Spoilers are bad, mmkay? EO doesn't have much to spoil, but it's still important. To cover text that spoils something, use the following template:
[Text that spoils the game](#s)
or
[Text that spoils the game](/s)
The above will produce Text that spoils the game.
This is to ensure that others don't have the storyline ruined for them and it's still easy for people to cover their text.

During the final chapter of Metaphor there are three optional Trial of the Dragon requests. The fairy Agrica is introduced in this series of trials, and during the final cutscene the camera zooms in on her enough to see that her design is clearly inspired by EO1/U's forest folk, if not Kupala specifically. Her final decision to >!sacrifice herself to bestow the main character a very powerful weapon!< is similar to the end of EOU's story mode, where >!Kupala sacrifices herself to empower the Highlander in the fight against Yggdrasil Core!<.
Hey!
I bought the trilogy on Switch as I like to have some light games, but interesting RPG. As Metaphor did not reach my expectations on difficulty...
I started on max difficulty and I'm getting rekt on two or three battles. I read a few of comments about jobs, i also check all of them in-game, and even experimented a little bit. Regardless of that, I'm getting destroyed haha. I'm fighting first floor enemies, 3-5 combats and then go to rest. sell everything, buy some gear to give more damage and defense.
For now, my main issue is that even the worst enemies, hit me like a truck, healing me costs me a lot of MP, and sometimes I'm slow to kill packs of enemies. To prevent wasting MP, I only attack. I have a defender on the frontline, but for now, he does nothing.
For now, I'm doing that and I'm level 6-7 on the first floor. They give really little experience, but they are still fearsome foes. Is it probable that I missed a basic mechanic here? Or just keep farming until some point.
Somewhere I read to gather things on the first floor, but if I go with a gatherer party, they get rekt on the first or second encounter.
Any tips?
So, I am currently playing Etrian Odyssey 2: Untold on my 3DS, which I hacked especially for that. I am really enjoying it, as I had started the original Etrian Odyssey on the DS, which I adored but couldn't beat due to its difficulty. I then received the notification that the HD collection is 70% off on steam (that's 160 R$ from 600 R$, which is a lot) Is it worth buying? Or can I just chill by playing the Untold games? I'm not missing much am I?
Edit: Thanks for the help folks! I ended up buying 3! But I only plan on playing it after finishing the untold games!
Basically title, etrian is the only series of atlus I havan't really tried and I wanted to know if it's worth since i've seen mixed reaction from people
The Star Devourer is finally slain!!!
I actually managed to defeat it a few years ago, but using a strategy from YouTube to oneshot it. For a long time it stood alongside the Abyssal Princess and Nexus Dinogator as the only enemies I needed a special team cheese them. In time, my original guild managed to defeat the princess and Dinogator, but SD still remained a thorn in my side...
Well, not anymore!
Now, I'm going to talk about what my team was and how I did it:
Front: (Earthlian Shield Bearer), (Therian Blade Dancer), (Therian Impact Brawler).
Rear: (Celestrain Omnilancer),(Brouni Deathguard).
The basic strategy was Aegis Shield the first Full Burst and buff party attack in the first turn while my Dragoon uses Dragon Roar, and attempt to shut the boss down after Full Burst with my Dragoon using his weapon skill and my Warlock using Spread Chant+Windstorm, throw in Wilting Miasma for more success chances, while my Therian duo just attack as best as they could.
The ideal scenario is binding two body parts (preferably arm and head), and according to which body is regenerated I have to adjust my strategy:
Agile Sword can outpace even your Shield skills, so Dragon Roar exists to draw aggro to the Dragoon instead of the squishy glass cannon rabbits.
If you're using Overexert, like me, your Therians would be too low on health so elemental attacks from the Bomb Chamber can defeat them even if you use Mana Guard, not even Soul Guard can save them then, so pull your Dragon Roar'ed Dragoon to the backline to aggro the Bomb Chamber to attack the rear line instead.
Towering Sword deals physical attacks so Soul Guard can save you, but the upcoming elemental attacks will likely kill you. Have both your Dragoon and Warlock use their defensive skill, or just your Dragoon using Full Guard. Masking Miasma can help if you're overwhelmed.
Agile Sword and Bomb Chambers can null physical or elemental attacks on their second turn (or whenever they feel like it near the end of the fight, but I don't think they can null twice in a row). If one of them is on the field and you think it's about to parry, use the chance to buff or charge. Note that Reserve Magic of physical and elemental can cause both parries to null it.
Obviously the more enemies on the field, the worse the situation is. Get around that by using more AOE skills like Soul Crusher or Satan Fist, or use a movement priority skill (Swallow Soar) to finish off the weaker parts quickly. If you see your Brouni has max union, defend and try to keep your guild in good shape until all parts are regenerated, then repeat turn 1 again. Debuffing defense is more important since the boss is likely more resistant to binds after it recovers from them.
Should you find yourself in a losing situation, as a last ditch to save the run use Soul Transfer from the Harbinger, which removes debuffs from an enemy to revive any character that falls in that turn with full health.
