You are in the wrong subreddit, if you are here for the following artists or artists who sound similar to:
Deadmau5, Skrillex, Dada Life, Knife Party, Avicii, Madeon, Feed Me, etc.
The above artists do not nor have ever produced electro.
Self-promotion goes in the sticky thread.

So far i have noticed that tight semitone intervals can yeld some gnarly basslines. For example F, F#, G#, A. But I’m not sure how to relate this tight interval group to a scale to continue with the next element of the track like a pad or a melody. What are your preferred scales and how many notes do you use in a scale for the most elementary harmonic content such as bass pad and melody.
Hello I am struggling to figure out what makes a pad feel "cold". These type of pads/strings really fit electro well. I have heard an alpha juno go in territory.
I am looking for some more general tips and recipes to create cold pads on any synths.
Here's an example of the type of pad I mean... string/pad appears around 1:42

Hi, I've probably looked at all the reddit posts and all the youtube videos and I still don't know what to choose between the M3 pro and the M1 pro. I don't want to spend all my savings on a computer but I need performance for my music production. I'm on ableton and I make electronic music (house, techno, tech house...). And I'm also lost concerning the Ram because I'm using a lot of Serum and Diva in my projects and my current Dell really doesn't like it (I currently have 16 ram and a Dell inspiron i7).
Option 1:
MacBook Pro 16.2" (2021) - Apple M1 Pro avec CPU 10 hearts and GPU 16 hearts - 32Go RAM - SSD 512Go
2 244,99 €
Option 2:
MacBook Pro 16.2" (2021) - Apple M1 Pro avec CPU 10 hearts and GPU 16 hearts - 16Go RAM - SSD 512Go
1 552,00 €
Option 3:
MacBook Pro 16.2" (2024) - Apple M3 Pro avec CPU 12 hearts and GPU 18 hearts - 18Go RAM - SSD 512Go
2 999,00 €
What should I take for what I do? will the macbook pro m1 last me long enough? which screen size is best for music production (same price for both)? Is 16go ram enough for 6 serum and 6 diva with ableton effects?
Hi all,
More of a melodic electro query - been trying to recreate this pad in Diva and coming close but not quite nailing it. Think it's probably a juno. Any pointers hugely appreciated.
The struggle is real!
hi! so i started doing a solo project and im not experienced doing that type of music (but they’re my favorite xD), (industrial /dark synth / dark electro / witch house vibes) and it would be amazing if you could give me a feedback. more songs soon, thanks! 🩸🧛🏼♀️ link: https://youtu.be/q87tpnQsANA?si=gpj7kjpZVSvpQXTg

Hey there,
I would like to know if someone can help explain how this type of electro bassline is created or what synth is used here. Mostly involves using LFO and some EQ adjustments, but in almost all tracks, it's the same bassline I'm trying to reproduce with some VST and analog on Ableton. There is some familiar sound, but not that 'phat' quality I'm aiming for. Here are some examples of the tracks
Added a riser to this track... question, is the kick too much? Listen to hope we don't fade away by IO1563 on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/tBiqx

There's this particular snare and kick sound that I often hear throughout electro, particularly in the music of Drexciya, Gerald Donald, and DMX Krew. It sounds almost like compressed air, or like it's inside a vacuum or something.
Here are some examples:

Is it from a particular drum machine? Is it using a specific set of effects? Is it synthesized by hand?
Thank you!
I'm a huge fan of electronic music, love electro but was a House and Techno fan first. When I'm going to make a beat is so easy making the basic beat idea of house and techno, the rest of the track flows naturally because I feel like I understand how the beat works.. I also love jungle, but have lots of difficulty on making a basic break from point zero.. it's a lot easier for me sampling and using different breaks on top of each other (the way God intended), but making a jungle track flows cause of the way I use sampling o understand better what I'm making.. but electro.. the Miami bass beat, volt mix beat is so weird I don't know what it is I still haven't found a good tutorial so that I at least know what it is I'm not understanding! I feel like the issue is not understanding how to describe the core of it.. like house is tuts tats, techno is oonts oonts, jungle is tuktikta but electro is......
For years I’ve been using sequencers, but now I really want to nail writing my own. Does anyone have any tips in terms of rhythm and melody ? Thanks 🙏
