Are there any good attorneys in the area equipped to handle a case about another attorneys malpractice?
It is clear that we are going to need to fight hard to build a stronger progressive / Democratic movement to protect this state from the devastating policy plans of the 2nd Trump administration.
I, regrettably, have not been involved in local political movements the way I could or should have been in the last decade. Where could I and others start to put some work in?
Local advocacy groups, The Eau Claire Democratic Party, any suggestions are welcome.
Me and my partner are seriously considering moving out of country. Is another Trump presidency going to be as bad as I think it will be? Please convince me otherwise. This is possibly the biggest decision I've had to make
Edit: holy crap this got some traction. If you're new to the thread, tread carefully, politics are very polarising today. I realise my worry and want to leave the country is a bit extreme, but considering the amount of people who Have even floated the idea of moving this election being much higher, I wouldn't put that up to chance. this one, I feel, is different. I hope I'm wrong.
Come on WQOW Daybreak! Get it together. It is still unwatchable. Can we PLEASE get some new people? Nicole isn’t bad but Sam and Austin are terrible!
Apparently the labour temple rented a hall to the Democratic resource centre, so I'll now the Brickhouse is being boycotted and the bartender is losing her usual game day income. I don't care your politics, can we some people to go by, get a drink, and leave the girl some tips? Working for business that shares the building is a bullshit reason to lose your pay.
Politics aside, what an absolute embarrassment.
So...I get this is a trivial thing in life. But it still brings me joy. Woodman's quit carrying my favorite caramel. And it's not available online. I'm ok with paying more. But I haven't explored any of the local crafters either (Sweet Driver, those kind of places). Anyone have a good place for me to start looking locally so I can continue my addiction?
Looking for a good autobody shop to give me an estimate on my car. I hit a deer and messed up car.
I am looking for food pantry’s that are open on wensday and Saturday.
We'll be passing through EC this weekend and I'm wondering if any of the McDonald's have a play place? Need a spot for the kids to burn some energy but not so awesome they refuse to leave.
I've lived here for a couple of months now, and I regularly watch body cam videos online, and I try to keep up with happenings around town. The police here seem to give zero shits about traffic laws, and pretty much only pull people over for suspected DUI and it's insanely frustrating. Pretty much on any road I drive I will have assholes riding my ass, speeding past me going 70 in a 50, and the police parked in the center of the roads so fuck all. It's frustrating.
Does anyone know of any events this week or weekend that are celebrating Dia De Los Muertos?
Drive-Through/Walk-Up Voting Report: This year’s in-person absentee voting has gotten off to a busy start! Below are the counts of voters for the first three days of voting. It has been very lively at City Hall! We have met people who have never voted before, whether they be newly turned 18-year-olds or 50+ year olds. The City of Eau Claire has approximately 40,000 registered voters (with more registering every day). The total who had voted as of Thursday represented about eight percent of registered voters. The table below shows that in 2020, there were 4,333 votes cast from drive-through voting over the first five days. In 2024, there were 3,027 votes cast as of Thursday. (We don't have a number for Friday 10/25 yet, and the City is not offering Saturday voting this year.) It looks as if the number of people using this option to vote are pretty similar between the two years so far.
A few reminders:
