Mother Nature had her way of growing right through the fence from one side to the other. The trunk is about 12” thick and the fence is inside the tree.

I really thought this was an interesting thing to see. I’ve seen this many times before but not to this level. To be clear the Poplar grew around it as it became bigger and taller but it gave off the illusion that it was sudden / magical. It was very satisfying to look at in a way.

free optavia diet stuff

I'm trying to get rid of 4 big boxes full of unopened optavia stuff. It was my father in law's. He's now in the hospital and it is not relevant for him anymore. I think he paid hundreds of $ for it, but we just want it gone as we try and clean up his house. It's on Upper Ridge Rd in Everett, and if anyone is nearby and wants it for free, let me know. Otherwise it's going to the trash. It's all like a couple years old. I tried one of the pastas (you add water and microwave it), and it was OK but I'm a skinny guy and not for me. Looking just now on Reddit, I'm reading lots of bad things about the program, so please do research before trying this. I just felt bad to waste it if there is someone nearby who is paying big $ for the same stuff. Message me for the address if you are interested. I fly out of town tomorrow morning, so it would need to be today, or after a couple weeks when I get back.

Cinnamon Roll Thread

I'm looking for a cinnamon roll fix, now the Sunday market is done until...April? Ideally, it would have a lot of cinnamon, and light on frosting.

Before the Cinnamon Roll Guy at the Everett Farmers Market broke us 4-5 weeks ago, we'd make a trek up to Calico Cupboard in Mt. Vernon. (CRG mentioned he would be at a monthly farmers market in the winter months...Anacortes?)

In the meantime, I am looking for local recommendations.

Dog seeking friend

Hello! My partner and I recently adopted a dog named Hardy from the Everett shelter. He's an amazing one year old lab pittie mix. We'd live in the Lowell neighborhood walking distance to two dog parks. Hardy is non reactive and expresses great interest in other dogs. He would love a friend. We're nervous to just let him loose with other dogs at the park without knowing his history and would love to meet up with someone to make a slow patient acquaintance. Somebody that is understanding if it may or may not go well. Does anyone have a medium size mild energy dog that may want to meet up soon? Thanks for reading!

Any job openings?

Hello everyone! I am looking for a job ---still looking for one (that does not require any degree). I only have 30 days left till I am getting kicked out of my place. Have been applying since February this year. I am just lucky enough to get 1 interview done and never hear from them again.

I am feeling super despreate. Please, if you know anyone or any place that will hire right away. I am available anytime.

I am not picky with jobs and will do any job.

I appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Oak Harbor’s flawed purple street lights to be replaced

I was so disappointed to see this. I was thinking about contacting PUD to try to get the street light in front of my house changed to the new purple lights, only to find out that they aren't supposed to be purple. I think they look awesome!

Funding available for 2025 visitor-focused projects!

The City of Everett’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) is pleased to announce that grant applications are being accepted for tourism development and promotion projects. Public and non-profit agencies are encouraged to submit their applications by Monday, Dec. 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

For 2025, $278,000 is available to fund projects that advance tourism in Everett. Grants will be awarded competitively to applicants who can implement projects by the end of 2025, driving tourism business to the city and increasing lodging tax revenue.

“We’re thrilled to open this new round of LTAC grants, and we look forward to seeing innovative proposals that will bring visitors to Everett,” said City Councilmember and LTAC Chair Paula Rhyne. “This funding helps bring events, festivals, and cultural experiences to our community, showcasing Everett as a dynamic and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike. We’re excited to support projects that make Everett a true destination and boost our local economy.”

The LTAC will meet in late December to review all submitted applications and select recipients. Grant awards will be announced in early January, allowing funded projects to begin planning and execution promptly in the new year.

This grant program is made possible through taxes collected from hotel and motel room stays within the city of Everett.

Detailed eligibility criteria and program requirements are available in the application package at everettwa.gov/ltac

Halloween - How Did Everyone Do?

How many trick or treaters did you get? I was surprised to go through my entire 36 pack of candy bars and probably half of my fruity/chewy candy mix. We probably had 50+ kids, which I'm thankful for considering I've talked to a lot of friends who had less than 10.

Need to get my cats nails trimmed

Anybody know a reliable place I can go to get my fur baby’s nails cut? I don’t really want to go to petco or petsmart as I haven’t heard the greatest things. Hoping there’s a groomer who doesn’t charge too terribly much. She’s a good kitty

Indoor Antenna for Smart TV

So I would love to be able to watch local sports without paying a fortune to Comcast every month.

I know antennas are sold for smart tvs that can pick up local channels for free. I bought an inexpensive product and it was no good.

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with an antenna on their smart tv, or if we're too far away from Seattle. If you have one that works I would love to know which antenna you have.

Rick Steves: "Vote for a safer, more stable world. Vote for our future. Vote no on I-2117!"

Rick Steves travel books are my favorite when I go abroad, and I was surprised when I learned he's from Washington a few years ago. He recently came out publicly against I-2117, which makes sense as a traveler who sees the impacts of climate change around the world.

"This initiative — which was funded by a millionaire hedge fund owner from California with ties to the fossil fuel industry — is deceptively framed as a measure that will cut taxes and help working families. But I-2117 would ultimately cost the people of our state far more than its backers claim it will save.

Economists understand that practical green policies, smartly designed and implemented, can both effectively address environmental concerns and contribute to a strong economy — not only for the next four years but far into a sustainable future."
