Anyone got any memories of him? Plays not for my local team in liege (bulldogs). Just managed to see him and seemed an aggressive player and fits right in at this level
After his 1 game stint with the Devils in Žilina, IIHF continental cup champion goaltender Maxim Duve (🇺🇦) has returned to Energija Elektrenai (🇱🇹) in the Optibet Hokeja Līga.
In his 1 game with the Devils, the 24 year old recorded a stat line of a .769 SVS% and a 6.00 GAA against Arlan HC.
I hope the mods are cool with this, but for the last couple of years us fans of NIHL teams have been lurking in here as /r/NIHL has been set to approved-posters-only with absent mods, so this was the nearest active sub we have
The good news is my application to take over /r/nihl has been successful and the sub is now reopened for business! We just need fans of NIHL clubs to get things rolling with the first new content in two years!
(And maybe we can chat about how Storm should be in our league, rather than discussing Leeds in yours, for once :) :) :) )
Unfortunately this was the 1 game I couldn’t go so I couldn’t see it
Like the title says, what is your honest opinion on all 10 teams based on your experiences, what you know and your personal opinions?
Have noticed the blaze almost always play at home on a Sunday. Is there a reason for this?
this is really stupid imo because no one is paying to watch live streams. it literally is a similar price to an irl ticket (guilford flames £18 irl and £15 stream). in field hockey the indoor hockey uk final or smth i cant remember what is was called was on a youtube live stream for free. surely changing eihl games to youtube live streams would be so much better since it would encourage more fans?
just what the title is asking
My proposal suggests integrating the 7 Mens Scottish National League teams with the existing 62 teams from the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) systems, creating a unified and more cohesive British national ice hockey league structure and British ice hockey challenge cup. As well as creating an open invitation for 4 new women’s teams to join the existing 28 teams in the women’s EIHL and NIHL structure.
Forgot to post this (again). Anyway, how'd the weekend go for everyone's teams?
There is always a lot of debate over expansion, tv deal, British Player rules and so on but what would the perfect league setup for Britain actually be? I look at the League(s) Format, Teams, Live Streaming and British Player rules/Import Numbers. A lot of this is based on the DEL (and DEL2) as I see that league as being something for the EIHL to aspire to be. I am fully aware that this is unrealistic for a number of different reasons but it’s just a little bit of fun. Here is my perfect British Hockey League:
Elite Ice Hockey League
Belfast Giants - SSE Arena Birmingham Bulls - Utilita Arena Birmingham Cardiff Devils - New Arena East London Olympians - Copper Box Arena Edinburgh Capitals - Murrayfield Ice Arena Glasgow Clan - Braehead Arena Leeds Knights - New Arena Liverpool Leopards - M&S Bank Arena Manchester Storm - AO Arena Newcastle Pythons - Utilita Arena Newcastle Nottingham Panthers - Motorpoint Arena Sheffield Steelers - Utilita Arena Sheffield Surrey Flames - New Arena Wembley Monarchs - Wembley Arena
52 Game Season (2H+2A) Top 8 Teams make the Playoff Group Stage Each Playoff Team plays each other twice (1H+1A) for 14 Games Top four from the group make Playoff Finals Weekend POFW is played at Wembley Arena Bottom two teams enter BNL Promotion Playoffs
British National League
Aberdeen Lynx - P&J Live Ayr Eagles - New Arena Brighton Tigers - New Arena Bristol Pitbulls - New Arena Cambridge Senators - New Arena Coventry Blaze - Skydome Arena Dundee Stars - Dundee Ice Arena Exeter Blizzard - Westpoint Arena Fife Flyers - Fife Ice Arena Hull Seahawks - Hull Arena Milton Keynes Lightning - Planet Ice Milton Keynes Southampton Mariners - New Arena Swansea Vikings - New Arena Wrexham Miners - New Arena
52 Game Season (2H+2A) Top 6 Teams make the Playoff Group Stage (Joined by 13th + 14th from EIHL) Each Playoff Team plays each other twice (1H+1A) for 14 Games Top Two are promoted to the EIHL
Cup Competition Ahearne Cup
All 28 Teams from the EIHL and BNL play in cup competition League Champion in EIHL and BNL, Playoff Champion in EIHL and Cup Champion all earn bye to the Second Round. The other 24 teams are drawn randomly to play against each other in a two legged game decided on aggregate. 28 - 16 - 8 - 4 - 2 Grand Final is a One Off game hosted at Utilita Arena Birmingham (or Motorpoint Arena)
Rules on British Players
Because this is a fantasy scenario I could realistically say anything, but I want to keep it somewhat realistic and follow what other leagues like Slovakia, ICEHL and DEL use for Domestic Players. So the EIHL Teams must ice 8 British Players and the BNL Teams must ice 12 British Players However I also believe what categorises a British player should also change
To be a British Player, they must adhere to at least two of these rules:
Played two or more years in England or Scotland Junior Leagues (any age category) Must be eligible to play for the Great Britain National Team Played in the UK for five or more years Born in the United Kingdom
Idea being that it may entice some imported played who maybe were born in the UK or have parents from the UK to come over and play in the league. There could also be a rule in place that each team has to be attached to an Academy Setup similar to the rule that the DEL has for teams getting promoted from DEL2
Television and Media
Even in a Fantasy world a TV Deal seems unlikely but I’d actually prefer the league to go in a different direction. League Wide streaming service, every team on one website with money from subscriptions spread evenly among the teams (Just in the League). The idea is that there is an online Season Ticket for both the EIHL and also one BNL all on one website. £250 (200 for BNL) for a Season? Split evenly among all the teams, or alternatively pay £150 (100 for BNL) for a Season just for your team. I think there would be other perks if you bought the whole league ticket such as GB Games or exclusive Interviews with players. Along with that though there would be one Free Live Game per every couple of weeks on the website (both EIHL and BNL) and maybe a free Highlights Show as well. Big events such as the Champions Hockey League, Continental Cup, Ahearne Cup Final and the Playoff Final Weekend all streamed for free as well.
Please share your thoughts or changes to what I originally put together. Thank you for reading.
Former Grand Slam champion Josh Nicholls 🇨🇳🇨🇦 has joined Angers in Ligue Magnus 🇫🇷 after spending the first half of this season in free agency!
Last season with the treble winning Steelers, the 32 year old forward played 68 games with a stat line of 21 goals, 31 assists and a +/- of +20
Good morning everyone,
I am just wondering as this will be my first time going over to the playoff and I'd like to know roughly what time the games start and finish as I am trying to prebook my parking so that I am not driving around Nottingham like an eejit trying to find somewhere to park that's not miles away from the arena.
Are they usually around the same start time every year or does it change to the point where guesses couldn't really be made??
Thanks in advance!!
