Holy fuck. Are there worse segments out there or is it this one?
On the vlan tonight, the news mainland is on the market
Based on a recent comment about the banned headphones Joe stunt from February 26, 2010, I realized I never heard about that and went to go listen to it. That got me thinking, what are all the incidents where the show got into trouble? It’s be cool to compile a list. Also, if there’s audio or people know the day that it happened that would be even better as maybe we could track down the audio and re-listen to it.
It’s everyone’s favorite weekly thread! What were some can’t miss moments from the past week of Free Beer and Hot Wings? What were the moments you think were so funny that you absolutely had to stay listening to hear how they were resolved?
It came to my attention that some people are behind on the podcast. That’s okay! I think we can include the past couple of weeks in these threads, too.
Let’s keep the positivity coming and share our favorite moments!
Idk why but she's said a few things on air that make me think there's been a recent change in her life. Wasn't sure if I missed anything she's publicly said but also not wanting to dig.
Someone really wrote Harry Bush on pop corn chicken and put their department as lawn & garden.
This bit from last week was an ad or some sort of paid promotion. Free Beer regularly does twitter ads for Xfinity, the owner of Peacock. This was set up to be about "what do you know about your grandparents?" by Free Beer. From there, Kelly took over talking about The Thief Collector. At the end Steve tried to pretend it was something they'd take calls on, and then they pivoted for the next segment.
I don't begrudge anyone getting paid but this is definitely one of those things that feels very Bob and Tom. I find the irony even more amusing considering they've made fun of local tv news stations doing promotional stories to get paid. All the comments during the segment are geared towards enhancing the trailer so the listener will be more curious.
I hope they find a way to make it feel organic and less shoehorned in there when they do these in the future.

I'm a few weeks behind on the show, but I heard a best of this morning in my car. Was there no show today?
Ben covered the segment where the show tried to make ordinary reads sound sexy on Who Are These Freebeers tonight and it was brilliant. Kelly’s Krispie Rs, Freebeers super laughs and more were covered.
Just started watching the VLAN from October last night, and was surprised to see them do political ads! They weren't as good as the attack ads they used to do, but it was still pretty good!
There are a lot of people on this subreddit who are annoyed with the negativity surrounding the show, so I came up with an idea: make a thread every week so everyone can discuss all of the hilarious things that happen on the show!
Feel free to comment what your favorite segments were! What were the topics that made you Free Beer laugh? What moments kept you in the car because you absolutely had to hear what happened next?
The girls didn't need to attack the idiots that participated the way they did. They weren't inappropriate and were trying to participate. Like they were invited to do.
They can't think of one? How about 2? Zane and Joe?
Many of us think the show has lost its way, and even some who still love the show agree that it's not what it once was. But they really scraped the bottom of the barrel of creativity yesterday with "Who can read it sexier?" They were going around the room with each show member reading the assembly instructions for a bed in a sexy voice. Two minutes in it became apparent that this unfunny bit was going nowhere, so I assumed they would drop it at some point. But no, they did not. They pressed on for the entire first segment. I can't think of anything they've done that was a bigger waste of a whole show segment. Can you?
Who says this show lost their fastball? They still have the edgiest trivia and games. They still fill in the lulls between trivia segments with Reddit posts and relationship advice. They haven’t changed, you have!
Oatmeal cookies are the number one non-cereal usage for oatmeal followed by this dish. Honestly, the first thing I thought of after she asked that question was meatloaf, but upon further reflection, I argue that peanut butter no-bake cookies are the next in line for number one non-cereal usage for oatmeal. Unless you include peanut butter no-bake cookies in with oatmeal cookies, but I argue that they are not the same and there are other things you can use as a binder in meatloaf, but you can't make those cookies without oatmeal. It would have been more accurate if she said simply that cookies are the number one, non cereal usage for oatmeal, followed by meatloaf.
Listening to a show from September, freebeer talked about a guy he was paying to give him a professional critique. Has he talked about how it went since then?
Anyone know the lights Steve (and hotwings) said they had? LED porch lights with an app... My partner is wanting something exactly like that and going back through the podcast for the brand/name being mentioned is proving tedious at best... Thanks in advance!!
I have been listening to them since I was a junior in high school and I listen to the podcast to and from work. Been like 20 years now. Thinking of taking the plunge and going to the Nashville live at night. It's been some time coming!
Side note lmao: I FINALLY downloaded their app. It's a lot better than that garbage caveman app from before! https://imgur.com/nrOS7BK
During yesterday’s segment 17 Kelly was talking about a troll that’s been messing with her. I know Zane has been going after all of them pretty aggressively. Did anyone else think she was referring to Zane? If so it sucks she let this miserable piece of shit get to her. Whoever it is, glad she’s doing better.
