Which game has the best tutorial for newcomers, in your opinion?

I'd personally go with MK11.

What’s a fighting game you wanna get into but everytime you try you just can’t do it

For me it has to be guilty gear and tekken the combos looks so cool in those games and I love the character design (less so in tekken) but whenever I try playing these games it feels like I’m given a quiz in a different language without any hint on how to decode it

Is there a point in using medium special moves (particularly projectiles)?

Been a long time since I played Street Fighter until I discovered a local bar restaurant that has an actual cabinet from the 90s with all the damage that entails its long existence of use. Almost every other fighting game only uses 2 different levels for kicks and punches so I'm pretty used to using specials at other slow or fast speeds with the weak or strong damage that accompanies it. So I had a bit of difficulty adjusting to 6 buttons and not mistaking the medium other for slow/weak and strong/fast. It threw a lot of my special attacks off especially fireballs. But it does make me ask regarding special moves is there any point to using the medium version? I just don't see how at midlevel its advantageous when light and fierce variations gets more things done at the extreme. In particular when shooting projectiles (especially during exchange of range attacks). So for example what use would doing a Flash Kick at M or using Blanka's M Rolling ball attack have over the jab/light kicks and fierce versions? Do people actually use the Medium Hadoken and other character's range equivalent? How would Sagat's Middle Button Tiger shots be effective at all (and same with other range attacks of various characters? Furthermore this question more important than just Street Fighter. Almost all Capcom fighting games use the 6 button layout as seen with Darkstalkers and Marvel VS Capcom so I really am actually taking this question seriously.

I have some questions about these games (one in special) could you give me a little advice?

I bought Skullgirls 2nd Encore some time ago when it was on sale and it is my first "serious" fighting game (I'm saying serious because it's the first fighting game I ever had) And I have some "concerns" about this.

First of all, the community, I always see these tik toks about rage compilations of games and huge combos, and the vast majority come from fighting games and it scares me, like I'm trying to learn this game and then I am on two situations, or I gonna get shouted cuz I'm bad in VC and my moral would get destroyed, or my opponent would suddenly pull out a zero to death combo and brutally humiliate me.

Second of all, I never played with a controller before, but playing with a keyboard is just the biggest torture for my fingers. What can I do? I tried lots and lots of times with the tutorial (and they say Skullgirls has the best tutorial of all fighting games) but I just get stuck with the "combo" section due to the fast pace of the game. And all the motions in a controller's joystick are hard to perform for me :/ (specially the Z motion)

I really want to play and enjoy this type of games cuz I really like the art, lore and characters, but sometimes it's just too much for my clumsy fingers and slow mind. Do you guys have some tips for me? Thanks in advance for all your kind advice :3

Relatively new to fighters

Hey all, I'm relatively new to fighters, and anime fighters would be my main experience so far. I played a bit of Jump Force when it was at its peak (admittedly not very high but I was younger), I played the Demon Slayer fighter and was pretty decent, and tried Guilty Gear Strive and absolutely sucked.

The reason I'm posting is because I've seen major hype surrounding Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, and I have the funds to buy it, I'm just wondering if it would be worth it for someone with relatively little experience with fighters. Any and all help would be appreciated as I don't fancy spending €80 if I'm not going to get my moneys worth from my point of view. Thanks.

Genuine question: How to be entertaining when streaming fighting games with even 1 viewer?

Hey guys so I been hesitating to stream fighting games because idk the value it can provide for the viewer. The cycle of playing fighting games mostly is just doing ranked matches repeat. Sure the story mode and all is great but they come mostly for the online matches but it can get boring and you might just be silent mostly.

I really wanna try since I'm mostly in the MOBA genre and I REALLY wanna get good at fighting games. I have abandoned most games for this genre and I find long term value of enjoyment with it so...any advice? If you do stream pls leave ur twitch handle (if mods allow it)

Thank you. Dr. Curvy

Leverless controller on ps5 question

So i decided to get a haute42 u12 with booter 5 by the end of the month for tekken 8 and sf6, however it doesn't have headphone jack and im plugged in all the time(talking in voice chat with friends). what are my options that don't require drilling a hole in the controller?

Any good/decently balanced/fun games with decent character customization? (OTHER THAN SOUL CALIBER)

I love character creation and I really don't see many fighting games do it, which is probably for the best coz of balance and character recognizability, but I wanna beat up my friends as Karkat Vantas or Jonesy Fortnite or Sans Undertale or something stupid and there's not many good games that have that kinda customizability

What are the different 'technical' characteristics of the top fighting games?

What I mean by this, is what are the mechanical differences between the top fighting games, and why do people prefer some characteristics over others?

For example I have heard of the 'stale' concept - where if you spam a move too often it does less damage - and I was wondering if for example some games employ this more than others.

For the top fighting games, I mean any game played at EVO.

Many thanks

Help me find a compatible keyboard switch for my Haute42 S13

Hey hey y'all I have a Haute42 S13 leverless controller and wanting to upgrade my buttons. I love the Kalih Red V2 low profile (red) but I want something smoother and quiet. RGB pin is optional. I looked for 3-pin low pros and got a cherry mx speed silver but to my realization the pinning is wrong. Can you guys recommend me a replacement for my Kalih low pro V2? Also what lubricant do you recommend?

