance. One of my smaller points was regarding the charge shots: Charge, Ricochet and Stun. In short, these three are interchangeable upgrades which can be equipped on the Blaster Stance to change the way you play. Want to easily deal lots of damage? Charge. Want to take out a group of weaker enemies? Ricochet. Want to get in a few easy hits on a big group? Stun.
However, after posting, something hit me: what if they did the same with the other stances? What if there was a system similar to Perks where upgrades could be added to certain stances, enhancing gameplay?
Enter my newest idea: interchangeable forms.
I have seen many comments on other posts wondering about how the canonical lightsaber forms could be added in the last Jedi game. This, I believe, is one way of doing it. Then again, there are many issues with the system I will touch on later.
I will discuss the basics of the system, the different forms, how they are unlocked, their places in the story, my criticisms of my own ideas and other ideas that may be implemented. These points will be made in a series of posts, this time starting with Forms I through IV. Let us get started.
Lightsaber Forms
The concept is simple enough to understand. Each of the stances - Single, Dual Wield, Crossguard and others - are able to have different forms attached to them, but only one at a time, like the charged Blaster Stance attacks. These forms are based off of those found already in the Star Wars mythos - Form I (Shii-Cho), for instance.
These different forms change the strengths of the stance in various ways based on the advantages of said form. For example, Form II (Makashi) is particularly useful in the lore in one-on-one combat with lightsaber-wielding foes. Accordingly, in the game, Form II will have attacks and skills focused on defeating lightsaber enemies in single combat.
These strengths can impact the different stances in varying ways. In the case of Soresu (Form III), a defensive form focused on deflecting blaster fire, it would simply improve the defensive capabilities of the Double-Bladed Stance. However, Dual Wield would be impacted differently; instead of providing maximum offence with fast and powerful strikes with limited defence capabilities, it would instead lessen in the former areas while improving in the latter.
Additionally, the forms offer different class-based abilities. Form VII makes the player able to stagger enemies with heavier attacks, even if the stamina bar has not dropped yet. This is simply to increase the difference between forms and make it more enjoyable to incorporate varying playstyles.
Without further ado, let us start on the specific forms themselves and how they may impact the different stances in the game.
Form I - Shii-Cho
Form I, in the Star Wars canon, is the most simplistic of the forms. A balanced style, it is primarily utilised to maim and kill an opponent, with particular focus on disarming them.
As a result, thus is the form ability: when an enemy is at low health and its stamina has dropped, Cal can disarm it of its weapon. For example, a basic Scout Trooper would lose his baton, and an ordinary Stormtrooper would lose his blaster.
Shii-Cho offers small increases to various stats, such as speed and power, than the "average", but lacks in range and is slightly inferior in speed.
Form II - Makashi
The second form, Makashi, is the duelling form, used in lightsaber-on-lightsaber combat. It is an elegant fighting style similar to fencing in our world. Because of these traits, Makashi is useful against one foe, but lacks against many.
The form ability of Form II is the ability to bypass the stamina meter if an enemy leaves its stance open. Normally, the player would attack the stamina bar, or attack during cooldown times, but Makashi allows certain lunging strikes to circumnavigate weaker stances.
However, there are two key downsides to Form II. Firstly, it underperforms against groups of enemies, as the deadly lunges leave Cal open to strikes from surrounding foes. Furthermore, it is not well-suited to deflecting blaster fire, and takes considerably more stamina damage from range attacks.
Makashi offers small increases to damage and melee defence, but lacks in blaster protection and crowd control.
Form III - Soresu
Form III is, first and foremost, a defensive stance, primarily utilised to deflect blaster fire. However, it has very limited offensive capabilites - perhaps the least out of all the forms - but makes up for it with incredible defence.
Soresu improves all defensive capabilites of all stances: an additional stamina bar is added; all stances have the Double-Bladed Stance's ability to send back multiple blaster bolts in succession; and the Double-Bladed Stance itself has the Crossguard Stance's Charged Reflection. However, the latter skill has a small chance of occurring, at around ten percent of deflections.
The greatest drawback of Form III is its offensive capabilities. All non-defensive stats drop, but it is countered by the amazing protection.
Form IV - Ataru
Ataru is a very acrobatic and aggressive form which makes full use of the Force in its traversal capabilities.
Form IV is an essential boost in speed and reaction. Even when not in the Dual Wield Stance, Cal can pull out of attacks by pressing Block. Evades make Cal move further away from the fighting zone. He moves faster, both in movement speed and lightsaber combat.
However, there are two major disadvantages: defence and Force. Attacks that use Force deplete the meter quicker, and its defensive capabilities are reduced.
It took around 35hours and shit ton of going here and there but in the end it was worth it. I know I'm a few years late but it's better than never.
How long did it take for you to do 100%?
