Hey everyone, my Name is Phil, 36y, IT and Tech background, im from Germany and want to get started in fpv flying.
In the passt i got some cheapo copter, a Phantom 2, Chearson cx20 and a selfbuild f450 based ON cx20 parts and matek h743 and taranis x9 lite.
So im searching for the best bang for the buck in fpv.
Would Like to Go in the whoop area and below 250g cause of Federal laws in Germany.
Fpv system i would Like to Go walksnail and Moonlight, reviews in yt were good.
I want to learn flying, possibility to use IT indoors would bei great.
Mounting Option for actioncam will be great. Question: Is this generaly needed or ist the quality from the digital fpv system good enough?
Please let give ne some Tipps what to choose.
Best regards Phil
Hi everyone, wondering if anyone could help with an FPV camera setup not going into a drone but instead to mount to eyeglasses/headlight.
It would be an ideal setup to be able to record surgeries to a microSD and wirelessly livestream to a computer display 3-5 metres away in the same room.
There are some commerical surgical/dental loupe-mounted cameras but they cost $6000 USD+ (Loupecam, Admetec Flamingo, Dr Kim’s Headlight DCAM).
The best setup would:
I was looking on Aliexpress at the Walksnail Moonlight Kit as I think its 4k resolution should be able to capture the surgical detail ok. What I am struggling with is:
1a. It could be mounted to a headlamp as pictured (This is actually the commerical Dr Kim DCAM-5 USD $3000) but then the two antennae would dangle from the box at the top of my head.

Tl;dr, I think a digital FPV camera like the Walksnail moonlight could be a viable option for recording surgery.
If I just bought the kit, I don’t know
Thanks for your time and expertise. I have to say reading about these FPVs has been fascinating, looks like a marvellous hobby.
I have an Atomrc dolphin, a while ago I broke the motor mount so I printed a new one from PLA. 2 mins into my first flight the motor mount melted. I have ABS on the way. Are there other good materials? Or maybe a way for the motor to not get so hot? It’s a 2306 1950kv motor, 4s battery, and 7040 gemfan bi blade
Now my tango 2 is no longer binded and the crossfire reciever has no lights on it anymore

I recently got my first FPV setup, got everything working and tuned, but i am having trouble with my OSD. It is working and showing most of my elements, but any relating to the VTX, such as latency and bitrate, will not show up. It being isolated to only the VTX elements makes me wonder if it has to do with the tx and rx wires to the FC, but if i use Walksnail’s native OSD these elements are working normally, and isn’t this data sent directly to the goggles through the VTX anyway? I thought maybe it has something to do with the font so I downloaded a custom font to the goggles’ SD card, but the custom fonts setting stayed grayed out. I’m getting tired of messing with it, any ideas?
Right now I have the DJI Integra and the controller 2. I was wondering what the cheapest combo was that I could get for camera and antenna and flight controller that would work with my DJI products when building a new fpv drone. Do I need a DJI air unit? It's over $150!? Is there other cheaper option/3rd party, or should I just go full analog/new goggles and controller? Thanks!
Hi all, I need some help.
I recently bought a Meteor85 (2022 version with ELRS v2), only to realize that ELRS had versions which matter.
https://www.fpvfaster.com.au/products/betafpv-meteor85-brushless-2s-tinywhoop-fpv-quadcopter-2022-bnf-frsky-elrs - F4 1-2S 12A FC (SPI ELRS 2.4G)
I have a radiomaster boxer which has ELRS v3, from what i've read I can't revert this back to ELRS v2, (is this true?)
This process is a bit confusing for a FPV/Drone noob, from what i've read it might not even be possible to update my drones ELRS version to 3, or at least it didnt exist when reading historical posts about it here on reddit. Is it possible?
I've tried updating the firmware via betaflight, thinking that may fix the problem, but that seems to be having issues too, when I attempt to flash the software it gets stuck at "initiating reboot to bootloader...". Not even sure if this is the solution to my problem though.
What steps do I need to take to fix this? I've been looking on reddit for a few hours without any luck.
Thanks
Update:
"SPI ELRS 3.0 binding works (on BETAFPVF4SX1280)"
https://github.com/betaflight/betaflight/issues/12033
Looks like version firmware 4.4 may use elrs 3, current version is 4.3. this should update it to ELRS v3, which would work with my remote. Only thing I need to fix now is the bugged firmware flash.
update 2:
used impulse driver fixer from: https://impulserc.com/pages/downloads
managed to update firmware to v 4.5.1,
set ELRS passcode on my drone via betaflight & my boxer remote, via elrs wifi setup, to the same word,
still nothing.
not sure where to go from here!
So I finally got my new Pocket Crush and was setting everything up and got to wondering if it was possible to keep two TX configurations in BF. One for the existing Jumper T Pro (will be the backup) and another for the Pocket. I had some rate profiles on a switch but just got to thinking if there was something similar for TXs instead of reassigning aux switchs everytime. Especially if out flying.
Did my first shot at soldering fry my ESC? Continuity test gets no beeps from power leads, but beeps on all motor wires. Oscarliang suggested the spinning test, but I can’t tell if this is “normal” or not.
Appreciate the help!
opinions?
Telemetry is showing on my Jumper t15 just fine but not in my goggles. I have also had no issues with the connection dropping but it would be nice to see it.
I have tried updating the firmware on my goggles and O3 unit
Resetting the OSD
The telemetry button in BetaFlight is turned on
**Edit - Fixed problem - RSSI_ADC was turned on for some reason**
If you're affiliated or sponsored by an FPV brand, what do you get in return for sponsorship or affiliation?
Do you get free products? Does that brand give monetary value for the sponsor? Or something else?
Do you think you're not getting fair pay or is it right for what you offer?

