Sources from the EU's official websites, publications, etc.
Third-party sources, such as interviews or news reports, that either:
Editorials, opinions, columns, or blogs by people who are not officials of the EU must draw on the elements mentioned above to a significant degree.
No edited titles except the following: (1) you can use a short quote from an item in stead of its title if it is not clear enough, (2) you can also shorten a lengthy title by cutting out unnecessary words, as long as it does not change its meaning, (3) it is okay to reword the title or a quote from the item to make it clearer as long as it is in line with the theme/point being highlighted by the article itself and doesn't change the meaning (no cherry picking!) (4) it is also okay to expand abbreviations to their full form.

The case against Eva Kaili
Qatargate Scandal: In December 2022, Belgian authorities arrested Kaili in connection with a corruption investigation involving Qatar. During raids, police recovered approximately €1.5 million in cash, with reports indicating that "several million euros" were handed to the main suspects in the so-called Qatargate scandal.
EU Budget Fraud: In February 2024, the European Parliament lifted Kaili's immunity to allow investigation into allegations of defrauding the EU budget of approximately €150,000. This involves claims of orchestrating fake jobs and kickbacks with former assistants
As of November 8, 2024, the case against Eva Kaili, former Vice President of the European Parliament, is ongoing. In September 2023, her defense initiated a legal challenge, leading to an internal investigation into the conduct of Belgian authorities during her arrest and detention. This inquiry is examining the legality of evidence collection and potential procedural violations. In February 2024, Kaili announced she would not seek re-election as a Member of the European Parliament. The investigation continues, with no final verdict or resolution reported to date.
Eva Kaili is currently living a normal life without any legal restrictions. In April 2023, she was released from prison and placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring. By May 2023, the Belgian federal prosecutor's office announced that she no longer needed to wear the electronic monitoring bracelet, effectively ending her house arrest. Since then, she has resumed her regular activities.
Hi everyone,
I am a US citizen. For the past year or two I have been working on developing my Hungarian language skills so that I can apply for Hungarian citizenship. I am 25% Hungarian, which is enough to gain citizenship if I can learn the language.
My goal with this is to get the citizenship and live elsewhere in the EU because I don't want to live in Hungary .
What do you think the chances are of Hungary leaving the EU at some point in the near future?
I don't want to spend more time learning this difficult language if it ultimately could turn out to be a waste .
Thank you.
Hi guys!
I applied for the Schuman Traineeship at the EU Parliament. I applied for 3 positions and I had an interview for one position this week, but in my account it still says "Application Submitted", however next to a different position it says "Ongoing", even tho I did not have an interview for that one.
Is there anyone who knows what each application status means?
Thank you in advance!
