/r/EcologicalEconomics
Ecological Economics is about the interaction between humans and the environment via the economy.
It starts from the premise that the economy is limited by the constraint of our planet's finite resources. Ecological Economics recognises that trying to achieve perpetual economic growth is unsustainable when we live on a planet with a fixed set of resources.
It rejects the mainstream economics goal of continued economic growth and proposes instead a steady state economy.

hello everyone!
i am majoring in IR and i wrote my final dissertation on the european green deal decoupling on a very surface level and i've been long interested in ecological economics, but because i haven't had any economics class i've only read a lot commentators so far, and i am looking for a way to start reading georgescu-roegen, herman daly and so on.
my biggest obstacle is that i don't have a good grasp on marginal utility and it seems a pre requisite to understand some of what GR says. do you guys have any advice or recommendations on where to start and what might help me with this gap that i have? also, i'd appreciate a "beginner's guide" on eco-eco. like, which seminal works should i begin with?
Hello fellow Redditors,
I currently hold a bachelor's degree in applied geology and am pursuing my master's in mineral resources, geomaterials, and environmental studies. I'm contemplating applying for a second master's degree program in Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition Management. I'm curious about how this unique combination of fields might contribute to my aspirations of establishing a shale gas extraction business or getting involved in related ventures.
Your insights and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi, question in the title. Overshoot day dropped 2nd of August this year.
Is it possible to determine the wealth that was generated with one planet this year ? Would it be an interesting metric?

Whatโs the best way to teach myself economics? My high school classical-Econ courses didnโt end up teaching me things so Iโm trying to learn it by myself since itโs something Iโm interested in.
Hello everyone, I am currently awaiting a response for a scholarship to study my masterโs degree in the UK. At the same time, I have already applied and got offers from both the University of Leeds and the University of Edinburgh for ecological economics (scholarship requires to apply for different universities). Iโm still not sure which one I Should go for, so I was hoping if you could give me insights on Ecological Economics at both universities , and if you have any recommendations too.