just curious if there is some great app though van suggest for practicing on my iPad on the go?
Hello, I spend a good amount of my summers near the local lake, and I'd like something that can both be configured to land on the water as well as carry a FPV camera. Are there any purpose- designed kits you'd recommend, or should I just modify a Turbo Timber to hold a camera?
Funday Sunday
Recently lost my black box SD card in a crash (didn't notice until a few days later). Any tips on how to prevent the SD card from falling out in a crash?
Is the difference the boxer is smaller and has less switches than the tx16s
Hello fpv people.
In the past two months (mostly september, during october I was way too busy) I've been practicing on Liftoff and following Joshua Bardwell's beginner lessons on how to fly an fpv drone, I'm at lesson 15 with about 20 hrs of practice.
I'm thinking about practicing all winter long (hoping that I'll have time) and when spring comes I'd like to get myself a drone or even build one (I'm more keen on this last option even though I don't have much experience in soldering) while staying on a budget.
I have a FlySky FS-i6 that I'm using on the sim and I got it because it was cheap and didn't know if I would like the fpv experience. I'm starting to get less worse as compared to when I started and I'm really liking it.
What I'm asking are the following questions:
Have you got any recommendations on a first build? Basically talking about components.
Should I actually build myself my first fpv drone or should I go with a preassembled one?
Should I upgrade my remote? In the sim I had to adjust the stick threshold since I saw it was constantly moving very fast when it was at 0 and that worried me in the beginning, isn't really influencing my perfomance (Maybe it is but I'm too dumb to notice).
What transmission system would you recommend? Should I start with a classic analog transmitter and visor or should I invest already in a dji air unit and goggles? I know that the latter solution would bring up the overall cost but if it's good for the long run I might think about it.
Should I actually invest first in some goggles and practice with them in the sim this winter?
I know it's a bit early to worry about this stuff since new components may come out in the meanwhile, but hey I'm really excited.
I asked chatGPT a while ago and it gave me a couple of options but I'd like to ask actual people with experience so they'll hopefully give me the best advice. :)
I think those are all my questions. The reason I started flying is because since I was a kid I really liked flying stuff and in my life had a couple of drones (one jamara x flash and a syma x5sw I believe ithey were called), so nothing too fancy. In the past years I've always wanted to start my fpv journey but never had an income to invest with.
The main use of the drone would just to have another skill to add to my videography competences, I tried a couple of races in the sim and even though I liked the adrenaline and feeling it's really not what I would like to focus on, so I'm leaning more towards freestyle/""cinematic"" flying.
Almost forgot, I'm based in Europe (Italy).
Will it fly?
i tried so many time, and I can not do it... I need update firmware with ELRS configuration... and I dont know why I dont see the wifi on my laptop... any sugestion?
