Dragonfruit weird behaviour question

Dragonfruit growing at work

I've started growing dragonfruit from seeds a while ago and I have about 8 plants at the office that are between 20 and 50cm high. They're in single pots at the moment, but the highest four I plan on putting into a large pot to have them climb on a center pole.

About three weeks ago, simultaneously all of them started sending out another stem at the very bottom and also all of them lost one of their spines at the same time also. Where almost all of them had 4 spines to begin with, now all of them have only 3.

Both of these things happening at the same time makes me wonder what the cause of it is.

The watering behaviour didn't change. The temperature is still mostly the same, about 1 degree lower than during summer. It used to be between 21 and 23 degrees C and now it's between 20 and 22. Humidity is still the same between 30 and 40 %.

The only thing that I can really say changed, is the amount and the intensity of the sunlight, since it's slowly becoming winter in Austria.

Should I get them a heating mat or a artificial sunlight? I have both of them lying around somewhere. Or is there anything else that could be causing this?

I'll try to add a picture of them but no idea if that works.

Where to buy

What are some reputable places to get different varieties? I know etsy is sketchy and other websites are always out of stock. I’m in South Texas so if anyone is local or nearby that would be amazing.

Cactus rust

My year old dragons got a bad case of cactus rust while living outside in late summer/early fall. I have since brought them indoors and have been spraying them with copper fungicide a couple times a week. How do I know when they are healed and I can stop spraying?

Yellow at Base so is this flower doomed? I’m

As you can see in the above plant I’ve cut it off to start again. But this is my first flower bud , I assume, and even though so close to the ground, my concern is the yellowing at its base. Suggestion please as to which way to move forward to keep the bud?

Does this look like DragonFruit to you?

I’ve had this for a few years but lately it’s started going crazy and I’m trying to research to figure out what it is and what to do with it. Google image search said DragonFruit. I think the original unknown plant (small) was a gift and the orange/red top fell off I just kept it in a sunny window and it has several more offshoots now.

Inherited a dragon fruit cactus and need some pointers

Hey y'all. Just stumbled across this subreddit after confirming what sort of cactus this guy is and wanted to share my story and ask for some pointers to this new world I find myself in.

The previous condition of the plant was far less than ideal. My dad was a truckdriver and wasn't home very often to tend to it. It was overgrown and in very poor soil directly from wherever it was bought. When he passed earlier this year and I inherited it, I pruned the long and stressed branches myself and I had it repotted promptly to the terra cotta it's in now (with the help of a local flower shop).

Watering it once after the repotting seemed to be going quite well. The color of the two bulbs came back and they even began to sprout a few needles.

A few days later, however, one of the bulbs began to turn transparent and brown. It was quite squishy this morning and when I took it out to dispose of it, I noticed there were no roots attached to it. I'm thinking it just didn't take well to the repotting and struggled with it's water retention. Unfortunate, but not unheard of I hope.

Fortunately, the other bulb seems to be doing quite well. It's solid, dark healthy green, and even sprouted a new growth! The new branch is shooting out of it at a really surprising rate too. I hear these cacti grow quick, but I didn't expect how quickly that would actually be. (The new arm is roughly double the size it is in the photo attached. About 3mm at the moment) I'm hopeful that this bulb grows into a strong base and keeps kicking. I would really like this plant to stay alive.

It's getting pretty chilly here where I live in the northern US, so I'm prepping for slower growth/some hibernation during this time from the cactus. But it's quite warm and dry in my room, so I think it'll make it through the winter. (It's getting plenty of sun near my south window as well)

In terms of goals for the cactus itself, I'm not quite sure how to go about it. If the possibility is there, I would like to one day harvest fruit from it, but I'm content with an indoor cactus for decoration if the former isn't an option for me. It's just nice to have something from my dad with me now. I plan on pruning off the other branch once the new one gets a little bigger to help with balancing and the structural integrity of the plant. A small trellis is in the works too for more support one day.

I guess overall I'm just looking for some tips or pointers for the situation I find myself in. I'm new to plant ownership, but I'm fascinated by the hobby and simply enjoy watching things grow.

Thanks for reading such a long and personal post!

Help! My plant is splitting!

TLDR: please help me diagnose this weird crack in my sugar dragon plant

My sugar dragon started producing a wonderful new growth (top of image) a few weeks ago, and seemed nice and healthy and plump everywhere else. I just rotated my pot to give a different cutting some more sun (I noticed it had rooted and started making new growth so I moved it out of the shade). However, upon rotating, I found this disturbing gash in my sugar dragon. Can anybody tell me what this could be or why it’s happening? If there’s anything I can do about it, please let me know! I’m very new to dragon fruit growing so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Last fruit of the season.

Second fruit from my cacti ever. Still not sure what variety they are. Stoked to have gotten fruit at all really. They are small but tasty pretty good not super sweet more on the earthy side. White on the inside.

Planted some yellow dragon fruit seeds that have started sprouting. I’m well on my way on this dragon fruit journey. I plan on planting a few of the sprouts to grow the others I will plant in small pots to sell.

Looking to trade one of my 3 cacti that’s well established for another type like purple haze or ones that grow big sweet fruit. The goal is to have multiple varieties growing in my backyard.

What is this?

I was just eating my dragonfruit until I saw this?? Is it edible? Is it bad? Is it like mold or smth? I’m gonna eat around it for now, but it could be good to know for if I ever see this again.