I know this isn't the ideal party for this boss, I think it rewards a party more focused on ailments and binds. I did manage to defeat it with a dedicated team from YouTube, oneshotting it on the third turn, but this is different. This guild is formed of my own original characters so this strategy is more or less my personal journey. Reading Arken's congratulations and gratitude felt more personal like this, like if she was thanking me directly.
Sorry if this sounded long-winded, at least I hope it helped others understand this boss better, and good luck to you all...
I’m struggling here, have been for 8 hours at this point. FINALLY finished mapping out all 30 floors, didn’t pop, went through every floor meticulously to make sure I wasn’t missing any shortcuts. Ended up comparing each square to the GameFaqs maps and found 2 hidden rooms on B28F only accessible through certain booby traps on B27F. Everything matches perfectly. I’ve even gone as far as erasing the color of the floor to make sure I’ve “seen” every block and I have. All floor jumps are activated. From what I can tell, I’ve ticked all boxes for the requirements, yet do not have the top tier medal. My only other guess is because I’m in Story mode instead of Classic?
Does anyone know where to find the red pine and where is it. Witch basement level is it at. Or witch monster has it after you defeat it?
Haven't played an EO game in a long time and am currently playing EOU1 Untold Millennium Girl. I'm on the 6th Satrum and get near the end of the game. My characters are all nearing level 70 but my characters skills are a really mixed bag and not sure if it's the setup.
Team is:
Landsknecht - Mainly use Falcon Slash to inflict damage. Using sword as weapon
Falcon Slash maxed
Double Strike Maxed
War Cry 5
Protector - Using him for Defender, Front Guard and some healing. I got a maxed out Salve grimore from my medic. So might use that instead of the Protectors healing skills
Front Guard 5
Defender 10
DEFUp 10
Provoke Maxed
Cure 5
Part Cure 3
Prayer 5
Dark Hunter - swapped over from a Survivalist. Mostly using to cast Hex's. Using Whip
Gag Maxed
Shackles Maxed
Cuffs Maxed
Viper 1
Ecstasy 7
Medic - Using for healing, reviving or casting Poison if I get a chance.
Cure 5
Salve Maxed
Regenerate Maxed
Revive 5
Toxin Injection Maxed
Alchemist - Mostly casting Inferno Formula, Cocytus Formula, Thor Formula to hit damage. Got no idea whether to focus on Analysis or Dilution. Not sure which one is better.
Fire,Ice,Volt Formula 5
Inferno Formula Maxed
Cocytus Formula 8
Thor Formula 5
Dilution 5
Analysis 1
Focus 3 (probably don't need this)
So my party has gotten me pretty far in the game so far. But I feel like my skills choice is sub par and there's not a lot of cohesion between members. Any advice to fix this up would be appreciated.
Basically the Title said it.
I have the game both on Steam and my Switch, Is there a way to convert the steam save to the Switch version?
I tried renaming the file as is, but it messed up the control on switch.
If there is a way, let me know..
thanks
Good morning,
when I wanted to launch the game today, I discovered that I could no longer launch it through Steam at all, since it now closes directly after launching it, without even seeing a window open.
Even after doing a file check, reinstalling it, checking my drivers, I still don't have the slightest possibility of playing it.
I have the first 3 EO HD on Steam, and these are my only games that give me this problem, I can no longer launch them on Steam or what?
When launching Event viewer, i see two different error when i try to launch the game : ( in description )
I hope to be able to exchange with someone having the same problem, or knowing it
thank you for reading and have a nice day
Playing through classic mode and after beating chimera I immediately went to the next floor and returned to town. Came back and now I can't find Wulfgar for the trust collar. Is he gone now?
Got Etrian Odyssey Nexus for 95€ and EO1 for free at a local flea market. I already had EO1 as a hard copy. And I also had EO Nexus as a digital download. Just happy I finally got it as a hard copy as well!
Did I make a good deal? I'm not sure with the prices, but online they seem to be little higher for Nexus alone. I live in the EU.
Hello everyone. New EO fan in Scotland here. I am 100 hours into EOIV on 3DS and I have fallen in love with this series. I am looking forward to playing all the other titles, starting with the first 2.
I own digital copies of EOU1 & EOU2 on my 3DS, and I was intending to play them in ‘classic’ mode (as I understand that would give me the closest experience to the originals)
But part of me is interested in getting myself copies of the original DS games and starting with them.
(Not really interested in the HD versions - because the dual screen map-drawing cartography aspect is key to my appreciation of the games)
I’d like to ask the community who have played the original games on the DS if playing the EOU games in ‘classic’ mode on the 3DS is comparable?
I understand that the original DS games had flat character models and chip tune scores, but other than that are the maps and layouts the same?
Any help/advice/thoughts appreciated. Cheers!
EDIT: I have bought the HD Origins Collection on Switch, and the original DS carts from Ebay. Whichever version I chose I would end up thinking about what the other versions were like. I look forward to trying them all out! :)
I got the Recover TP grimoire bonus/add on on both Elem Atk Up and TP Up so I was wondering if the recovery effect only works if it's on active skills?
