TESS was expected to discover more than 10 thousand exoplanets. As of 13 April 2023, only 329 exoplanets have been confirmed - less than 2% of the expected number. Four years ago I asked why this number is so low. I received replies that scientists need time to analyze and validate the data. What is the current stage of this data analysis?

Im a highschoolstudent and Im on a mission to find an exoplanet for a competition. I want to use the TESS-datacataloge to search for undiscovered exoplanets in it. How can I find an exoplanet in it, I mean which Software do I use to compare the images? Which criteria are important in the process of choosing a star, which I want to look at? How much proofes do I need to have, that there really is an exoplanet and its not a disturbance I see there. I would really like it to hear some tips and help from you all, Ive searched a lot in the Internet, but I didnt find anything really helpfull, feel free to comment and thanks a lot for the help, Ad astra
I’m thinking about fun side projects that could be useful to the community. One idea I have is building some type of experience that simulates the atmosphere of an exoplanet given the data collected.
Would need someone who understand chemistry to be able to build a basic model. Probably an insane things to do but not impossible.
If you work in the field and have a specific software product you’d like to solve DM me :)
