slider switch replacement

My Bosch range hood has 3 fan speeds that have stopped working except for just the fastest/highest speed. I narrowed down the problem to the slider switch appearing to have burn marks. If I just wanted to test my soldering skills by replacing it, can someone help me find a suitable replacement?

My MacBook just stopped working after being uncharged for a long time.

The model that I’m talking about is the MacBook Pro 13-Inch, Early 2011. I use it a lot for a lot of stuff but these days I forgot to charge it (more exactly 3 to 4 days uncharged) and when I turned it on yesterday to do a important work, the MacBook just stopped working, it wasn’t turning on. Instead it was trying to turn on as you can see on the video. When I touch on the power button a “click” sound from the CD drive appears and the power LED is showed but only for a milisecond before turning off again. If I plug it on the charger it keep trying to turn on but nothing is showed on the screen and it keep trying to turn on and off several times…

What I’ve tried so far:

Reset the PRAM, SMC. Remove all the components like the battery, the CD Drive, the SSD and tried to turn it on without those components and only the charge. I also tried to turn it on without the ram too but it also showing the same problem. I tried to let it on the charge for the entire night but it didn’t worked on the other day. I tried to clean and change the RAM slots but also didn’t worked. I take a look at the motherboard but I can’t see any visible damage. I don’t have any knowledge of soldering or anything else but…if there are something else that I can do, please say to me. I know that this MacBook is very old, but I love to use it anyway.

replace ups?!

Hello!
I have an 8 years old APC UPS on which I have replaced battery 2 years ago.
Manual self-test works well.
Instead sometimes (I think when it does auto periodical self-test) it beeps continuously without any reason.

What can be the reason?
If there is a power loss it works, providing the power for the minutes that I need...
I just need to replace again the battery?!

Why does my TV looks like this?

It's a LG model, 720p resolution. I used it earlier in the day and it looked completely fine. I don't if it's because I played around with my pictured mode or disconnecting the HDMI cable.

I managed to play around with the TV’s settings and lowering the contrast a bit helped get rid of the few blue lines, but it’s still very visible

Is my backlight broken?

I left my pc on overnight and my VA panel monitor is a lot dimmer. Adjusting brightness does not change anything even when I put it all the way to zero. What could be the problem?

Electronics Repair as a source of small income?

Hi, I am a high schooler who loves computers and is also a pretty fast learner.

I recently got my hands on the iFixit Mako kit and the prying and opening toolkit from the same company. I got them because I had recently turned an old computer into a home server (which I have not used since, but hey, it works), and was super enthusiastic about reviving or repurposing some of the other older electronics I have lying around.

I figured that if I could learn to do some simple fixes on electronics, I could learn a lot more about computer hardware (which I don't have the strongest grasp on) and make a buck here and there.

What resources would you recommend for me to learn the anatomy of computers, phones or other devices, as well as circuitry?

Tesla punk 220w “no atomizer”

The mod had some troubles (constantly showing overheating message). I cleaned the pcb and all was fine, working as intended. Then during the assembly the termination ring on minus cable (connecting to mod body and threaded connector) broke off so I replaced it. After replacement mod only shows message “no atomizer” when button pressed (I tried several, with various resistances, all tested on other mods). More, even when I connect two leads it still shows same message, though should display short circuit message, it can detect sc. Continuity from the connected atomizer contacts to the pcb checked and is ok. Who knows what might be the issue?

Macbook Pro M1 Backlight

As you can see there is some water spots from where i used 99% iso alcohol to remove the adhesive. Is this still usable? I have tried to remove the stain inside and out but to no avail.

What is this sub's stance regarding "warezed" info?

Just curious, since I have a lot of info (books, data, datasheets, etc.) that might come in handy to other people, including seasoned repairmen.

For example, things like SMD codebooks (Turuta and others), firmware, modded firmware, software, schematics (we all know most of the ones you can find online for free are not released by the manufacturer)... stuff like that.

This is sort of a "gray area", at least in electronics (since it's a multidisciplinary area, at least nowadays), but still.

My main quiestion would be, is it OK of we share links to warezed content (mainly books and other useful info that is not just datasheets) or not?

Is my power supply bad? Voltage appears to be reading lower than it should be. Ultrasonic cleaner beeps and LED display not lighting up

Hello everyone. I recently bought a used Vevor Ultrasonic cleaner that is not working. I searched and followed some of the advice from this post.

I believe the problem has to do with the power supply. The machine's plug has a power switch in the back, which lights up orange appropriately when turned on. When the switch is on, the main fan turns on, however the main LED display, which is on a circuit board with buttons to control the unit does not light up and only beeps when plugged in.

I took the machine apart, and found that the voltage to the fan is only ~ 9V, and the voltage going to the LED display/ control fluctuates between 1.6V and 2.2V. I took a video explaining and some additional photos here: https://imgur.com/a/gQusb4o

Everything on the control board is labeled as 5V, and I have verified it works properly by plugging it into a bench power supply at 5V and it lights up and the buttons work perfectly.

I'm not familiar with the main board of this unit, and I'm honestly not sure where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

X6 Pro wireless earbuds question

The oval silicon part came off the right earbud & the left is starting to come off the left one.

Do I need to replace it or can I use these without that black piece? I don’t want to limit the life on these.

Thank you!

Trying to diagnose faulty 32" LCD, anyone see an issue? LG 32GK650F QHD, 144Hz

[main board is EAX69731901](https://imgur.com/OkrBoi1)

I have tried:

* different cables

* different monitor port (2 HDMI and 1 DP)

* different computer

* changed display speed between 60 and 144

* disabled AMD Freesync

* different PSU, monitor used external PSU.

Symptom: monitor will occasionally flicker, that is go completely black for a couple frames. The flickering occurs every few minutes or so. Once in a while, it'd display garbled graphic for a frame or 2 as well. The odds of having faulty AMD 7900xt, faulty NVidia 2080, and laptop's faulty AMD iGPU having exact same fault is unlikely. And since I've tried different cables, different ports on the monitor, and different power supplies I can only conclude there's a problem with the monitor itself.

At a glance I didn't see any issue like scorch mark or failing caps; 3 years old caps shouldn't be failing already. I tried to search for the exact same board, only 1 hit on Taobao site. So any idea or suggestion as to the cause of flickering display? A replacement monitor of the same model is about $230 to $280 and eBay used ones are about $200 with shipping.