Also, in-game, it says it doesn't stack but since I have two similar bonuses on two different grimoires, can something like double rolls for the Recover TP to trigger? Something like:
the first Recover TP doesn't proc so the second Recover TP will roll to trigger the TP refund whenever I use a skill if I equip them both
I installed both the game and the dlc for Citra. I also installed CIA, but when I load the game is says "Unable to load add-on content." is there a fix for this?
Say, if i have like a dozen farmers with Farmer's bounty and Combat Study levelled up, would that give the 2 units i left in the barracks even more EXP? The wiki sorta says something like this but it doesn't seem very clear.
One of my biggest gripes with eo is how much info is hidden from the player with regard to skills. Whenever I play eo, I always refer to the skill sims for detailed info.
Was curious if there was anyone that actually preferred the lack of detail in skill description over having all the info.
Hello all!
It looks like I should like this franchise but somehow I tried one game and it didn't click on me. I don't remember which game was but it was on the 3DS.
What game do you think could be a good start? I am not looking for a deep plot, this is one of those games that you play because of gameplay, not story to be fair.
I would prefer it if I can jump in blindly and be somewhat ok, of course I would miss some things but I want to create my party without regrettimg not picked certain class or skill and now I am doomed ( I played a lot of rpgs so I wont do a full barbarian party or something like that)
Also one of my fears os that if I want to try a new character it would be underleveled compared to the main party. Is recomended to create one party and do the whole game with that or is it better to switch from time to time?
Another thing I would like to know in advance is if I can start progessing just when I create my party or is recomended to grind a little bit before starting making progress, I dont mind the early grind but I dont want to find a big difficulty spike when I am still learning the basic mechanics and skills of my party.
I can play on both DS and 3DS I think most of thr games are on those platforms.
Thank you in advance.
Hi, currently playing EO2 HD, and when using Evil Eye with Hexer I miss half of the time? is there any stat I can max to improve this? the skill itself is already maxed out, does AGI or TEC influence the hit/miss rate? I know that AGI influence the turn order, but only that? what about TEC. thanks
Im impulse playing Etrian Odyssey EO2U because I saw this character and thought they looked cool and edgy but they don't seem to be selectable even though all the other gunners I saw are, can I unlock them or something?
I'm a big fan of the original etrian odyssey Trilogy but the only game i missed was the second, so i decided to play the remake.
I'm not used to the new custom system and i know that grimoire can make anything doable, but i want to be sure of this party at Expert since Is basically etrian odyssey for ds difficulty!
Landy, protector, medic, troubadour(no i won't take sovreign love my Lute guy so muc) and survivalist
Landy Is going the sword and double hit way and the other i still don't know how to build them or where to focus my point.
Let me Hear your humble opinion!
First time playing an Etrian game and I am enamoured by it. Always been a fan of Dungeon Crawlers but I don't know if what makes Etrian so fun to me is being encouraged to draw a map, the total freedom of party creation and how open ended it is, it's so good and makes it a blast. (I am playing the other mode that isn't story)
One day I really wanna run an Etrian Odyssey style D&D campaign, so in preparation I'm making a bunch of EO-based subclasses. I'll put them in a big pdf eventually and ask for feedback and whatnot. So far I've been struggling mostly with how most EO mages are basically the same, Sorcerers aren't really a thing in EO, and there's only two EO classes that even use fists.
I already have a few ideas on what I wanna do next (i.e.: I know that if I don't include Protector I'll get my EO License revoked) but if yall have any ideas lmk in the comments.
Lineup is:
Gladiator - Sovereign - Buccaneer
Zodiac - Ninja
I'm literally level 1, I would like to keep the Buccaneer (pirate fantasy) and Sovereign (because they look cute), everything else can change. Additionally best subs? I know Sov wants Monk to supplement their capabilities, and outside of that, I'm lost. I kinda just want a decent crew that won't suck, I've beat the 1st two remakes, but this seems like it took the rule book and tossed it out of the window in terms of classes.
The main aspect perplexing me is what combos with what else and I like having a party within 3 levels of each other, if not fully equal, leveling in Sync, I'm kinda weird like.
Oh, and Gladiator is set for Bashing damage using a club instead of a Sword. So if anyone can help me out with subs and perhaps a "why" they combo with one another, that'd be great, but please, just, lemme know if I'm making big mistakes or who else I should change out if any of them as I truly wish to keep Sov and Bucc, I don't plan on changing those out at all.
It's just main/subclasses, the only other EO that I've beaten was 5 and it's the only other game without subs outside 1 and 2.
Thanks for any advice or help!
PS- I have the ability to play EO3 on the DS, should I play that or the remaster and why? I want to check on public consensus, either way it'll be on a Nintendo console. Again, thanks for any advice or help!
I'm going to play Etrian Odyssey for the first time with the HD Collection on PC anything important to know before i start?