Why is MK1 so Poorly optimized

Why does mortal kombat have nearly double/triple the storage requirements when compared to other popular fighting games. Street Fighter 6 is Around 78GB and Tekken 8 Is about 96GB so why is MK1 as high as 174GB ?

How does fuzzy blocking work?

I've never really tried fuzzying because I've never really needed to use it in the games I play, but I feel like I'd be a really good skill to test if I come across someone and don't know how to react to their high/low. Can I just wiggle my stick back and down back randomly, or do I need to do it in a certain pattern?

FGC in Sussex, UK?

Like the title says, I'm looking for an FGC in Sussex. Currently live in Brighton and the Facebook checks are coming up empty. I mainly play 3rd Strike, UMVC3 and Soul Calibur. Trying to learn SF6.

Could we get a new CVS or MVC?

Terry and Mai are in sf6 now. Ken and Chun going to the new city of the wolves. Cap and snk are in bed together again. I'd love a new CVS. Mvc collection is hitting so there is a market there, I know licensing is hell on stuff like that tho. I'd shit a brick for a new mvc. A good mvc anyway

Series x Controller or Horipad Pro?

In short. I was thinking of buying a Horipad Pro Xbox, since my current controller is quite old and starting to fail. Unfortunately, the stock ran out in the gaming store, but now they have the Xbox Series X controller available, although it's more expensive. Which controller is better? If the Series X is better, I have no problem spending more money, but I also have no problem waiting for them to have the Horipad again if it turns out to be a better option.

Disclaimer: I play on PC.

3D anime fighter tournaments?

For some reason 3D anime fighters click in my brain in a way other games don't. Maybe it's just because they tend to be a lot more casual than other genres, but I'd love to get my ass beat finding out how bad I really am.

The problem is they don't tend to stick around, or even really get a tournament scene to begin with. Or at least none I'm aware of. I'm hoping there's some hidden gem of a community out there, or something I've overlooked and would love any leads I can get to get my ass kicked in a game like ninja storm

Would You Use a Forum to Discuss and Compete in Fighting Games Like SF6, Tekken 8, and More?

Hey FGC,

I’m working on a new project for the fighting game community—a forum-based platform where players can discuss their favorite games, track leaderboards, and even wager virtual currency in PvP matches. Right now, we’re planning to have dedicated forums for:

•	Street Fighter 6
•	Tekken 8
•	Smash Ultimate
•	Mortal Kombat 1
•	Soul Calibur 6
•	Multiversus
•	Guilty Gear Strive
•	King of Fighters 15
•	Brawlhalla
•	Dragon Ball FighterZ

However, we’d love to hear from the community—are there any other games you think should have their own forum? Let me know what you’d want to see!

If you have any questions about the project, feel free to message me directly.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

What would you all like to see…

Felt weird typing the full message up there so gonna continue here 🐳

I figure there might not be too much juice in this question but humor me please!

What would you all like to see from a beginner fighting game content creator?

Looking to start my own YouTube channel and wanted to get a sense for what you all would like to see. ☺️

Need some advice about gear for running events

I am looking to start running modern fighting game (Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Guilty gear strive) events for locals in the next couple months. I've definitely been around a lot of events, both retro and modern games, and it seems like the most effective way to do it is to create multiple setups consisting of a satisfactory display, speakers if the display has none integrated, all the wiring and power cords that come with it, and of course the system to run whatever game, bring your own controller/stick/hitbox as long as it follows guidelines (and have 2 or so controllers and sticks in house in the event someone needs to borrow). Where I'm stuck on is if I should go console, most likely PS5, or PC for the setups. I've seen events do either. I think either would work, but maybe PC would be a better investment in the long run? My main question is to where I should specifically look for pre-builts or parts/bundles. Money is definitely a factor, so I'd love to hear some deals that anybody knows of. I am trying to get 4 setups to start. I appreciate the help

Keyboard/Controller Recommendatioms

Hello!! My boyfriend plays a lot of fighting games (mainly dbfz and sf6) and has been using a keyboard I got him a few years ago. From what I remember I think it’s a Razer Blackwidow V3 with the green switches. I got this keyboard for him as a Christmas gift because it was really clicky and I thought the clear actuation point would be useful for confirming inputs. Recently, I think the keyboard has been worn down or doesn’t suit the way he plays, he’s been upset that it’s been dropping inputs or the keys stick resulting in a button being input too many times. He plays at a pretty competitive level and plays in tournaments sometimes, so I understand these little input issues can mean the difference between a win and a loss sometimes. His birthday is coming up in October and I just got a new job that pays well, so I want to get him something new and improved. I don’t know that much about arcade sticks or fight sticks, but I’m not 100% sure he’d like it. He’s been playing on a keyboard for years and years and I think his muscle memory is built up. Please let me know your thoughts and expertise! My only requirements are: if it’s a keyboard it must be 100% with a num pad, must be tournament legal, price really isn’t an issue.
